SSC CGL DEST Details
The SSC will provide a master text of about 2000 characters. The candidates will be required to press 2000 keys in one minute. Candidates need to type an approximately equal number of words as given in the passage.
The combination of alphanumeric keys followed by a space will be considered as a word. After typing the same number of words (as given in the passage), the keyboard will not allow the candidate to type any word. It will automatically stop typing. For example, the candidates will be allowed to type only 500 words for the passage of 500 words after that the spacebar will not allow the candidate to type. The candidates can correct the wrongly typed words with the help of the arrow keys or backspace keys to remove the desired word.
The candidates should note that:
- No printout of the skill test will be provided.
- Candidates appearing for the English Typing Test/DEST are advised to select the default language of the document as English (United States)
- SSC has uploaded a dummy video for the candidates under the Candidate’s Corner Tab. The candidates must see it before appearing in the skill test
