10 Tips to Prepare for LSAT India 2025

LSAT-India exam will be conducted in a home-based and remotely-proctored mode in January 2025 and May 2025. The Law School Admission Council (LSAC)- Global will tentatively commence the LSAT India 2025 application process in August 2024 at lsatindia.in. Therefore, candidates should start preparing for the exam from now. LSAT India 2025 will be conducted for a duration of 2 hours 20 minutes, and is designed to test reasoning and reading skills of the candidates. Therefore, it is best that candidates prepare for the critical reading and logical reasoning skills to score well in the upcoming exam. Here are 10 tips to prepare for LSAT India 2025 in a strategic manner.

The question paper of LSAT India will carry different weightage for all sections - Logical Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning and Reading Skills. The question paper will comprise the following sections: 

LSAT India 2025 Sectional Weightage 

There are four sections of which, two of the sections contain Logical Reasoning questions, one section contains Analytical Reasoning questions, and one section contains Reading Comprehension questions. The amount of testing time allotted for each section is 35 minutes. All questions are in a multiple-choice format, having either four or five answer choices.

Candidates can prepare for the LSAT India by knowing the exam pattern, covering the syllabus, practising sample test papers and mock tests that are also available on the official website of LSAT India exam.

Practising by taking the sample tests allows students to apply and improve their reasoning and reading skills. This helps them to avoid surprises during the test and enhances their confidence to do their best.

The LSAT India allows students with good critical thinking skills to display those skills as they apply to law colleges. There are no questions at all that assess prior legal knowledge, no questions about mathematical knowledge, and no questions on current affairs or grammar. Therefore, it is absolutely unnecessary to study such facts in preparation for the LSAT—India, but it is absolutely necessary to prepare and to not wait until the last minute to do so.  

10 Tips to Prepare for LSAT India 2025

Here are some strategies that will help prospective test takers to organise their practice.

• First read through sample test questions to become familiar with the kinds of questions asked. Try to see if you can figure out the answers as you go along, and check whether you did or did not get the right answer. This stage of review should not be under time pressure. We recommend that you use one of the tests available on the LSAT India website for this purpose, working through all of the questions on this test without timing yourself.
• For the questions you did not get correct, try to figure out why the right answer is right and the answer you chose was incorrect. At this point, you should view the video introductions to the question types on the LSAT India website, if you haven’t done so already.
• Work through the 15 questions with explanations on the LSAT India website and make sure you understand each explanation.
• Now take one practise test section under timed conditions (35 minutes). Here it is important to simulate an actual test experience: NO DISTRACTIONS! Find a spot where you will not be disturbed.
• Computers and mobile phones need to be off. If you can have a friend or family member pretend to be an invigilator and time the section for you, you will have even fewer distractions. In this phase of your study, you should not check your answers until you have completed the section.
• Repeat this process with additional sections, taking them one at a time under timed conditions and then checking your answers. We recommend using two of the four tests available on the LSAT India website for this purpose; using this approach, you will have two Reading Comprehension sections, two Analytical Reasoning sections, and four Logical Reasoning sections on which to practise under timed conditions.
• Many test-takers benefit from concentrating on one section type at a time. For example, you might first take two Reading Comprehension sections, then take two Analytical Reasoning sections, and finally the four Logical Reasoning sections. Of course, this work should be spread over a considerable number of days to prevent fatigue.
• If you find a particular section type difficult, consult the resources on the LSAT India website. The Handbook explains in great depth how to understand the question types and the varieties of questions asked in the LSAT India. If there is a section type that you find more difficult, it is worthwhile to spend extra time reviewing any questions you get wrong in those sections.
• As you work on test sections under the 35-minute timing condition, assess how many questions you can comfortably handle in that time. The goal is to maximise the number of test questions you can get correct in 35 minutes. For some test-takers, that goal will be accomplished by attempting only 65% or 75% of the questions; for other test-takers, this goal will be accomplished by attempting to complete them all. You might perform best by attempting all on one section and attempting something less than all in another section. Remember that you are not penalized for guessing the wrong answer, so it is best to bubble in answer choices on the answer sheet for all the questions that you do not get to.
• Keep in mind that all questions are weighted the same in computing your score, so one Reading Comprehension question is worth the same as one Analytical Reasoning question. Once you have determined what your personal pattern of attack will be, we advise you take the last two practice tests under full testing conditions: four test sections, every 35 minutes. In this stage of your practice, you should not check your answers until the entire test is over.

Important: LSAT India is designed to be a difficult test. Unlike other examinations, test takers are not expected to get all or even most of the questions right.
