To secure a seat in NLU Delhi, the AILET 2026 exam is conducted. Candidates who appear in the AILET exam may want to know about the difference between the AILET marks and rank. The National Law University Delhi released the AILET results on December 18, 2025. NLU Delhi has already closed the AILET counselling registrations. Candidates whose name included in the invite list participate in the counseling process to secure their seats in NLU Delhi. The NLU Delhi already released the AILET first merit list on January 8, 2026. Candidates whose names are not on the first merit list, they have to wait for the release of the other merit list. AILET Marks vs Rank
To secure a seat at NLU Delhi, both AILET rank and marks are important. Candidates can check their rank in the merit list. The AILET merit list includes the hall ticket number of the selected candidates with their all india rank. Read the details below for understanding the difference between the AILET marks and rank.
- Marks are the total number of correct answers given in the exam. (AILET rank is decided based on the marks score in the AILET exam)

AILET Tie-Breaking Method
The NLU Delhi uses a tie-breaking method in case two or more candidates score the same marks in the exam. The method below is followed in this case:
BA LLB program
- If two or more candidates get the same marks, their merit will be determined based on higher marks in the logical Reasoning section.
- If the tie persists, then the candidate senior in age will be given preference.
- If the tie is still undecided at this stage, then the merit rank will be decided by the computerized draw of lots.
LLM program
- Senior Age;

The expected AILET 2026 score for this rank range is likely between 119 and 121 marks. For the LL.M. program, the AILET 2026 cut-off rank for the General category is predicted to be around 50 or below.
AILET 2026 Counselling
NLU Delhi conducts the AILET counselling process for admission to the BA LLB and LLM courses. The qualified candidates will have to register for the process and participate as per the schedule. The university will release the merit lists for different rounds. - Tie-Breaking Criteria, which include:
- The candidate with higher marks in the Legal Reasoning section.
- If the tie is still there, the candidate with a higher score in the GK section.
- The age of the candidate can also be used as a tie-breaker.

No, AILET Entrance Exam cutoff is released separately for the various categories. For instance, the cut-off is available for categories like Open, OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PH categories. Note that open category candidates will not be considered for admission under reserved category seats. However, candidates belonging to reserved category will be considered for admission under both open and the reserved category they belong to. To be considered for admission under reserved category, the candidate must furnish the required category certificates. However, any candidate who is found using counterfeit documents can be disqualified at any stage of the admission process.
