SSC GD 2026 Eligibility: Nationality/Citizenship
To fulfil the SSC GD eligibility criteria, a candidate must be a citizen of India. It may be noted here that a person of Indian origin, a subject of Nepal or Bhutan is not eligible to apply for the exam. Candidates must understand that the SSC GD vacancy is released state/UT-wise; therefore, a candidate must submit their domicile/PRC against his/her state/UT, as informed on the official website.
SSC GD Eligibility 2026: Educational Qualification (As on 01-01-2026)
Candidates who have cleared Class 10 from a recognised board/university as of the prescribed date are eligible to apply for SSC GD recruitment. It may be noted that candidates should be able to prove, by documentary evidence, that their Class 10 result was declared on or before the cutoff date prescribed by SSC.
Candidates who have passed Class 10 exam or equivalent from a recognised board can apply for the SSC GD Vacancy. Candidates should be between 18 to 23 years of age to be eligible for the SSC GD Constable exam. The Commission can cancel the candidature of the candidate at any point if he or she do not conform to any of the eligibility condition. Candidates should go through the SSC GD Constable eligibility criteria carefully before applying online for the exam.
Candidates must be Class 10 pass from a recognised Board/ University to apply for the SSC GD Constable exam. Candidates who are appearing for Class 10 exams cannot take part in the Constable GD recruitment exam.
Candidates who have not acquired the essential educational qualification as on the stipulated date will not be eligible and need not apply.
Note: All the candidates who are called for Document Verification will be required to produce the relevant Certificates, such as Mark sheets, Provisional Certificates, etc. for completion of Matriculation in original as proof of having acquired the minimum educational qualification on or before the cut-off date, failing which the candidature of such candidates will be cancelled by the Commission.

SSC GD Constable Age Limit 2026 as on January 1, 2026
Candidates should be aged between 18 and 23 years as of January 1 of the year the SSC GD notification is released. They must have born not before January 2, 2003 and not later than January 1, 2008. The commission provides relaxation in the upper age limit to reserved category candidates as mentioned below.

Candidates need to fulfill SSC GD physical eligibility in terms of height and weight to get shortlisted for appointment. The SSC GD height requirement is different for male and female candidates. The required SSC GD height for male is 170 cms. On the other hand, the SSC GD Physical height for female candidates is 157 cms. However, there is relaxation in SSC GE Height for SC/ST/others. SSC GD Weight Requirement: Candidates’ weight should be proportionate to their height and age as per the medical standards.
Ex-servicemen who have already secured employment on the civil side under the Central Government in Group-C posts regularly after availing of the reservation benefits given to them for their re-employment are not eligible for reservation benefits under the Ex-Serviceman category for the SSC GD exam. However, they are eligible for age relaxation, states the official website.
- It may be noted that SSC GD age relaxation is not valid for candidates who are sons, daughters or dependents of ex-servicemen.
- The period of "Call up Service" of an Ex-Serviceman in the Armed Forces shall also be treated as service rendered in the Armed Forces for age relaxation.

SSC GD Physical Eligibility for Males: Chest Requirement
Male candidates need to have the Chest measurement as per the following measurements:
- Minimum Un-expanded Chest - 80 cms
- Minimum expansion required - 5 cms.

SSC GD Running Time: PET/ PST
SSC GD exam recruits the candidates for the CAPFs and hence it requires the candidates to undergo the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) /Physical Standard Test(PST). Candidates need to clear the following SSC GD Physical tests, that is, race in the given time limit:

The conduct of PET/ PST and DME/ RME will be the sole responsibility of the CAPFs. The Commission will not entertain any representation/ appeal/ RTI Applications/ CPGRAMs against the decision of the PST/ PET and DME/ RME Board.
Pregnancy Guidelines in SSC GD Physical Exam
A women candidate, who as a result of tests is found to be pregnant of 12 weeks standing or over, shall be declared temporarily unfit and appointment is held in abeyance until the confinement is over. The vacancy against which a woman candidate was selected will be kept reserved for her. She will be re-examined for the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) six weeks after the date of confinement, subject to the production of a medical certificate of fitness from a registered medical practitioner. If she is found fit, she may be appointed to the post kept reserved for and allowed the benefit of seniority under the instructions of the government, as amended from time to time.

SSC GD: Minimum Qualifying Marks for CBE
The candidates need to score the minimum qualifying marks in the Computer-Based Exam (CBE) of the SSC GD Constable exam. Candidates scoring the below-mentioned marks (without adding bonus marks to NCC certificate holders) will be considered eligible for shortlisting to the next stage i.e. PET/ PST:

Candidates having a certificate in any of the branches of NCC will be incentivised as per the following scale:

The SSC GD Constable DV/ DME 2025 dates have not been announced yet. However, it is expected that the SSC GD medical exam will start in November 2025. The CRPF will soon announce the dates for the Constable DME exam after the declaration of PET/ PST result.

Candidates must be of minimum 18 years of age in order to be eligible for SSC GD exam. The upper SSC GD age limit is 23 years. However, the Commission provides a relaxation in the upper age limit for all the reserved categories such as OBC, SC, ST, ExS and others.
