IBPS RRB application form correction closed on October 7. The online form edit link was activated on October 6, 2025. The prelims exam of IBPS RRB Clerk prelims exam will be conducted on December 5, 7, 13 and 14, 2025. The prelims hall ticket for IBPS RRB Clerk will be released in the last week of November. IBPS RRB PO prelims exam will be conducted on November 22 and 23, 2025. The admit card is expected to be released in the second week of November 2025. The application process closed on September 28 for 13294 vacancies. 

IBPS RRB PO mains exam will be conducted on December 28, 2025. IBPS RRB Clerk mains exam will be conducted on February 1, 2025. The single online exam will be conducted on December 28, 2025. Read below for more details on IBPS RRB exam.

What is IBPS RRB Exam?

IBPS RRB is a national-level banking exam conducted every year by the Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) for candidates who aspire to join the Regional Rural Bank (RRBs). Recruitment is carried out for the following Group A and B posts.

For Officer-level posts, candidates are selected based on a preliminary exam, mains/single-level exam, and interview. For Office Assistant (Multipurpose)/Clerk post, candidates are selected based on preliminary and mains exams. Candidates provisionally shortlisted are allotted to one of the participating RRBs based on the number of vacancies and merit-cum-preference.

Aspirants must also read about National Recruitment Agency (NRA). The organisation has been formed by the Union Cabinet to conduct a Common Eligibility Test (CET) to appoint candidates in Non-Technical and Non-Gazetted Group B and C posts under SSC, RRB, and IBPS. NRA CET will serve as a screening/preliminary exam for subsequent stages of the selection process. NRA will only conduct the Prelims/Tier-I exam, while the other stages of selection will be conducted by the respective examination bodies.

What are Regional Rural Banks?

Regional Rural Banks or RRBs are the scheduled commercial government banks operating at the regional level in different states of India. RRBs have been created with a view of serving primarily the rural population by providing banking and financial services. The roles and responsibilities of RRBs are given below:

  • Providing banking services to rural and semi-urban areas
  • Carrying out activities such as disbursement of wages of MGNREGA workers, distribution of pensions, etc.
  • Providing facilities such as locker, debit and credit cards, mobile banking, internet banking, UPI, etc.

The purpose of conducting the IBPS RRB exam is to recruit candidates to the post of Officers Scale I, II, III, and Office Assistant to the different Gramin banks of the country. A total of 7.56 lakh candidates had registered for Office Assistant post, out of which 5.33 lakh candidates had appeared for the IBPS RRB exam. For Officers post, a total of 5.74 lakh candidates had applied for the IBPS RRB exam and 4.36 lakh candidates had appeared for the exam.

Q:   Why is IBPS RRB exam conducted?
A: 

Institute of Banking Personnel Selection (IBPS) conducts IBPS RRB exam for recruitment to the Regional Rural Banks (RRBs) or Gramin Banks. IBPS organises the RRB CWE Exam every year for the recruitment to the posts of Officers Scale 1, 2, 3 and Office Assistant. The exam is conducted online. IBPS is fully responsible for conducting RRB Common Written Exam (CWE). For the post of Office Assistant (Multipurpose) the examination is conducted in two phases i.e.  preliminary and mains. For the post of Officers Scale 1, the exam is conducted in three phases-prelims , mains and interview. For the post of Officers Scale 2 and 3, the exam is conducted in two phases single online exam and interview. In recent years, the level of competition for IBPS RRB exams has spurt exponentially. Graduates from any field of study can attempt this exam.

IBPS RRB PO prelims exam will be conducted on November 22 and 23, 2025. IBPS RRB Admit Card 2025

IBPS RRB prelims hall ticket will be released in November. To download the IBPS RRB call letter, candidates need to enter their registration number or roll number and date of birth or password. The hard copy of the admit card will not be sent to candidates by post. IBPS RRB admit card is an important document, and candidates are not allowed to appear for the exam without it. Candidates need to carry the printed copy of the admit card along with one photo-identity proof to the exam centre. Candidates appearing for the interview are required to carry the required documents prescribed by IBPS.

  • Watch, camera, or any metallic item are not allowed
  • Any eatable item opened or packed, water bottle, etc. are not allowed
  • Any other item which could be used for unfair means for hiding communication devices such as camera, bluetooth devices, etc. are not allowed
Iris Scan

Iris is scanned at the exam venue in lieu of a biometric thumb impression due to the COVID-19 situation. The process is given below:

  • Iris of the left eye is captured for all the candidates
  • Candidates are required to remove contact lenses and spectacles while capturing Iris
  • Half feet distance between scanner and eye is maintained

IBPS RRB Exam Centres

IBPS RRB exam centres are the cities where prelims and mains exams are conducted. The preliminary exam of IBPS RRB is conducted in more than 170 cities, while the mains exam is conducted in more than 70 cities. IBPS RRB Clerk exam pattern is divided into prelims and Mains exams. The prelims exam carries 80 marks. The Mains exam carries 200 marks. There are negative markings in both prelims and Mains exams. IBPS prescribed the IBPS RRB eligibility criteria in terms age limit, nationality and educational qualification. The eligibility criteria of IBPS RRB is given below.

