BTech in Chemical Engineering - Batch of 2025
4.6
Overall, it is a good college with enough exposure and good placement opportunities.
Placements: On average, 2 or 3 students in chemical engineering get placed every year, while the others opt for higher studies. Technip, Wood PLC, and L&T are some of the major recruiters. The average salary package offered by these companies is about 10 LPA.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is exceptionally good when compared to many other private engineering colleges. The carefully engineered structures that add soul to campus are maintained and taken care of with utmost care. Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified and well-trained. Students get the opportunity to explore their interest in research while pursuing their undergraduate degree by involving themselves in internally funded research proposals, in which they are funded up to Rs. 30,000. The end-semester exams are easy to moderate.

Our college has a good infrastructure that is well maintained. It provided good placements in 2021.
Placements: Placements are very good. All students got placed. The placement training can be better. They charged fees for placement training, but the training provided was not good. We will be ready for placements if we are academically good. You need to be good at academics to get a job.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is good. There is a clock tower and fountain. The campus is clean. It is a good place to hang out. Wi-Fi is available throughout the campus. It is restricted only to certain things. The hostel is well organised and clean. Mess food is not good.
Faculty: Teachers are well qualified. All of them have doctorates. The course curriculum is good, and it will help us in the future while working in the industry. Semester exams are not easy, and they test our knowledge. The teaching method is not quite good.

SSN and its amazing Campus Life.
Placements: The students opting for placements are made sure they get into a good company be it core/non-core. The top recruiting companies are Amazon, Infosys, PayPal, Citibank, Dow Chemicals, Saint Gobain and so on. The highest package is offered in 20 LPA and the lowest is around 6 LPA. SSN makes sure all the students opting for placements are placed via an internship or direct Job Offers. The roles offered are Software Developer, Data Analyst, Data Scientist, Design Engineer and so on.
Infrastructure: SSN is got an amazing infrastructure and a campus surrounded by trees which is very eco-friendly. The classrooms are well maintained and cleaned regularly. Every classroom is provided with a projector and a green board. The library is huge and contains all most all the books every student would want to take reference. The hostel rooms are pretty spacious but the mess food is not very pleasing instead the main canteen food is pretty good and at affordable prices. There is a huge Sports Complex with an indoor Badminton Court and separate Stadium for Cricket, Basketball and Football.
Faculty: All the faculty members in SSN own a Ph.D. They are always willing to help and very friendly. The course is relevant as it introduces us to a basic strong knowledge of what chemical engineering is all about. It gives a strong foundation and relevant to what a chemical industry expects. The semester exams contain not only direct questions but concept based questions and ones which need practical application.

SSN has a very beautiful campus and amazing faculty. It also gives freedom to pursue your passion.
Placements: Almost 95% of people registered for placements got placed from our batch. The highest salary package offered was 10.6 LPA. The lowest salary package offered was 2.18 LPA. The average salary package offered was 4.15 LPA. Saint Gobain, Dow Chemicals, Technip FMC, McKinsey, and Goldman Sachs are the top recruiters. The top roles offered are management trainee, GET, business analyst and KAM. The highest salary package offered in our course was 13 LPA. The lowest salary package offered in our course was 3.8 LPA. The average salary package offered in our course was 4.8 LPA. Almost 10% of the students got internships in 3rd year. Almost 5% of the students got internships in Saint-Gobain and Dow through campus, and another 15% of the students got internships through off-campus.
Infrastructure: Our department had a central library with a wide variety of books. There is a Wi-Fi connection throughout the department. There are 2 dedicated research labs, a process control and instrumentation lab, a computer lab, and 5-course labs. It had 4 classrooms and 2 drawing halls. It has an air-conditioned seminar hall. Hostels are very well maintained and hygienic. Each year has a separate hostel building and dedicated security personnel. Every hostel is equipped with a library and TV rooms. The quality of the food served in the mess is good, and the menu is changed every 6 months. But the food may seem very recitative. The sports complex can be accessed until 10 pm. A dedicated ambulance is available 24x7 in the hostel, and also a doctor is available on the campus.
Faculty: Teachers in our college were well-qualified; most of them were PhD holders. They were highly knowledgeable but fell short in delivering. They are very much interested in research compared to teaching. One has to go and ask them doubts to know the subject in detail. The course needs some modification in terms of including current industrial processes instead of still teaching processes which are outdated and must include design software.
Other: I have chosen chemical engineering because I liked the course better than other engineering courses, and it sparked the inquisition in me. I would like the course to include more design programming and current technology.

