How Many Attempts Are Allowed for the FMGE Exam?
There is no limit on the number of attempts for FMGE exam. Candidates can appear for the Foreign Medical Graduate Examination as many times as required. They must meet the eligibility criteria for exam.

Who is Eligible to Apply for the FMGE exam?

A students seeking provisional or permanent registration in India shall not have to qualify for the Screening Test if he/she holds an Under Graduate medical qualification from Australia/Canada/New Zealand/United Kingdom/United States of America and the holder thereof has also been awarded a Post Graduate medical qualification in Australia/Canada/New Zealand/ United Kingdom/United States of America and has been recognised for enrolment as a medical practitioner in that country.

FMGE October 2026 Exam Pattern
FMGE October 2026 exam will be conducted in computer based mode at designated test centres. The question paper will be in English. Candidates will not be able to choose any other language. FMGE question paper will have 300 multiple choice questions. All questions will be objective type. There will be two shifts of exam on same day. Candidates will get 2 hours and 30 minutes.
FMGE Marking Scheme
All questions in FMGE exam pattern carry equal marks. Each correct answer gives one mark. There is no negative marking in the FMGE question paper. No marks are cut for wrong answers, and the exam is conducted in two parts, called Part A and Part B. Each part has a duration of 2 hours and 30 minutes.
FMGE Passing Criteria
According to the guidelines given by NBEMS, students must score well to pass. A student needs at least 50 per cent marks to qualify for the FMGE exam. Only students who score the required marks will pass the exam. These students will receive the FMGE certificate after qualifying.
