SSC CGL Salary 2026: The SSC CGL posts are the Central Government posts whose service conditions are prescribed by the Union Ministry of Personnel. The SSC CGL Salary is also one of the most important component of the service conditions. The pay scale is decided based on the different pay grades notified in the 7th Pay Commission's recommendations. The Staff Selection Commission mentions the basic salary and the increment component in the SSC CGL notification. The salary is the monthly earnings that candidates get after clearing the SSC CGL exam and join Group B and C posts in the central government ministries and departments. Apart from the basic pay, SSC CGL salary also include other components such as House Rent Allowance (HRA), Travel Allowance (TA), Dearness Allowance (DA) etc.

House Rent Allowance

SSC CGL In Hand Salary - How to Calculate?

The salary of the SSC CGL posts is the same because the pay levels will be revised only after the recommendations of the Pay Commission. The Pay Commission is constituted by the Union Government of India at intervals of 10 or more years. The associated allowances with the post change over time which changes the salary-in-hand of the employee. SSC CGL officer's salary differs from post to post. The percentage of allowances provided to the employees remains the same but the basic salary is different from post to post.

Yes, the candidates should note that the salary to all the employees serving in the SSC CGL posts/services is provided by the Government of India. On March 7, 2024, the Government of Indian increased the DA of the central government employees. As per the Government order, the DA in now increased to 50 % of the basic pay.

This hike in DA will be applicable to the TA component of the salary too. This hike in DA component will be applicable from January 1, 2024.

The last date to submit the SSC CGL application fee offline is always one day after the fee submission date online. The Commission provides the opportunity to submit the application fee online also. The candidates should note that they are required to generate an offline fee payment challan from the official website of the SSC. The fee can be paid through this challan only.
Q:   What is the minimum educational qualification required to apply for the SSC CGL exam?
A: 
Candidates who possess a Bachelor's degree can apply for the SSC CGL exam. The Diploma holders are not eligible to apply for the exam. The candidates who are in the last year of their graduation can apply for the exam under the 'result awaited category' but they need to acquire their graduation degree before the last date of application which is considered as the cutoff date. There is no bar of minimum percentage in the Graduation exam. Candidates with any percentage can apply for the SSC CGL exam. The Commission provides a level playing field to all the candidates.
Q:   Is the SSC CGL application fee refundable?
A: 
No, the SSC CGL application fee, once paid is non-refundable. The fee once paid cannot be refunded at any point in time. The Commission mentioned that the application fee will not be refunded even when the candidates withdraw their applications. The Commission does not refund the application fee under any condition. There is no provision provided for the refund of application fee. Such facility was provided by UPSC earlier under the application withdrawal scheme.
Q:   I am already registered on the official website of SSC. Do I need to register again to apply for the SSC CGL exam?

No, if already registered, the candidates can skip the registration and apply directly for the SSC CGL exam by logging into their accounts. The SSC OTR is required to log in at ssc.gov.in. Candidates can apply online for various SSC exams with one registration number. 

Q:   Is SSC CGL syllabus released every year?
A: 

The Commission release the SSC CGL syllabus every year with the notification that governs the exam of that year. The Commission can change the syllabus anytime even after the release of notification through an addendum. The syllabus mentioned in the syllabus form the basis of the paper for that year. The SSC CGL 2025 syllabus was mentioned in the official SSC CGL notification.

Q:   How many questions will be asked in the SSC CGL Tier 1 exam 2026?

No. The Tier 1 marks for the SSC CGL are not used in the preparation of the final merit list. The SSC CGL Tier 1 exam is qualifying in nature. Candidates are shortlisted for Tier 2 exam. However, the final selection and ranking is based on the marks obtained in the SSC CGL Tier 2 exam.
