SLAT 2026: Application (Started), Exam Date (Dec 20 & Dec 28), Syllabus, Previous Year Question Papers

Both the exams, SLAT & CLAT are based on the 10+2 level syllabus and candidates may find both the exams' difficulty on the same level. SLAT 2026 refers to the Symbiosis Law Admission Test which is conducted by the four SLSs (Symbiosis Law Schools) in India. Candidates seeking admission to these course can appear for the SLAT 2026 exam scheduled to be conducted on December 20, & 28, 2025. A total of 4 colleges, including SLS Nagpur, SLS Noida, SLS Hyderabad, and SLS Pune, accept the SLAT exam. Candidates need to pass the SLAT exam, PI and What to get admission to one of the four colleges that accept SLAT scores. The weightage for SLAT PI and What will be considered for admission to Symbiosis Law College. The weight of the SLAT entrance test will be 50 marks. The weights of PI and What will be 30 marks and 20 marks, respectively.

The SLAT 2026 application fee will be INR 2,250 that can be paid online at the time of filling out the SLAT application form 2026 on the website of Symbiosis Entrance Test. Candidates also need to pay an additional application fee of INR 1000 to apply to each Symbiosis Law School. For example, if a candidate filled out the SLAT application form for Symbiosis Law School Nagpur and Symbiosis Law School Pune, he or she will have to pay INR 2,250 as the SLAT application fee and INR 2000 for the two Symbiosis Law Schools (application fee of INR 1000 for each Symbiosis Law School). Applicants will be able to apply for all SLSs through SLAT in 2026. Here, they need to know that the mentioned information about the SLAT application fee is based on previous years' data. It can be subject to change as per the guidelines of the Symbiosis Entrance Test Authority.

SLAT exam authority uses University Grants Commission (UGC) guidelines for SLAT reservation policy. As per the exam authority, the total percentage of reserved seats for Scheduled Caste (SC) candidates is 15. The total percentage of seats reserved for Scheduled Tries candidates in SLAT is 7.5%. The exam authority has reserved 5% of seats for wards of Defence Personnel at Symbiosis Law School Pune. The reservation facility for wards of Defence personnel is not available at the other three Symbiosis Law Schools. Moreover, 3% of total seats are reserved for Different Able candidates in all SLSs through SLAT.

 

Multiple-choice questions are asked in the SLAT question papers. Candidates are required to answer these questions in a computer-based test mode (online). They will also be able to skip questions if they do not know their answers. However, it is recommended for all SLAT candidates to answer all questions because there is no negative marking scheme in the SLAT exam. The option of marking for review is also available for questions in the SLAT question paper. Candidates can answer these questions later before clicking on the submit or end exam button. 

The main subjects from which questions are asked in the SLAT exam are Logical Reasoning, Analytical Reasoning, Legal Reasoning Mathematics, General Knowledge, and Current Affairs. The main mathematics topics for SLAT 2023 exam are the topics related to the Class 10 Math syllabus. Under the General Knowledge subject, static GK questions related to History, Geography, Indian and International Politics are asked. However, in the Current Affairs subject related to the exam, questions related to recent national and international events are asked. Candidates must comprehend the types of questions that will be asked in the Logical Reasoning section before beginning their preparation. The SLAT exam will comprise a total of 60 questions which will be required to be answered in 60 minutes (1 hour). There will be five sections in SLAT 2026 exam and each section will have 12 questions. Candidates must practice previous year papers and sample papers to understand the structure of exam and level of questions asked in exam. 

Candidates need to print their SLAT admit card on an A4 size paper using a laser printer. The admit card is valid only if the candidate's photograph is legibly printed. The candidate's photograph and signature images should be legibly printed and visible on the photo ID card and should match the name on the admit card. The photo ID card (a photo ID card issued by the government, such as the Aadhar Card, PAN Card, and Voter ID) should not be damaged or smudged. The SLAT admit card will be submitted at the time of the exam.

Candidates need to carry a valid photo ID proof to the exam centre along with a coloured printout of their SLAT admit card. This photo ID proof can be an Aadhaar Card, voter ID, PAN Card, driving licence, or passport. The reason for which the exam supervising authority asks candidates to carry their photo ID proof is that they want to ensure their identity. Aadhaar Card and Voter ID are the best photo ID proofs that can help Indian citizens verify their identity. Thus, it is advised to all SLAT exam takers that they must carry one of the two photo ID proofs to the SLAT exam centre. The photo ID proof should be original because photocopies or printouts of ID proofs are not accepted by the exam authority. The ID proof will only be used to recognise the candidates. SLAT admit card 2026 is expected to be released in November 2025 on its official website. Registered candidates will have to download the admit card of SLAT by logging in to their account. SLAT admit card is a crucial document to be carried to the exam centre on the exam day, however, candidates will have to carry a valid ID proof along with that to the exam centre.

A good score for SLAT results depends on the cut-off of the Symbiosis Law School in which you want to enrol. For example, if a candidate scores a 91.5 percentile in the SLAT exam in a particular year and he or she wants to get admission to SLS Pune, which accepts candidates with a minimum percentile of 75, a 91.5 percentile is definitely a good score for admission to SLS Pune. Thus, to ensure whether percentile scores obtained by candidates in the SLAT exam are good or not, they need to check the cut-off score of the SLS (SLS Pune, SLS Nagpur, SLS Noida, and SLS Hyderabad) in which they want to apply for a 5-year LL.B. While selecting a Symbiosis Law School for admission through SLAT, candidates must consider some specific factors related to their educational and personal needs. Two SLSs, namely, SLS Pune and SLS Nagpur, can help candidates get admission to these two colleges in western India. There are more than 75 cities where the SLAT exam is conducted. These 75 cities, spread across India, consist of metropolitan cities, capital cities, Tier-2 cities, and Tier-3 cities. The candidate can select up to three cities for the allotment of test centres. The process of test city selection is part of the SLAT application process. In the SLAT application form, there is a field in which candidates have to select the cities. They need to select the city of preference in an order of 1 to 3. The examination authorities will try to allot the test centre to the city of first preference. Thus, candidates must fill out all three cities carefully. They must choose their home city or city of current residence as their first preference. The test city option can only be changed during the form correction window. After that, the request for a change of city will not be accepted by the exam authorities.

The option of correcting details of applicants through the correction window is not available for SLAT 2025 exams. All the aspirants who want to apply for SLAT in the future need to note that the SET exam authority does not provide a SLAT correction window to allow candidates to correct details in their application and registration forms for the SLAT exam. Thus, they need to ensure that all the details they will fill out on the SLAT application and registration forms are correct. They will not get any chance to correct the details. Thus, all SLAT applicants must review their SLAT application and registration forms before submitting them.

• Candidates first need to register for SLAT by filling out the registration form and then they need to fill out the application form as well. 
• The registration fee for SLAT 2025 is INR 2,250. However, the SLAT institute registration fee is INR 1,000. 
• The institue registration fee refers to the fee that candidates need to pay to apply for a particular Symbiosis Law School. 
• They can apply for one, two, three or all four Symbiosis Law School by paying the institute application fee for each. 
• The SLAT application/registration form needs to be filled out online.