IBPS RRB exam notification was released on September 1, 2025 to recruit eligible banking aspirants for Office Assistant (Clerk) and Officers Scale I, II and III in different Regional Rural Banks (RRBs). The short notification was released on August 31, 2025. IBPS RRB eligibility criteria is prescribed by the examination authority separately for different posts. The basic educational qualification for IBPS RRB exam is graduation. However, the educational qualification vary post-wise. The post-wise age limit for IBPS RRB exam is given below:

For Officer Scale- III (Senior Manager): Above 21 years-Below 40 years i.e. candidatesshould not have been born earlier than 03.06.1983 and later than 31.05.2002 (both dates inclusive)
For Officer Scale- II (Manager): Above 21 years - Below 32 years i.e. candidatesshould not have been born earlier than 03.06.1991 and later than 31.05.2002 (both dates inclusive)
For Officer Scale- I (Assistant Manager): Above 18 years - Below 30 years i.e. candidates should not have been born earlier than 03.06.1993 and later than 31.05.2005 (both dates inclusive)
For Office Assistant (Multipurpose): Between 18 years and 28 years i.e. candidates should not have been born earlier than 02.06.1995 and later than 01.06.2005 (both dates inclusive)

The upper age limit is relaxed for candidates belonging to reserved categories.

IBPS RRB result is declared in the following three stages:

IBPS RRB Result for Preliminary Exam

The preliminary exam is conducted for Officers Scale I and Office Assistant posts. The test comprises 80 objective-type questions from Reasoning Ability and Numerical Ability. The total marks allotted to the test are 80. Candidates qualifying the exam by securing the overall and subject-wise cut off marks are selected for the Mains exam. Depending on the number of vacancies, an adequate number of candidates under each category are shortlisted for the Mains exam. 

IBPS RRB Result for Mains/Single Level Exam 

IBPS RRB Mains examination is conducted for Officers Scale I and Office Assistant posts, while the single-level exam is held for Officers Scale II and III. The Mains exam comprises 200 objective type questions from Reasoning Ability, Numerical Ability, General Awareness, English/Hindi Language, and Computer Knowledge. The total marks allotted to the Mains exam are 200. Candidates for the post of Officers Scale I, II, and III are required to obtain a minimum score in each test of mains/single-level exam and in aggregate to be shortlisted for the interview. For Office Assistant (Multipurpose) posts, provisional allotment is done based on the marks obtained in the Mains exam. 

IBPS RRB Interview/Final Result 

Depending on the number of vacancies, candidates three times the number of vacancies are selected for the Interview. Candidates shortlisted in the mains/single level exams for Officers Scale I, II, and III posts are called for the interview. The interview carries a total of 100 marks. The examination authority decides a minimum qualifying mark for the interview. The result of the interview is declared along with the final result. 

The final IBPS RRB result is declared based on the scores of the Mains exam/single level examination and Interview. The relative weightage given to the Mains exam and interview is 80:20.

IBPS RRB normalisation is a process used to adjust the difficulty level of the question paper spread across various sessions. This is done since the exam is conducted in multiple shifts.
Q:   What is IBPS RRB tie-breaking process and reserve list?
A: 

In the event where RRBs have announced further vacancies, provisional allotment is carried out from the reserve list. Wherein two or more candidates secure the same score, the merit order is decided as per the date of birth. This means candidates senior in age are placed above the one junior in age.

Normalisation of IBPS RRB cut off is done to maintain transparency in the examination process.

To appear for the exam, candidates need to first fill IBPS RRB application form online on the official website. The application fee which can be paid online is INR 850 for General and OBC candidates and it is INR 175 for SC/ST/PWD categories.

Release of IBPS Admit Card

Separate admit cards are released for preliminary, mains/single level exams, and interviews. IBPS RRB admit card is released online on the official website. To download IBPS RRB admit card, candidates need to enter the registration number or roll number and date of birth or password. The hard copy of the admit card is not sent to candidates by post. The admit card is a mandatory document without which candidates are not allowed to appear in the exam. The steps to download IBPS RRB admit card are given below:

Provisional allotment to the post of Officers Scale II and III is done based on the performance of candidates in the single-level exam and interview.
