The NIELIT Exam O/A/B/C Levels (January 2026) theory examinations are ongoing and will continue till January 14, 2026. The exams will be conducted in computer-based mode at designated NIELIT examination centres.

Apart from the O/A/B/C Levels exams, CHMT-O Level (Computer Hardware Maintenance Technician) entrance exams are also being conducted, which will continue until January 18, 2026.

NIELIT Theory Exam Schedule
The exams are being held in both online and offline formats-
  • A, B, and C Levels (Offline):
    • Forenoon Session: 09:30 AM to 12:30 PM (Modules A5-R5, B1.1-R5, B2.1-R5, C1-R4, C6-R4).
    • Afternoon Session: 02:00 PM to 05:00 PM (Modules A6-R5, B3.2-R5, B-ES-R5, B0.1-R5, B3.E4-R5, C0-R4.B1, CE1.2-R4).
  • O Level & CHMT-O Level (Online):
    • Conducted in four distinct batches throughout the day:
      • Batch 1: 09:30 AM – 11:00 AM
      • Batch 2: 11:30 AM – 01:00 PM
      • Batch 3: 02:00 PM – 03:30 PM
      • Batch 4: 04:00 PM – 05:30 PM

The NIELIT exam is an online, computer-based test conducted twice a year, in January and July, at various examination centres. NIELIT offers courses in various categories, including Information Technology, IT Literacy Programme, Hardware Technology, and Multimedia and Animation Technology.

What is NIELIT?

The National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology  (NIELIT) exam certifies professionals in various IT and digital literacy skills, preparing them for recruitment to government jobs at various levels. The NIELIT Exam is conducted twice a year for admission to O, A, B, and C-level courses.
The NIELIT, erstwhile DOEACC Society, is an autonomous scientific society under the administrative control of the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MoE&IT), Government of India. Q:   What is the pattern of NIELIT O level exam?

The NIELIT O level will be conducted as a pen-and-paper test. The students have to attempt four theory papers and one practical exams. The theory exam will be of objective multiple-choice type. Each paper will be of 100 marks. There will be no adverse marking for wrong answers. NIELIT O level is conducted twice a year.

NIELIT OEAF stands for the Online Examination Application Form, which has to be filled out by the registered candidates to appear in the entrance exam. In addition to registration, the candidates will also need to fill out and submit the NIELIT OEAF before the last date. The official NIELIT 2026 admit card for the O/A/B/C level exam January 2026 cycle are available to download at student.nielit.gov.in. Through the NIELIT admit card, the students can check their allotted exam centre, date, timings and more. At the exam centre, they will have to bring their admit card and one original identity proof. They can bring any of the following - Aadhaar Card/Voter ID/PAN Card/Passport/School ID/Any Govt.-approved ID. If the hall ticket and identity proof are not presented at the centre, they will not be allowed to enter for the exam. The allotted centres cannot be changed. For other mistakes, the authorities should be contacted immediately.

The login details for accessing the NIELIT admit card are the application number and date of birth. No other platform will be utilised to publish the admit card of NIELIT. Upon downloading the admit card, take a printout for further use.

Institutes must submit the list of candidates once it is withdrawn or closed. In these cases, the candidate's name should be on the list provided by the institute, which will then allow them to sit in the exam.

Q:   How many zones are there in the NIELIT Examination Centres?
A: 

NIELIT examination centres are classified into five zones, i.e., the North Zone, North-East Zone, East Zone, South Zone, and West Zone. NIELIT examination centres are categorised into Primary and Secondary centres. 

The exam will be organised at over 120 NIELIT centres across India. The examination will be organised at all the Primary centres. The exam centres are based on the number of candidates who are taking the exam. Also, it is to be remembered that if a candidate selects one of the secondary centres as the first choice in his/her application form, he/she will be allotted a primary centre as the second choice.

  • Retotalling of marks for any module/paper can be requested in the specified pro forma within one month of the result sheet date, along with a fee of INR 200/- per module/paper.
  • On successful completion of the modules or papers and of the project, the candidates are awarded certificates/diplomas by NIELIT.
  • 'B' level candidates, on successful completion of the first ten papers, which are common to 'A' level and of the first project, are awarded the Advanced Diploma, as are 'A' level successful candidates.
  • Results of O, A, B & C Levels will be available on the NIELIT Website.
  • The exam authorities also send the results to the institutes conducting accredited courses, where the candidates have to appear for the examination.

The grading system ranges from S for 85% and higher to F for a score of less than 50%. Soon, the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology is going to release the NIELIT 2025 O/A/B/C January cycle result. Here it goes:

NIELIT Application Process 2026

To apply for the NIELIT O/A/B/C-level exams, candidates must create and activate a user account, verify their contact details, and complete their profile by uploading a photograph, signature, and left thumb impression in accordance with official specifications. After updating personal and correspondence details, candidates must lock* their profile to be able to access the examination form, select modules and exam centres, and pay fees online or via CSC-SPV services.
*Please note that locking the profile is an irreversible action.

