In the field of Education, IGNOU offers a B.Ed program to students who have completed their bachelor's degree in any field. While the minimum duration to pursue B.Ed is two years, the maximum period allowed for completion is five years. IGNOU B.Ed admission is based on the IGNOU B.Ed Entrance Test conducted by the University.

The eligibility criteria for B.Ed is as follows:

• Candidates with at least 50 percent aggregate either in the bachelor’s degree and/or in the master’s degree in Sciences/ Social Sciences/Commerce/Humanity are eligible to apply
• Graduates in Engineering or Technology with a specialization in Science and Mathematics with a minimum 55 percent aggregate or equivalent qualification are also eligible to apply

Eligible Categories

• Trained in-service teachers in elementary education
• Qualified candidates with NCTE-recognised teacher education program through face-to-face mode.

The reservation and relaxation of 5% aggregate is provided to SC/ST/OBC (non-creamy layer)/PWD candidates as per the rules of the Central Government. Reservation to war widow candidates and Kashmiri migrants will be provided as per the University rules.

IGNOU B.Ed Admission Process 2025

Admissions to the B.Ed program are conducted based on the candidate’s score in the IGNOU BEd Entrance Test.

Note: Mere allowing candidates to take the entrance exam will not amount to acceptance of their eligibility for admission to B.Ed. The final admission shall be subject to their rank in the merit list in the entrance exam and production of proof of their eligibility at the time of the last date of application submission along with original certificates and program fee. The number of seats of each PSC is limited to 50 only.

Note: Candidates must check the latest notification as the course fee might change.

Fee once paid will not be refunded under any circumstances except the provision of refund of admission fee, as notified by the University vide notification. However, in cases where the university denies admission, the program fee will be refunded after the deduction of the processing fee, if any, through A/c Payee Cheque only.

IGNOU B.Ed & M.Ed Application Process 2025

Candidates are required to go through the following steps to apply to IGNOU. Mentioned below is a step-by-step IGNOU application process 2025:

Step 1: Visit the official website of IGNOU and click on the 'Menu' tab. 

Step 2: Click on 'Register Online' and then on 'Fresh Admission'.

Step 3: In the admission portal that opens up, click on ' Click here for new registration' to reach the registration tab. 

Step 4: In this registration window, scroll towards the end of the page and start filling the registration form. After filling in all the required details, click on 'Register'.

Step 5: Go back to the admission portal of IGNOU and login as a registered user with the credentials created in the last step.

Step 6: In this window, click on 'I've read the important information' and then on ' Submit'. 

Step 7: IGNOU application form 2025 will appear on the screen. Fill in the complete application form and pay the application fee for the desired course and click on 'Submit'. 

Step 8: Candidates can save a copy of the application form for future reference.
