IBPS PO Mains Exam Analysis 2019 by Students: Exam was moderate to difficult

IBPS PO mains exam 2019 has been conducted successfully on November 30, 2019. Approximately, 15,000 candidates who have aced the prelims exam appeared for IBPS PO mains exam which was conducted across 73 cities spread throughout the country. On the basis of the feedback received from the students, the overall difficulty of the exam was moderate to difficult. Some students also opined that the difficulty level of the mains exam question paper this year was a notch higher than last year.

The toughest section was Reasoning & Computer Aptitude and Quantitative Aptitude while English Language section and General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness was comparatively easier. IBPS PO question paper did not had any questions on Computer Aptitude. The descriptive section was also easy too.

IBPS PO mains result 2019 will be declared in December. Those who will qualify the exam by securing the section-wise and overall IBPS PO cut off marks will be called for the interview.

IBPS PO Mains Exam Analysis 2019 - Overall Difficulty 

IBPS PO objective section comprised four objective tests - Reasoning & Computer Aptitude, General/ Economy/ Banking Awareness, English Language and Data Analysis & Interpretation. The descriptive section carried questions from English Language (Letter Writing & Essay). Duration of the test was 3 hours 30 minutes. Total marks allotted to the mains exam are 225 (200 for objective test and 25 for descriptive test). Check the overall difficulty below:

IBPS PO 2019 Mains Exam Analysis by Students 

Shiksha visited one of the exam centres of IBPS PO in Sector 62, Noida, to gather the reactions of students regarding the difficulty level of exam. Candidates who had appeared in the exam shared their views which are as follows:

Akash Srivastava, an SSC CGL aspirant said, “Reasoning section was tough. Questions were asked from puzzles. The overall paper was difficult. English was easy but lengthy. Maths was bit calculative and Lengthy compared to last year. Question from Current Affairs were based on the events that happened in the month of October and November. Compared to last year, the paper was difficult."

Another candidate Vivek Jain said, “The exam paper was similar like previous years’. The difficulty level was moderate to difficult. There was no any technical glitches. Reasoning section was moderate and comprised of 17 to 18 questions. Quantitative section was highly difficult. This section was time consuming too. General Knowledge section was good most of the current affairs questions were from October to November events. English section was easy to moderate. Descriptive section questions were also easy if the time-management is good. There were no questions from Computer section.”

Shubham said, “The overall paper was moderate to difficult. Reasoning and Quantitative section was tough but English was easy. General Knowledge section carried questions from the events that happened in the month of September, October and November.”

Sushil Kesari said, “Reasoning section was difficult. English section was easy. General Knowledge section questions were most recent events. There were some glitches but it was resolved.”

Gaurav Anijwa who has completed M.Com and teaches students said, "The exam was good. Reasoning section was tough while Quantitative section was calculative. English and General Knowledge section was good."

Shekhar said, "The paper to similiar to last year. There were questions from passages in English. Questions in Essay was asked from Social Media."

Rohit Mishra said, "The overall difficulty was moderate to difficult. The question paper was in similar lines with SBI PO exam."

Candidates can check below the section-wise difficulty level:

IBPS PO Exam Analysis 2019 for English Language: This section carried total 35 questions. Total marks allotted for English Language section are 40. The difficulty level of this section was easy to moderate. The paper had 3 sets of reading comprehensions and their questions were trandomly arranged. The topics of the passages are: 

  • Quality of education in US
  • Economy Based RC on a comparison of GDP and Gross National Happiness in Bhutan
  • Comparison between men and women’s soccer team

There were also questions from Sentence Rearrangement, Word Rearrangement, Cloze test based in new pattern and Spotting Error. The distribution of questions are given below:

IBPS PO Exam Analysis 2019 for General Awareness

General Awareness section comprised questions from the events that took place recently. Total 40 questions were asked in this section. Total marks allotted to this section are 40. General Awareness was relatively moderate compared to Reasoning and Quantitative Aptitude. Topics from where questions were asked are:

  • Audio visual heritage 2019 theme
IBPS PO Mains Exam Analysis 2019 for Reasoning and Computer Aptitude 

Total 45 questions were asked in this section. Total marks of this section are 60. There were no questions from Computer Aptitude. The difficulty level of this section was difficult. There were around 5 questions of logical reasoning based on Statement and Inference. Questions were also asked from puzzles and seat arrangement.

 IBPS PO Mains Exam Analysis 2019 for Data Analysis and Interpretation

 The paper was bit lengthy and difficult. The Data Analysis & Interpretation carried a total of 60 marks and had 35 questions. There were 25 questions of 2 marks and 10 questions of 1 marks each. IBPS PO Mains Exam Analysis 2019 - Descriptive Test 

 The descriptive test carried 25 marks. Questions were asked from Letter and Essay.

  • Influence of Social Media 
  • Contribution of Unorganised Sector in Indian Economy
  • Pros and Cons of 4 days working in a week
  • FDI in retail sector

Letter Writing Topics (word limit 150 words)

  • Write a letter to your bank’s branch manager informing him that your EMI installment of Rs. 3000 has been deducted instead of Rs. 2000. Request him to take the necessary action to rollback the transaction or adjust the amount.
  • Write a letter to the Road Transport Authority expressing your concern over usage of high beam LED lights in bikes and cars
  • Write a letter to the editor of a newspaper expressing your concern on the state of elderly living alone by themselves. Request the government to take some initiatives to help the senior citizens living alone.

Yes, the IBPS had released the IBPS PO main admit card 2025 on October 1. The candidates can download their admit card to know their exam centre, exam date and shift timing.
