Q: You have scored 100 percentile in CUET-UG 2023. Was this result expected? Please tell us about your first reaction.
A: This result was definitely not expected. My family was overjoyed when they got to know about my results. My father told me that he is proud of me and my mom cried tears of joy!
Q: Tell us about your family and educational background?
A: I live in a nuclear family with my parents and my sister who is 10 years younger to me. I studied commerce with mathematics in class 12. I have completed my schooling at Bal Bharati Public School, Noida.
Q: How was your board result?
A: I was a CBSE board student and I scored 95.2% in class 12 board exams.
Q: When did you start preparing for the CUET Exam? What books did you refer to?
A: I had targeted B.Com (Hons.) from the University of Delhi. This meant that the General Test section (quantitative aptitude, logical reasoning and general knowledge) was not mandatory for getting admission. As I had to study only domain subjects, I started my preparation within five days of getting the board results. Otherwise, it would have been a-year-or-two long intensive preparation alongside school and extracurricular activities. When it comes to books, NCERT was my holy book for all subjects - I followed it religiously to prepare all my fundamental concepts. Apart from that, for business studies and economics, I referred to “Supplementary Material by Subhash Dey”. The MCQs it has are extensive and leave not even a single topic untouched. For Accountancy and English, I referred only to the study material of Supergrads by Toprankers, as it comprehensively covered NCERTs and gave me additional higher order questions to practise and improve my exam readiness. It helped me a lot in scoring well and securing this amazing percentile!
Q: How much time did you devote to self-study? What do you feel is better, coaching or self-study?
A: I attended online coaching from Toprankers for 6 hours and devoted an extra 5 hours of self study. For me, coaching is essential for providing a push to study regularly and also for systematically covering all the topics of the exam. I remember forgoing family functions and parties saying that i can’t come because I have to attend classes. However, self-study cannot be and should not be neglected at all. Because until and unless you revise what has been taught daily, it’s equal to studying nothing.
Q: Which subject is your strong one and which is the weakest? Are NCERT books sufficient for preparations?
A: Business Studies is my strong one and Accountancy is my weakest. NCERT books are not only sufficient but mandatory for preparations. I remember a question in accountancy that was asked in CUET 2023. It was related to the stamp act. And no reference was given to this topic in T.S. Grewal (the most widely referred book for accountancy). It was mentioned only in NCERT. The same goes for economics too, and more so for business studies. It’s because CUET is an MCQ based exam, not a subjective one. An in-depth and between-the-lines study of NCERT is required for cracking this objective exam. Even for mathematics, NCERT is sufficient. Higher level questions are not asked in the CUET exam. So I would recommend future aspirants to first complete NCERT and then refer to other books. Along with NCERT, go for a test series as it will let you know about your strengths and areas of improvement. For English and General Test, you can go for crash courses as it will help you a lot in topic-wise learning. Once I had completed my syllabus, I practiced extensively for the CUET exam through the Astra Series of Supergrads by Toprankers. It covers topics in every subject well. After each test, I was able to review my performance in detail which gave me a realistic understanding of which areas needed more improvement. Over successive tests, I was able to improve my score and time management and this helped me greatly in the exam.

Q: What was your exam day strategy? According to you, what was the toughest and easiest section?
A: Ruby ma’am, my accountancy teacher at school, taught me the exam day strategy. Following her guidance, I made a google document and whenever I came across any new concept or a different type of question or some short tricks of solving a question, I typed it in the document. I followed this in accountancy and it helped a lot in mathematics too. For business studies and economics, I cursorily glanced at my notes. And I was tension-free for English, because of Akash Richhariya sir, my English teacher at SuperGrads by Toprankers. His classes were crucial in my revision of all topics. In fact, he helped me solve many doubts that arose in my preparation, both during and after classes. The extensive notes which he provided us with during the course of his classes were sufficient for my final revision.
Q: Which all universities did you apply for? What was your dream college?
A: I applied for-
Among others.
My dream college was Shri Ram College of Commerce at the University of Delhi.
Q: What are the courses you are looking forward to?
A: I wish to study BCom (Hons). And my second preference is BA Economics Hons.

Q: To whom do you attribute your successful CUET journey? What would you suggest to future CUET aspirants in terms of preparation, attitude, etc.?
A: Primarily, I attribute my successful CUET journey to Lord Krishna, with whose blessings I could score such good marks. The credit also goes to my parents, my school teachers, teachers at SuperGrads and friends, who helped me a lot throughout my journey.
For the General Test, I suggest that a year-long preparation should be done. For domain subjects, I suggest that after board exams, students should study the topics which were not in boards but will be asked in CUET. And for already studied topics, mock tests should be attempted on a regular basis. Mock tests were crucial to my preparation, and as earlier said you can go for the Astra Test Series of Supergards by Toprankers. It’s essential to not just keep attempting tests but also evaluate your performance and see where you stand against the competition to keep improving. This was something I was able to get from SuperGrads’ test series. In fact, after every test, a detailed report was shared with me highlighting my strengths and weaknesses. Each question was discussed in detail through video analysis which helped me make notes for revision before each subsequent test.
After my board results, I was quite disheartened. I lost my hopes of having a perfect score in CUET. Still, I could score 100 percentile in four subjects. And, I also know people from other boards who got much lower marks than I in boards, still they could push their way to SRCC. So I would suggest the future aspirants not to demoralise themselves, kyuki jung abhi baaki hai mere dost! (the war is still on my friend!)
