Q&A Icon
Commonly asked questions
Q:   How can I prepare for the Analytical Reasoning section of SLAT?
A:

Candidates must comprehend the types of questions that will be asked in the Logical Reasoning section before beginning their preparation. They must consult the SLAT question banks from prior years for this. By practising more, you'll learn tips and shortcuts that make answering problems fast and readily possible. Obtaining the proper set of books for the logical reasoning section is also crucial. There are several publications on the market, both online and offline, that provide practise materials, a detailed and descriptive understanding of the subjects, and a method for answering the questions. The correct literature will aid candidates in more effective and efficient preparation. Try to stay focused as you practise SLAT mock exams and sample papers.

Q:   Do I need to cover the entire syllabus for SLAT preparation?
A:

The Symbiosis Law Admission Test authority does not provide subtle details about the SLAT syllabus. Thus, the syllabus for SLAT cannot be specified accurately. The exam authority only shares the details associated with the sections related to the SLAT question paper, which are Analytical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning, Logical Reasoning, General English, and General Knowledge. Thus, candidates only study to prepare for relevant sections along with mathematics (of level up to Class 10) and current affairs to prepare for SLAT.

Q:   How can I prepare for Current Affair questions asked in SLAT?
A:

Preparing current affairs for SLAT preparation is a matter of continuously updating your knowledge about recent years. Thus, to do so, candidates need to use methods that can help them learn about important events related to different events. These methods include watching news channels and exploring online sources related to the latest events. These two methods can be highly time-consuming. Thus, other effective ways to prepare for the Current Affairs section of the SLAT exam are to read books from renowned publications related to current affairs and join social media channels and groups formed for current affairs-related preparation for entrance exams. The book that can help SLAT aspirants with current affairs preparation is Lucent Publication’s Pratiyogita Darpan. The monthly edition of the book can help in this context.

Q&A Icon
Commonly asked questions
Q:   On which paper should I print my SLAT admit card?
A:

Candidates need to print their SLAT admit card on an A4 size paper using a laser printer. The admit card is valid only if the candidate's photograph is legibly printed. The candidate's photograph and signature images should be legibly printed and visible on the photo ID card and should match the name on the admit card. The photo ID card (a photo ID card issued by the government, such as the Aadhar Card, PAN Card, and Voter ID) should not be damaged or smudged. The SLAT admit card will be submitted at the time of the exam.

Q:   Which documents do I need to carry to the exam centre along with my SLAT admit card?
A:
Candidates need to carry a valid photo ID proof to the exam centre along with a coloured printout of their SLAT admit card. This photo ID proof can be an Aadhaar Card, voter ID, PAN Card, driving licence, or passport. The reason for which the exam supervising authority asks candidates to carry their photo ID proof is that they want to ensure their identity. Aadhaar Card and Voter ID are the best photo ID proofs that can help Indian citizens verify their identity. Thus, it is advised to all SLAT exam takers that they must carry one of the two photo ID proofs to the SLAT exam centre. The photo ID proof should be original because photocopies or printouts of ID proofs are not accepted by the exam authority. The ID proof will only be used to recognise the candidates. It will not be submitted by the authority.
Q:   When will SLAT 2026 admit card be released?
A:

SLAT admit card 2026 is expected to be released in November 2025 on its official website. Registered candidates will have to download the admit card of SLAT by logging in to their account. SLAT admit card is a crucial document to be carried to the exam centre on the exam day, however, candidates will have to carry a valid ID proof along with that to the exam centre.

Commonly asked questions
Q:   What is a good score for SLAT?
A:
A good score for SLAT results depends on the cut-off of the Symbiosis Law School in which you want to enrol. For example, if a candidate scores a 91.5 percentile in the SLAT exam in a particular year and he or she wants to get admission to SLS Pune, which accepts candidates with a minimum percentile of 75, a 91.5 percentile is definitely a good score for admission to SLS Pune. Thus, to ensure whether percentile scores obtained by candidates in the SLAT exam are good or not, they need to check the cut-off score of the SLS (SLS Pune, SLS Nagpur, SLS Noida, and SLS Hyderabad) in which they want to apply for a 5-year LL.B. Course.

Thus, SLS Noida is one of the options for candidates who want to take the SLAT and get admission to a law college in the South. No other college in the northern states of India accepts the score of the SLAT exam. Two SLSs, namely, SLS Pune and SLS Nagpur, can help candidates get admission to these two colleges in western India. However, SLS Hyderabad is the option for candidates who want to take the SLAT and get admission to a law college in South India.

To get admission to a BA LLB (Hons), BBA LLB (Hons), BA LLB, or BBA LLB course through SLAT, candidates will have to follow the steps mentioned below:

SLAT 2026 Selection Process in Detail

SLAT

To get admission to one of the 5-year LLB courses offered by a Symbiosis Law School, you first need to take the Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT). There are no minimum qualifying marks for SLAT. But candidates need to make their place on the SLAT merit list for admission.

The SLAT merit list is prepared based on marks obtained by candidates. Considering their marks, ranks are allotted to them. These ranks are arranged in an ascending order (from highest rank to lowest rank) to create SLAT merit lists.

SLAT PI

SLAT PI is somewhat similar to a "Statement of Purpose" (SOP). But candidates are required to answer questions in this round verbally. SLAT PI can be conducted online or offline. The mode of this interview round depends on the notification provided by the Symbiosis Law Admission Test (SLAT) authority.

Commonly asked questions
Q:   Which is the best college which I can get admission in through SLAT?
A:

The best college for candidates to get admission to law courses through the SLAT exam depends on multiple factors. The first is the quality of education offered by the institution. Other criteria that can help in finding the best college accepting SLAT scores depend on the amenities offered by the institution for the overall legal aptitude and personality development of candidates. These criteria include an excellent moot court facility, research assistance, and co-curricular activities that foster the personality development of candidates. Thus, while selecting the best college that accepts SLAT scores, candidates must consider the mentioned criteria. These colleges include, SLS Pune, SLS Noida, SLS Nagpur, SLS Hyderabad. Candidates can also opt for other law colleges that accept SLAT results according to their personal educational goals and aspirations.

Q:   What is the process of selecting the SLAT test city for the allotment of the exam centre?
A:

There are more than 75 cities where the SLAT exam is conducted. These 75 cities, spread across India, consist of metropolitan cities, capital cities, Tier-2 cities, and Tier-3 cities. The candidate can select up to three cities for the allotment of test centres. The process of test city selection is part of the SLAT application process. In the SLAT application form, there is a field in which candidates have to select the cities. They need to select the city of preference in an order of 1 to 3. The examination authorities will try to allot the test centre to the city of first preference. Thus, candidates must fill out all three cities carefully. They must choose their home city or city of current residence as their first preference. The test city option can only be changed during the form correction window. After that, the request for a change of city will not be accepted by the exam authorities.

Q:   What are my career opportunities if I attend a reputed law college after passing the SLAT exam?
A:

Candidates who clear the SLAT exam need to note that passing this exam is not a guarantee of a successful career in law, even if you attend a highly reputed law college. They must work hard to develop the real-life skills that are required to succeed as lawyers during their years of education at a law college. They need to learn all the law-related lessons taught to them at the college and implement them practically by participating in moot court activities and internships to gain the legal knowledge applicable to real life scenarios. Moreover, the career opportunities in law also depend on the law in which you specialise. The job opportunities in the field of law will be related to your specialisation in law.
