What are GPAT Scores and Rank?
The GPAT Scores are the marks obtained by the candidate in the exam. The GPAT examination has a maximum score of 500 points with a combination of multiple-choice questions and negative marking. The GPAT Rank referred to as the AIR (All India Rank), is the overall position of the candidate with respect to everyone else who took the GPAT. The AIR is determined based upon the candidate's GPAT scores, through their scores being Normalised (if applicable) then any Tie-Breaking Procedures followed. So simply put, the higher someone scores on the GPAT the better their rank will be (lower number), though GPAT scores to rank correlation varies yearly.
Why Does The Same Score on the GPAT Not Lead To The Same Rank Every Year?
There is not fixed GPAT Score to Rank correlation; this changes each year by. The number of candidates taking the exam each year. The difficulty level of the exam (e.g. If an easy exam was administered, then the cut-off score would have been higher for that exam as compared to a difficult exam). The overall level of student performance that year. The process used to Normalise All Sessions of the GPAT (if applicable). So, therefore, a candidate scoring 200 points might have been ranked 800 one year and ranked 1200 the next year.

Suggestions to maximize score and rank in GPAT exam
A small score difference results in big gaps in academic standings, thus it is vital for a student to work with a targeted approach when preparing.
- Prepare with a SMART strategy (Specific, Measurable, Attainable, Relevant, and Time-sensitive) based upon the following priority subjects: Pharmaceutics, Pharmacology, and Medicinal Chemistry.
- When studying, students should complete the last ten years' worth of GPAT test questions.
- Correctly calculate quickly.
- Complete mock GPAT tests on a consistent basis.
- Revisit GPAT Number All forms and classifications of drugs.
- Secure a target GPAT score (to admission):
When preparing for the GPAT exam, students should not only work to pass the exam but to achieve a competitive score; this score will be a factor when selecting an institution for M.Pharm studies, the branch of pharmacy to be pursued, and the type of placement opportunities that will be available following graduation, as well as scholarship opportunities.

Statistically, it is extremely difficult. Because GPAT-qualified candidates are granted absolute preference and occupy the top of the provisional merit list, high-demand branches like Pharmaceutics and Pharma Technology are usually filled completely by GPAT rankers during Round 1.
