AKTU Course Admissions 2025: Cutoff, Application, Fees, Eligibility

Yes, candidates seeking admission to DR. A.P.J Abdul Kalam Technical University undergraduate and postgraduate courses must have appeared for the CUET-UG and CUET-PG entrance exams, respectively. AKTU will not admit students who do not a valid CUET score. NTA usually releases CUET result in July. CUET UG Counselling is held and conducted separately by the participating institutes. CUET UG Counselling is usually held between Jul and Aug.

DR. A.P.J Abdul Kalam Technical University is expected to conduct a total of six rounds for CUET-UG-qualified candidates. However, the cutoff rounds are conducted as per seat availability. If seats are available after AKTU round six of the counselling process, the University will release the special round to fulfil their vacant seats. 

AKTU provides the B.Tech degree with 41 different specializations

Duration - four years.

• AKTU takes an entrance exam viz. UPSEE for entry in the B.Tech courses.
• AKTU also approves 20% of aspirants based on JEE Main score as per the State Government criteria.

Eligibility norm -

 Candidates should have finished their 12th standard exam with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics with 45% marks or more ( 40% score or more SC/ST) from an identified board.

Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Technical University (AKTU), formerly known as Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU), has 49 affiliated colleges and 785 institutes under its name that offer a total of 25 UG, PG and PhD programmes across numerous specialisations and streams. Some of the most popular streams are Engineering, Business & Management Studies, IT Software, Medicine & Health Sciences, Design and Science. The University facilitates quality technical education and research in its own premises as well as all affiliated institutions.

For seeking admission to the programme, candidates should possess a BE/ BTech or equivalent degree in relevant stream with a minimum of 60% aggregate (54% for SC/ ST candidates) along with a valid UPTAC rank. GATE-qualified candidates are also considered for AKTU MTech admission. However, such candidates first need to undergo a counselling process along with UPTAC-qualified candidates for seat allotment.

AKTU accepts CUET PG scores for admission to postgraduate courses including MCA . According to AKTU cutoff 2023, the closing ranks for MCA is 25095 for Maharana Pratap Engineering College, 25076 for Fort Institute of Technology, 25071 for Technical Education and Research Institute (TERI, Ghazipur), 22963 for Jagran Institute of Management and 24453 for Shri Ram College, Muzaffarnagar for the General category All India candidates. Candidates seeking admission must have a vaid score in CUET PG in order to be eligible for the course. 

Candiates seeking admission to AKTU and have appeared for the CUET-UG entrance test are eligible to register themselves for the Uttar Pradesh Technical Admission Counselling (UPTAC) counselling process conducted by AKTU. Also, candidates who have passed the qualifying examination from any institution located in UP or whose parents are domicile of UP subject to the eligibility conditions given in the AKTU brochure are eligible for the counselling round.

Thus, the competition to gain admission for the Institute of Engineering and Technology (IET), AKTU is average. As per the requirement of the institute the students should have passed 10+2 examination and must have scored 50% marks in physics chemistry and mathematics. Counselling and qualification examination score are the two major factors behind the admission with Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Examination (U. P. S. E. ) Rank being given priority importance. For some of the programs, it is also possible to apply for direct admission and this is on merit. The institute receives a lot of applications, thus, mere meeting of the eligibility criteria does not mean that one will be admitted. But, a good rank in UPSEE or a brilliant academic performance can make a candidate secure an admission to the programme of his or her choice easily.

AKTU offers scholarship assistance to students belonging to the SC/ ST/ OBC category under the regulations of the UP State Scholarship scheme. Every year, UP State releases a notification for fee reimbursement for the students of AKTU and its affiliated colleges. Students studying in AKTU can register themselves for fee-waiver scholarship schemes through the Scholarship & Fee Reimbursement Online System of UP State. New students can register online for UPTU Scholarship by visiting the official portal designed for fee reimbursement procedures. It is recommended that candidates must apply for the scholarships at the earliest.

As per an unofficial source, the income limit should not exceed INR 2 lakh. AKTU provides financial assistance to meritorious students belonging to SC/ ST/ OBC category as per the regulations of the UP State Scholarship scheme. Every year, UP state releases the notification for fee reimbursement for the students of AKTU and its affiliated colleges. The candidate should score at least 50% in the qualifying examination. 5% relaxation is awarded to candidates belonging to reserved categories. Candidates need to have a valid CUET PG score. In special conditions, CMAT or CAT scores may be considered by the authorities.