NIELIT 2026 O/A/B/C January cycle application forms were available around September-October 2025. NIELIT 2026 O/A/B/C courses January cycle applications are now over. No applications will be accepted after the NIELIT 2026 application form deadline. All proper and valid details had to be entered in the NIELIT 2026 application form for O/A/B/C courses.

Yes, it is compulsory to fill out the Online Examination Application Form (OEAF). There is no provision for offline or physical forms. Here to note is that the Physical Examination Application Form has been discontinued from the July 2013 Examination onwards.

No, a candidate can only register for one level at a time. Candidates must clear their current level (O, A, B, or C) before moving to the next level.

NIELIT 2026 Eligibility Criteria

Registration is a pre-requisite for candidates to appear in the NIELIT 2026 O/A/B/C level examinations. At O/A/B/C levels, candidates will be eligible to appear in any paper, in any order, if the subject has been covered in the institution running the accredited course and as mentioned on the application form. Candidates can directly appear in examinations if they satisfy the eligibility criteria as applicable to them. 

Those candidates who sit for the 'O' level course may appear in the first two modules of the 'O' level examination after six months of the commencement of the accredited course and in the remaining two modules after the completion of one year of the commencement of the accredited course. Further, graduate candidates registered for an 'O' level course may appear in the examination for all modules in a single attempt.

Educational Qualification for NIELIT 2026 Exam (O/A/B/C Level)

  • Candidates aspiring for the NIELIT 2026 exam should have completed the 12th class from a recognised board for Bachelor’s degree courses and Bachelor’s degree for Postgraduate Degree courses from a recognised institute/university.
  • At O/A/B/C level exams of NIELIT, candidates can appear in any paper, in any order, if the subject has been covered in the institution running the accredited course and so endorsed on the application form. Direct candidates can appear in examinations if they satisfy the eligibility criteria as applicable.
  • Candidates undergoing an 'O' level accredited course by NIELIT will be eligible to appear in the first two modules of the 'O' level NIELIT examination six months after the commencement of the accredited course and in the remaining two modules after the completion of one year of the commencement of the accredited course. This is subject to the condition that the subjects have been covered in the accredited course by the institute and so endorsed in the examination application forms as per the format therein.
  • Graduate Candidates registered for the NIELIT 2026 'O' level course may appear for all modules in a single attempt.
  • ​NIELIT Examinations are conducted across nearly 120 centres all over the country. The conduct of examinations at these centres is liable to change.
  • Candidates aspiring for the NIELIT Exam 2026 have to choose primary centres and secondary centres. Examinations will be conducted at all the primary centres.
  • For the examination to be carried out at any of these primary centres will depend upon the number of candidates and infrastructure available at these centres. In case of an insufficient number of students or for any other administrative reasons, one or more of these primary centres may be cancelled by the exam conducting authority.
  • While filling application form for the NIELIT Exam 2026, candidates who choose one of the secondary centres as a first choice in their forms for examinations are required to give a primary centre as a second choice.

NIELIT 2026 Application Fee

While filling out the NIELIT 2026 O/A/B/C level application form, the candidates had to pay the required application fee. The fee payment had to be done online (net banking/credit card/debit card) or through the CSC SPV service. It was to be noted that extra service charges were added as per the mode of payment selected by the candidates. The NIELIT 2026 application fee was non-refundable.

You cant retrieve it. You would need to log in again and submit the online examination application form again. There is no facility for saving the details.

Q:   When will the NIELIT 2026 O/A/B/C January cycle application form be released?

NIELIT 2026 O/A/B/C January cycle application forms were available around September-October 2025. NIELIT 2026 O/A/B/C courses January cycle applications are now over. No applications will be accepted after the NIELIT 2026 application form deadline. All proper and valid details had to be entered in the NIELIT 2026 application form for O/A/B/C courses. 

Q:   Is it possible for a candidate to apply for more than one level simultaneously at NIELIT?

No, a candidate can only register for one level at a time. Candidates must clear their current level (O, A, B, or C) before moving to the next level.

Q:   Where can I find my assigned NIELIT examination centre?
A: 

You can find your assigned NIELIT exam centre on your NIELIT admit card. The NIELIT centre allotment is done basis the candidate's preference.

Q:   How many zones are there in the NIELIT Examination Centres?
A: 

NIELIT examination centres are classified into five zones, i.e., the North Zone, North-East Zone, East Zone, South Zone, and West Zone. NIELIT examination centres are categorised into Primary and Secondary centres. 

The exam will be organised at over 120 NIELIT centres across India. The examination will be organised at all the Primary centres. The exam centres are based on the number of candidates who are taking the exam. Also, it is to be remembered that if a candidate selects one of the secondary centres as the first choice in his/her application form, he/she will be allotted a primary centre as the second choice.

Registration for the July 2026 NIELIT exam cycle is open until March 31, 2026, for O, A, and C levels for both direct and institute candidates. For A/C level institute candidates, the deadline is extended to April 10, 2026.

  • O/A/B/C Levels: Practical examinations are scheduled to commence on February 7, 2026.
  • CHMT-O Level: Both the practical and the Employability Skills (ES) exams are expected to take place during the last week of January 2026.
