Maharashtra NEET 2026 Counselling will start after the declaration of NEET UG result. The National Testing Agency conducted the NEET UG Re-Exam 2026 on June 21 after the cancellation of the previous year (conducted on May 3) due to paper leak cases reported across the nation. The NTA will release the NEET UG result 2026 in July and the candidates who qualify in the exam will be asked to fill their Counselling registration form.

The Maharashtra NEET UG 2026 Counselling will start in August. The state Counselling authority will ask the qualified candidates to fill their college and course preferences in the registration form.

What is Maharashtra NEET Counselling 2026

The CET CELL NEET UG 2026 counselling for Maharashtra will be conducted for admission to the state quota seats in government/corporation, government-aided and all the quota seats in private/minority colleges of Maharashtra state. The Counselling conducting authority will release a dedicated website for this purpose in its information bulletin. 

To participate in the counselling process for MBBS and BDS and allied course seats, one must have qualified for NEET 2026. A total of 9,000 MBBS and 3,526 BDS seats in the state will be filled through Maharashtra NEET UG counselling 2026. The state counselling process is conducted in a completely online mode, except for the last round, which is the institute reporting or the document verification process.

Q:   Can students from other states participate in the Maharashtra NEET UG counselling?
A: 

Yes, candidates belonging to other states apart from Maharashtra are also eligible to participate in the NEET UG counselling. However, while filling the registration form for Maharashtra NEET UG counselling, they must not select the Maharashtra domicile category. Only those belonging to the Maharashtra state should select the state domicile category. Rest of the candidates may select the NRI category or other than Maharashtra state category and provide the documents accordingly.

Candidates planning to participate in the Maharashtra MBBS Counselling 2026 are advised to check the eligibility criteria stated by the counselling authority. Eligibility criteria for Maharashtra NEET 2026 counselling are as follows:

  • Candidates must be citizens of India
  • They must secure qualifying marks for NEET 2026
  • They must have passed Class 10 or equivalent from an institute located in Maharashtra

Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2026 Registration Process

Steps to fill the application form for Maharashtra NEET counselling 2026 are given below.

  • Visit the portal released for Counselling(will be released in information bulletin)

  • Click on the Login/Registration tab

  • Click on Registration
  • Read the instructions 

  • Enter the details such as NEET Roll Number, NEET Application Number, Date of Birth, Mobile Number and Email ID

  • Enter the OTP received on the mobile number and Email

  • Click on Create Account

  • Click on the Sign-In tab

  • Enter the Mobile Number or Email ID and password and click on the Login tab

  • Enter the mandatory information such as personal and academic details, choose course and colleges

  • Upload documents in not more than 300 KB file size

  • Pay the application fee online, save the application confirmation page, and take multiple printouts.

Candidates will have to fill the Maharashtra NEET counselling 2026 application form carefully to participate in the seat allotment process. Remember that applications once submitted cannot be edited/ changed.

Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2026 Provisional Merit List

After the registration and document verification process, the competent authority prepares a provisional merit list. This list includes only those candidates who registered on the online portal and got their documents verified. 

Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2026 Seat Matrix

DTE Maharashtra will release the course-wise seat matrix before the choice filling process. Candidates will have to fill in choices based on the course-wise availability of seats.

Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2026 Choice Filling Process

Candidates who make it to the provisional state merit list will be eligible to participate in the counselling of Maharashtra NEET UG 2026. They have to fill in their preferences (course/college) by logging into their registered accounts. One must note that the preference filled once cannot be changed and thus must not be filled in haste. The choices filled during the first round of Maharashtra NEET UG counselling 2026 will be considered for the entire counselling process.

Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2026 Result

After the Maharashtra NEET UG 2026 counselling choice filling process, DTE Maharashtra will release the seat allotment results for each round. The result will be declared in the form of PDFs. After downloading it, candidates will have to find their Roll Number or Registration Number to check the seat allotment status. They will have to report to the allotted institutes to accept the offer, or they can participate in the next rounds by resigning from the offered seats. Failure to report to the allocated institute will result in forfeiture of their candidature.

Maharashtra NEET UG Counselling 2026 Document Verification

Candidates have to report to the allotted institute for verification of the documents. They have to carry the original certificates along with an attested copy for verification to the institute. The schedule for online verification of the documents will be released later. The candidate must be present physically at the centre for verification of the documents.

Q:   What is the deadline for reporting to the allotted college and confirming admission after each round of Maharashtra NEET counselling?

In general, the Maharashtra NEET Counselling institute reporting process is conducted for three to four days for each round. Candidates will have to check the important dates carefully and report to the institutes within the deadline. In certain cases, the last date of reporting to the institutes is extended. DTE Maharashtra conducts institute reporting separately for courses or candidate categories. 

Q:   Is there a provision for upgradation of seats after the first round of Maharashtra NEET UG counselling?

Yes, after the declaration of the Maharashtra NEET counselling seat allotment result, candidates will be given the option to upgrade the seat choice. Based on that, the counselling authorities will upgrade the seats based on the choices entered by candidates, in case the desired seat is vacant after the institute reporting process is concluded.

Q:   When will DTE Maharashtra release the Maharashtra NEET UG counselling 2025 seat matrix?
A: 

DTE Maharashtra will release the seat matrix for Maharashtra NEET UG 2025 counselling before each round. For Round 1 counselling of MBBS and BDS courses, the seat matrix was released on August 6, 2025. For Round 2, the seat matrix will be released on September 19, 2025. For the AYUSH and Medical Allied courses, the seat matrices were released on September 10 and September 11, 2025. For Maharashtra NEET 2025 Counselling Round 2, the AYUSH seat matrix will be out on September 27, 2025, followed by the Medical Allied course seat matrix on October 1, 2025. For the Stray Round of MBBS and BDS counselling, the seat matrix was released on November 11, 2025. The course-wise counselling is conducted separately, and hence, the seat matrix for different course groups will be out at different durations of the Maharashtra NEET UG counselling 2025.

The fee structure for all medical/dental colleges is dynamic. The fee structure for all government and private colleges is revised almost every year. Yes, BSc Nursing admission in Maharashtra is based on MH Nursing CET. NEET is not required for admission. Students need to apply and appear for the MH Nursing CET exam.
