The duration of Silk Technology course in India is 4 years in general. Silk Technology Engineering is a subcategory of Textile Engineering and Technology because of which there are only 2 colleges that provide the BTech Silk Technology course. Other colleges teach the same as part of the Textile Engineering syllabus. At the PG level, you can study M.Tech in Textile Engineering with a specialisation in Silk Technology, which is a 2-year long course at many colleges. 

There is no college in India as of now that provides a full-fledged PG course in Silk Technology. But, you can definitely opt for M.Tech in Textile Technology with a specialisation in Silk Technology. It is one of the most popular choices for students who want to research more about the silk industry and the processes. A few other course options for you at the postgraduate level are MSc in Textile Management and MSc in Sericulture.

The BTech Silk Technology course eligibility criteria is to get at least 50 to 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics subjects in Class 12 board exams. Also, you must give relevant entrance tests for admission to the BTech Silk Technology course and get very good marks in the same. There may be a GD or PI round as well after the entrance test results for finalizing your admission.

The option for direct admission is not available at present. There are only 2 BTech in Silk Technology Engineering colleges in India that give admission on the basis of entrance exam scores like JEE Main, KCET, and MHT CET. You should study very hard for the exam and get good marks to get a seat at any of these colleges.

• M.Tech in Textile Technology (with specialisation in Silk Technology): This is the most common option for further specialisation in silk.

You should first check the eligibility for the BTech Silk Technology course, which is generally having a minimum of 50 to 60% marks in the PCM subjects in Class 12. After that, you should give relevant entrance tests and get decent marks.
The next step is to fill out the college application forms before the application window gets closed. After the exam results are out and you have your marks with you, you should apply for the college counselling process where you will be given a seat according to your exam rank.
After getting a seat, you must go to the allotted college to pay the BTech Silk Technology course fee after which you can start attending the course classes.

Entrance exams like JEE Main,  KCET, MHT CET, and state-level and university-specific engineering exams may be required by some colleges.
