IIT Dhanbad MBA Admission Criteria 2026: Check Application Dates, CAT Cutoffs and PI Shortlist

The CAT cut offs for IIM Bangalore hovers between 97-100 percentile. Qualifying CAT cut off percentiles of an IIM is the minimum percentile (sectional as well as overall) required by candidates to be eligible for the Written Ability Test (What) and Personal Interview PI round. These are only eligibility score and not the score for selection. The final CAT cut off percentiles are the scores on the basis of which a candidate is actually selected for the What-PI round. The total tuition fee of the IIT Dhanbad MSc programme ranges from INR 36,000 to INR 54,000. The total course will further be higher as that includes other components such as Institute Admission fee, Hostel admission fee, benevolent fund, identity card, medical examination fee, Alumnus subscription & IIT Alumni fee, institute development fund, convocation charges, caution money and migration fee. No, the eligibility criteria for BTech dual degree courses at IIT Dhanbad is the same as regular BTech admissions.

Candidates are required to clear Class 12 board exams with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as mandatory subjects and score an aggregate higher or equal to 75% to qualify for the Dual Degree BTech courses.

IIT Dhanbad has a total seat intake of 596 which is divided into all 16 specialisations of the course. The seat intake of some popular specialisations are Chemical Engineering (27), CSE (50), Civil Engineering (32), Management Studies (40), etc. After CCMT counselling, seat allotment is carried out as per the seat intake for each M.Tech specialisation.

IIT Dhanbad accepts admission based on the scoring in JEE Main and JEE Advanced entrance exams followed by JoSAA counselling. This is the only criterion for admission to a BTech course at IITs. To get admission to M.Tech in IIT Dhanbad, students need to be eligible to apply for the course. The Institute accepts admission based on GATE entrance scores followed by COAP counselling. Having a good academic profile for IIM admission is very critical. The top 6 IIMs lay a lot of emphasis on Class 10 and Class 12 score for selection of candidates for WAT-PI round. The academic profile is evaluated again at the time of preparation of final merit list. The academic profile is assessed for academic as well as gender diversity. Which means a candidate who studied Arts in Class 12 may be selected for PI with lower marks than a candidate who studied Science in Class 12.

Candidates aiming for IIMs must know that while the importance of academic profile is very important for top IIMs, it is moderately important for rest of the IIMs. For, other top MBA colleges, overall profile matters more than academic score.
