Good college with a historically rich background but average placement.

Placements: 60% to 70% of students get placed in my civil branch. Other students prepare for the government exam package that was offered, which was 17 LPA. Almost everyone should get an internship from my class. Usually, the top roles that are offered are those of assistant engineers or in some graduate trainee programs.

Infrastructure: College has Wi-Fi enabled; every hostel room has Wi-Fi and LAN-able connection; classrooms have AC; and all other facilities at Coastal are good. Mess offers two non-veg days and four vegetarian days. The campus hospital is good. The sports complex has a football court, a basketball court, a badminton court and every other major sports facility. Gym is also available.

Faculty: Professors are highly trained. Good at their teaching but some professors from other branches are biased toward first-year students. The semester exams are average. If you study, you will pass; if you do not, you will not, but if you caught cheating, they will give harsh punishment, like short semester of attendance.

Other: Campus life is good. The friends that you make are very good. Everything is good. Clubs are very good. They teach you very basic things that you will use in your professional life. The alumni network is very good; fest and events are very great; you can feel it.

Decent placements in 2023-24 with really great infrastructure and facilities.

Placements: This college has very good placements recorded in this year as well, despite having recession, the placements were really very good. The highest package offered is somewhere around 16 lacs in civil and the average package is 9.3 lacs which is pretty decent for this branch. There are lots of companies recruiting in which L&T is the top recruiter. Except the core companies lots of Consultancies and product based companies also allow the students of Civil to sit in the placements drive. Almost 60% students were provided internships in which NHAI provided the top internship. Students are selected for different roles like structural designer, executive engineer and many more.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the college is really very good including the classrooms, departments, and laboratories. The classes at BIT Mesra are really high class and beautiful being fully air conditioned and having good facilities with a huge students’ seating capacity. The Library is also very good with lots of new edition books having a very wide collection which is updated regularly. There is no human effort for issuing any book as there is a fully automated machine through which you can do it on your own. The main campus has complete Wi-Fi coverage so there is no issue of connectivity. The hostels are not very good but they're definitely better than the other colleges. The mess food is really very good. You won't be facing any issue regarding the mess food. Sometimes you may feel like it’s not good, but most of the times it’s really good. Medical facilities are provided 24*7. If you have any kind of issue you can just call the ambulance which will come to receive you at your hostel and take you to the dispensary where you will get the assistance and medicines as well. Sports and games facilities are good having well-equipped badminton court, basketball court, gyms and all the things that you need. They are very well maintained.

Faculty: Our professors are really very qualified with a very good experience. They are really helpful, you can go and ask whatever doubts you have, and they are always ready to help no matter what, even if they are running out of time. If it’s not possible for them to clear the doubts, they will ask you to come some other time, but they will surely consider your doubt. The course materials for teaching are very good covering all the topics nicely. The course curriculum is relevant and makes the students industry ready. We know that the Indian Education System doesn't have the curriculum which makes the students completely ready, but whatever it is, it withstands with the IIT curriculum. The semester exams are good. They’re neither very hard nor too easy, it’s just your preparation. The passing percentage is decent enough.

Other: I want to join the government sector which is why I took admission in civil, as this branch provides the best exposure for government exams. The faculty is really very good and supportive, they provide you with all the relevant information for your career’s growth. I think the professors need to convey the scope of civil engineering to the students so that they try to get placed in the core area. Bitotsav is the biggest cultural fest which is most awaited, and is of course worth the wait. Scholarship is provided on the basis of merit and there are lots of events going on round the year covering different areas.

The college is costly but there are no facilities.

Placements: Nearly 60% of students get placement every year. The highest package is 50 LPA. The lowest package is around 4-5 LPA. For internships, many companies come and give an expected stipend of around Rs. 20,000-30,000 for 6 months. For branches like mechanical or chemical, there is an 80% placement guarantee but for the civil department, very few companies come. Good companies like L&T didn't come this year.

Infrastructure: All departments have their classrooms and laboratories. Nearly everywhere there is a Wi-Fi connection which students can get by their roll numbers. All classrooms have smart boards. Libraries have good seating areas. The food provided by the mess is not so good but hostels are cleaned properly.

Faculty: Some of the teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable while few are not so good. The course curriculum is very relevant and helps students to get internships and good placements. Semester examinations are divided into 4 parts. First, we have 2 quizzes of 10 marks each. There is one mid-semester examination of 25 marks and one end-semester examination of 50 Marks.

Fees is high, but productive.

Placements: The placement opportunities in the circuital branches are exceptional and can be compared to those in new IITs and some established ones. Even during a recession, the placements remain decent, if not better than before. However, in core branches, the placements are average and not entirely satisfactory. Nevertheless, the academic environment is highly enriching. The introduction of relative grading has made the study schedule rigorous, but there are various clubs and societies available for students to engage in.

Infrastructure: The civil branch, being the second oldest, has the largest department, although the machines and tools are outdated. The library is spacious but houses outdated materials. The hostels provide adequate facilities, but the water supply is slightly problematic, and the food is average compared to other hostels, lacking elegance.

Faculty: The faculty members are highly supportive and helpful, although there may be a few exceptions. The curriculum is demanding, with classes scheduled from 8 to 5:30 on weekdays, including a break. The Physics lab, specifically for 1st semester students, is not well maintained, while the other labs are in good condition. Regular quizzes and challenging exams are part of the academic routine.

It is a good college with good placements.

Placements: Our college provides good placements with an average salary package of 11 LPA - 12 LPA. The highest salary package offered is 18 LPA. All branches provide good placements. It is difficult to good placements in core companies. Students from core branches such as civil, mechanical, biotech, and chemical have not received satisfactory placements. They got placed in the IT sector.

Infrastructure: Our college provides good facilities. Hostels are not good. Our college provides good infrastructure. The main buildings and other course buildings are great. We have well-maintained classrooms and labs. Some hostels are old. They have shared rooms. Our labs are fully equipped with the latest equipment, allowing for hands-on practical learning experiences.

Faculty: All courses are the best and updated regularly to current standards. Exams are conducted well. They test students' knowledge.

Other: Fests are very good in our college compared to IITs and NITs.

Candidates who are appearing in the Class 12th / equivalent examination in 2025 irrespective of their age, are also eligible. Note: List of qualifying examination(QE): i). The final examination of the 10+2 system, conducted by any recognized Central/ State Board, such as the Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi; Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi; etc. ii). Intermediate or two-year Pre-University examination conducted by a recognized Board/ University. iii). Final examination of the two-year course of the Joint Services Wing of the National Defence Academy iv). Senior Secondary School Examination conducted by the National Institute of Open Schooling with a minimum of five subjects. v). Can I get admission in Mesra with 48 marks in Mains?

Admission to B.Tech in BIT Mesra is done on the basis of AIR in JEE Mains through CSAB (Central Seat Allocation Board) / JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority). Candidates must meet eligibility criteria and apply for the programme.
