SSC Exams and the second wave of COVID-19. The SSC exams were affected by the rising cases of coronavirus infections.

COVID-19 was declared a pandemic by WHO last year. This year, the second wave of the COVID-19 infections affected all the exam processes. SSC conducts various open competitive exams and departmental exams. The SSC can be said as the second top recruiting agency for the Central Government after UPSC. The SSC recruit candidates for various class-III and associated technical jobs such as junior engineers under various projects.

The second wave of COVID-19 affected the SSC exam process severely. SSC Exams were already delayed because of the first wave of coronavirus infections, the second wave of COVID-19 has made things more difficult. SSC works with the help of the Regional offices spread across the nation. The SSC regional offices are responsible to issue the regional notices and oversee the overall conduct of the exam in their region. The regional offices release the admit cards for all the exams and also process the applications of the candidates.

SSC conducts exams to recruit the major workforce for the central government departments. Most of the candidates who passed Class Xth, Class XIIth and graduation, fill-in the SSC exam forms to become part of the central government machinery. The candidates prepared round the year for the SSC exams because the competition level is high.

SSC conducts various civil and other exams such as SSC CPO, SSC General Duty Constable Exam and the Constable for Delhi Police. Let us see the current status of the important exams conducted by SSC.

SSC Combined Graduate Level Exam

SSC CGL exam is one of the most sought exams across the nation. SSC CGL attracts the best of the talent and provides the stable central government job with good salary and perks. The SSC CGL exam is conducted every year to recruit candidates for vacant positions in the central government departments. The positions are distributed based on the ranks of the candidates. The candidates prepare for the SSC CGL exam round the year to get the higher rank.

SSC CPO Exam

SSC recruits the Sub-inspectors for the Central Police Organisations (CPO) and Delhi Police. This exam attracts the candidates who aspire for the uniform jobs. SSC JE Exam

SSC JE exam recruits candidates for the various infrastructural projects of the Central Government and the associated Public Sector Enterprises (PSEs). SSC CHSL Exam

The SSC CHSL exam is one of the biggest exams in the country. The SSC CHSL exam is one of the favourite exams of the candidates who are matric pass. Because of its eligibility, it attracts a higher number of applications. The SSC CHSL exam recruits the class-III associates for the clerical and other subordinate jobs in the Central Government offices across the nation. The SSC CHSL exam was conducted from April 20 onwards but it was later postponed because of the rising cases of COVID-19 infections. The exam dates of the remaining exams are yet to be declared.

SSC GD Constable Exam

SSC General Duty Constable Exam is conducted to recruit the candidates for the constable position in the Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF). The constabulary system forms the backbone of the CAPF. The CAPF are critical in maintaining the internal security of the nation. The SSC GD attracts the highest number of application from the rural demography. The SSC GD 2021 notification was scheduled to release in the first week of May but it was deferred because of the second wave of COVID-19 infections.

SSC MTS Exam

SSC Multi-Tasking Non-technical Staff examination is conducted to recruit the non-technical staff in the Union government departments and associated offices. The Multi-tasking staff are subordinate staff required to carry out some part of the operations. The eligibility criteria to appear in the SSC MTS exam is class Xth. Because of the eligibility criteria, it attracts a high number of applications and hence the competition is comparable. The SSC MTS exam was scheduled to be conducted from July 1, but it is expected to be postponed.

SSC JHT Exam

The SSC Junior Hindi Translator and Senior Hindi Translators depending on the number of vacancies. The SSC JHT exam recruits Hindi Translators in various Central Government offices. It is a specialised post and requires a Master’s Degree in Hindi with a diploma in translation from a recognised institute. The SSC JHT result is awaited which is delayed because of the second wave of COVID-19 infections.

SSC Stenographer exam

The SSC Stenographer exam recruits the candidates for the Stenographer Group C and D posts. The eligibility criteria for the SSC Stenographer post is class Xth and other essential skill required for the working of stenographers such as shorthand and typing. SSC MTS 2020-21 Application was closed on March 21. The SSC Stenographer exam dates are yet to be announced.

There are no sectional cut off in SSC Stenographer 2025 exam. Candidates need to secure the overall and sectional cut off marks in the exam. Candidates securing the cut off marks are selected for the next round.
