KEAM 2026: The Commissioner for Entrance Examinations conducts the Kerala state-level entrance exam - KEAM, for UG engineering and pharmacy admission. According to various local reports, the KEAM 2026 exam date has been announced by CEE. However, CEE has not updated any official notice on the KEAM website - cee.kerala.gov.in. According to the reports, CEE will hold a KEAM 2026 CBT exam on April 15, 16, 17, 18, 19, 20 and 21, from 2 pm and 5 pm each day. CEE has kept four buffer days on the KEAM 2026 exam schedule - April 13, 14, 22 and 23.

Under KEAM, there is a KEAM entrance test and a KEAM centralised counselling process (CAP). For the UG engineering course and pharmacy course admission, candidates have to register for KEAM, appear for the KEAM CBT test and then appear for CAP counselling for admission. KEAM registrations will open in February 2026 at cee.kerala.gov.in.

However, for admission to other courses like medical, agriculture, forestry, veterinary, fisheries, and architecture, candidates have to register for KEAM and appear in the centralised counselling process (CAP) with applicable entrance exam scores (like NEET and NATA).

Check all details on KEAM 2026 entrance exam, like how to apply, eligibility, exam pattern, syllabus, how to prepare, course-wise selection process and more details in this article below.

What is KEAM?

The Commissioner of Entrance Examination (CEE) takes the responsibility of conducting KEAM anually. Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) is a state-level UG admission process for courses like Engineering, Architecture, MBBS, BDS, Ayurveda, Homoeo, Siddha, Unani, Agriculture, Forestry, Veterinary, Fisheries, Pharmacy, Co-operation & Banking, Climate Change & Environmental Science, and BTech Biotechnology.

Admission Process via KEAM

Note that Kerala Engineering, Architecture, and Medical (KEAM) is an admission process. It comprises two parts - an entrance exam for UG engineering and pharmacy admission and a centralised admission process (CAP counselling) for UG medical, agriculture, forestry, veterinary, fisheries, and architecture courses based on various national-level entrance exam scores like NEET and NATA.

The candidates interested in admission to any of these courses have to register for KEAM. However, only the UG engineering and pharmacy aspirants will have to appear for the KEAM entrance exam; the rest of the candidates will have to directly register for CAP with their applicable national-level entrance exam marks.

Candidates Appearing for KEAM Exam

In 2025, a total of 1,19,974 (86,549 for Engg and 33,425 for BPharm) appeared in the KEAM exam. On average, around 85,000 to 90,000 vcandidates appear for KEAM engineering exam and around 30,000 to 35,000 take the pharmacy exam.

KEAM Eligibility Criteria

Candidates should have passed Class 12 exams to be eligible for KEAM. CEE has not specified any attempt limits for this state-level exam; however, candidates must be at least 17 years of age as of December 31 in the year of admission.

KEAM Syllabus and Pattern

CEE issues the KEAM 2026 syllabus PDF, and the questions in the exam are based on the topics mentioned on the official syllabus.

KEAM 2026 entrance exam for engineering admission will have questions from  Physics, Chemistry & Mathematics. While the BPharm candidates have to appear for Physics and Chemistry only. The KEAM entrance exam for engineering courses consists of 150 questions, with Mathematics having 75 questions, Physics having 45 questions, and Chemistry having 30 questions. Candidates get 180 minutes to complete the exam.

For candidates appearing for the KEAM exam BPharm ONLY, the entrance exam has 45 questions in Physics and 30 questions in Chemistry, to be completed within 90 minutes. Each correct answer fetches four marks, while every incorrect answer results in a deduction of one mark.

KEAM Engineering Selection Criteria

Selection of candidates for engineering admission via KEAM will be based on a rank list drawn by giving 50:50 weightage to KEAM entrance exam scores and plus two marks. Hence, along with the state-level LEAM entrance exam, candidates also need to score good marks in the Kerala plus two board exams.

Changes in KEAM rank list preparation

In 2025, to calculate the marks in KEAM for the preparation of KEAM rank lists, marks were considered in a 1:1:1 ratio across Mathematics, Physics, and Chemistry. However, a few days before the release of the KEAM rank list, this formula was changed by the introduction of a new ratio of 5:3:2, giving more weight to Mathematics, followed by Physics and Chemistry. The reason cited for this change was that the former method of standardisation gave undue advantage to the students of CBSE and other state boards.

This change was challenged in the Kerala High Court, and the court ordered the reordering of ranks based on the earlier 1:1:1 subject weightage. Read more...

This led to the cancellation of the KEAM engineering ranks list, and a revised rank list was released. Read more...
