UGC NET Phase 2 Exam Analysis

The UGC NET Phase 2 exam for History got over for Shift 1 at 12:00 pm on February 28, 2023. The level of the exam was easy to moderate in nature. The ancient, modern, and medieval history has equivalent weightage in the UGC NET Paper 2. 4 to 5 questions were from books and authors, and the chronological questions were also present in the form of match the following.

Details of the UGC NET History Question in Shift 1 on Feb 28 

The details of the type of question have been given below for the candidates for the UGC NET History Phase 2 exam: 

  • In the Ancient History section, the Questions were asked about Gupta Coins, Buddhism, Bimbsara, Sites, Satwanas, Ashokan Pillar Inscription, and Edicts. The chronology-based questions were dominating in the question papers.  
  • In Early Medieval History, the questions were asked from Chandella’s, Shankaracharya, Chalukya’s and Firoz Shah Tughlaq Statement based questions was present in the question paper.  
  • In the Modern section, the questions were present from Jama and Hasil, Battle of  Surajgarh, Battle of Dorah, Noorjahan and Dara Sikho, Raiyyat Wadi (Chronology based), Act Based question, RC Dutta, Assertion and Reason.

Student Reactions for UGC NET History Sections 

  • Prateek Said, “The Modern India questions were dominating in nature. The assertion and the reasoning questions were easy to moderate in nature. Based on the difficulty level of the question the Cut off for the December Cycle will be higher than last year”. 
  • Ankita Said,” there were no questions from the Post Independence section. The books and authors sections were present in the paper. The paper was also easy to moderate and doable in nature”. 
  • Rahul Roy Said, “5 questions were asked from the passage. Other than these questions were asked from Karanatic wars.”

The NTA is expected to release the UGC NET notification in April 2026. It will be announced in the form of PDF at ugcnet.nta.nic.in. The notification or information brochure consists the details about the exam including the registration form, exam duration, pattern, etc.

The NTA released the UGC NETadmit card 2025 for the December session exam. It was released on the official portal at ugcnet.nta.nic.in. The admit card is a mandatory document thata needs to be carried at the examination centre by the candidate.

The UGC NET December session exam was over on January 7. As per the students' feedback UGC NET January 2 Paper 1 was Moderate some felt that Assertion & Reasoning part was a bit difficult. Paper 1 was lengthy.
