What will happen if I reach the FMGE exam centre a bit late?

Applicants are advised to reach the exam centre on time, they are also advised to check the exam centre 1 day before the exam. Candidates reporting late or after the time mentioned in the admit card shall not be allowed to appear in the exam under any circumstances.

How many questions are asked from Anatomy in FMGE exam?

Overall there will be 100 questions asked in the exam from Pre and Para Clinical Subject. Out of these 100 questions around 17 questions will be based on Anatomy section. Along with it, the same 17 questions will be asked from Physiology and Biochemistry sections as well. Students are advised to attempt all the questions which are asked in the exam as it does not have negative marking scheme.

FMGE Previous Year Papers are important source to seek firsthand information regarding the difficulty level of the exam. FMGE Previous Year Papers can be accessed from various books in which previous year questions have been collated by the authors. The FMGE Previous Year Papers are also available on several website in PDF format for the aspirants to download. The exam conducting body does not allow candidates to retrieve the question paper as the exam is conducted in online mode. Will there be any subjective type questions in FMGE ?

What is the FMGE exam?

FMGE (Foreign Medical Graduate Examination) is a licensing examination conducted by the NBE (National Board of Examinations). An Indian citizen or Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) who has completed their primary medical qualification from an institution outside India, but wishes to practice in India needs to clear this examination to register with the NMC (National Medical Commission)/SMC (State Medical Council). National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences has announced an additional FMGE 2026 exam. It will be conducted on October 31, 2026. As per the latest notice, NBEMS will conduct the FMGE three times a year instead of twice a year. FMGE October 2026 exam will be conducted in Computer Based Test mode at various exam centres in India. NBEMS will soon release the FMGE October 2026 Information Bulletin on its official website. It will contain details regarding the exam and FMGE registration process.

FMGE exam date was January 9, 2027, earlier. NBEMS has decided to reschedule January 2027 exam. It will be conducted on a later date in January or February 2027. The revised date will be announced separately.

What is FMGE Exam?

Foreign Medical Graduate Examination or FMGE, introduced through Screening Test Regulations 2002. It is a screening exam conducted by the National Board of Examinations (NBE). It is conducted to check eligibility of candidates who obtained their MBBS or equivalent degree from any foreign country.

FMGE certification is required to obtain the license to practice in India (for such candidates). Applicants must also note that FMGE is not an entrance test. It cannot be used to seek admission to any institute. It is a licensing exam for foreign medical graduates.

FMGE Question Papers

Students who want to appear in exam must note that solving a question paper helps a lot. By solving the FMGE previous year question papers, applicants will be able to understand the trends and types of questions asked in the exam.
