National Board of Examinations in Medical Sciences conducted FMGE 2026 in two shifts. NBEMS did not release the official FMGE question paper or answer key PDF in the public domain. The exam was conducted under a strict Non-Disclosure Agreement (NDA).
The FMGE was conducted for candidates who had completed their MBBS degree from a foreign medical institution and needed to qualify for a medical practitioner licence in India. The FMGE is a qualifying exam. Candidates had to score at least 50% marks to clear the exam.

FMGE 2026 Exam Analysis
The FMGE exam shift one was over at 11.30 AM. The candidates who appeared in the exam shared that the paper was difficult. The candidates who have conceptual clarity found the paper doable. The candidates who researched the topics (given in the syllabus) found the paper easy to answer. The paper demanded in-depth research of the medicine system.

There are around 35- 40 thousands student participate in the FMGE exam every year. According to the previous year FMGE result statistics, the number of candidates who qualify and secure the FMGE certificates every session is between 20 - 30 %. Though this data can be changed if the number of applicants or difficulty level of exam changes drastically.
Last year in 2023 a total of 38,355 applicants participate and the FMGE passing percentage was 23%.
No official announcement was made regarding the changes/modifications in the FMGE exam pattern for the upcoming exam cycle. In case any changes will be there, it will be updated for the aspirants. Applicants are advised to prepare for the exam as per the previous exam pattern of FMGE.
No, there will be no negative marking for the incorrect answers in the FMGE 2026 exam. The Board will ask 300 questions in the exam in English only.

As per the directive of NBE there is no sectional time limit to attempt different sections of the FMGE question paper. Candidates will get overall 5 hours to attempt 300 questions in the exam. Candidates can switch between the sections to attempt the questions.

FMGE 2026 Shift Timing
The FMGE test the candidates for Pre, Para and Clinical subjects in two shifts. The candidates need to score at least 50 % marks in both the papers separately. The candidates can see the FMGE 2026 shift timing below:
