Placements: In 2025, IIT Dhanbad saw an overall placement rate of 76.36% for the 2024-25 academic year, with 70% placed and the highest package of 60 LPA and an average package of 13 LPA. The placement scenario varies by department, with Computer Science and Engineering achieving an 86.50% placement rate and Petroleum Engineering achieving a high of 93.33%. Major recruiters include Google, Microsoft, and Tata.

Placements: The placement of my branch is best among others because this college is mainly known for Mining of petroleum and Metallurgy as well as material engineering. Almost 90% students are placed every year with an average package of 12 LPA that goes to 34 LPA. Companies that come for this branch are mostly PSUs like Bharat Petroleum, ONGC, Indian Oil, and many more. Internships are offered to 80% students. They hire for a System Engineer and a manager role.

Placements: The placements used to be top-notch 2-3 years back. But with the increase of seats and slowdown in the mining sector, the job opportunities were not as good as before. Many reputed companies like KPMG, TATA Steel, PWC, Tata Consultant Engineers, Tega Industries, and Aditya Birla recruited through this branch. Placements: Being an IIT, the college has a full potential for placements. There is a nice exposure to MBA students for working in the core companies. There are many companies to work with. I did my summer internship at Turtle, India, and my winter internship at Coal India Limited. Both online with the HR course.

Highly paid companies like Citibank, Barclays, Google, Microsoft, and Amazon are on the list. They will be coming at the beginning to filter out the cream layer.