It is one of the best engineering institutions in Tamilnadu.
Placements: Around 70% of the students who opted for placements got placed during the final year itself. The remaining 30% got placed after completion in the same year. Apart from placements, about 20% of the students have got MS admits in abroad universities. The major recruiters are Dow Chemicals, Saint Gobain, Technip, Sanmar, Wood Process, etc. The highest salary package offered is in the range of 6.5-7.5 LPA, and the average salary package offered is around 2.5-3.5 LPA.
Infrastructure: The campus is Wi-Fi enabled. Apart from the central library, each department has department libraries which contain department related books. Computer labs in the department are equipped with software like Aspen Plus, Package and other technical software. The hostel students use the mess. Apart from the main canteen, there are 4 other shops and an ice cream parlour within the campus. The college has proper medical facilities with a doctor on duty available on the campus. Sports block has a separate building with the various sports equipment with facilities include a badminton court, gym, table tennis and squash courts. The tennis court, football ground and cricket ground are nearby the sports block.
Faculty: Staffs are well-knowledgeable, and students can easily approach them for help. Apart from academics, they help the students in their career-building process. For our batch 2015-2019, the course curriculum is set by Anna University as SSN is affiliated to Anna University.
Other: The college organises annual college technical fest named Invente, and the annual college cultural named Instincts. Apart from them, departments also organise various conferences and workshops, including an international conference named Raceee and national conference named Steer. The college has student chapters of various prestigious bodies. The college has an English (ELC) club, a quiz club, YRC, NSS, Saaral (Tamil literature) club, a music club, a dance club, etc. The department toppers are provided with scholarships annually based on their CGPA, and also various other scholarships are also available.

Top companies like Amazon, Citibank, Caterpillar, Zoho, Dell, Saint Gobain, Wood, Technip FMC offered roles.
Infrastructure: SSN has a beautiful campus with lush green lawns and fountain. SSN central library is fully air-conditioned and has a quite good atmosphere. Our campus is Wi-Fi enabled. Excellent placements and infrastructure, dissatisfied with faculty members.
Placements: About 90 percent of students are placed in core and IT companies. The highest package in my department was 7.3 L/annum this year and the lowest was 2.4L/annum. The average salary package would be approximately 4.5L/annum. Top recruiting companies pertaining to chemical department include Saint Gobain, Dow Chemical, Technip, LnT etc. Companies like Saint Gobain, Dow also provide internships to third year students and recruit them through preplacement offers. This year, many chemical companies visited college and placement was really great than expected. When considering overall college placements, there were about 1072 offers received and the highest package was 40L/annum.
Infrastructure: My department is Wi-Fi enabled and also well- constructed. The labs required for chemical engineering include HT, MT, FM, CRE labs which are all well-equipped and can accommodate 30 students at a time. The classrooms are also spacious and properly ventilated. There is a central library in our college which lends subject books to students of all departments. There is also a reference library in my department. With respect to food, it was manageable but not too good. I were a day-scholar so I didn't know much about hostel and mess food. Canteen food was good but when compared with other colleges like At Joseph, Sairam, quality of food is not upto the mark. SSN gives lot of importance to sport. Many would be aware of our Cricket stadium where international matches were also hosted. Games are not made compulsory but we have enough facilities which can be utilised by all students without any restrictions.
Faculty: During my days, course curriculum wasn't updated as my college was affiliated to Anna University. But now my college has become autonomous and we have an updated and well structured curriculum. My college encourages students to take summer and winter internships. Almost 95 percent of students pursue internships at various industries and research institutes. Course curriculum and internships together can make students industry ready in my opinion. The professors in my department are very friendly and helpful. Almost 90 percent of them are Ph.D. holders and knowledgeable. But the teaching quality during my time was not upto the level may be because of management conflicts and inability to convey things clearly. In short, professors are knowledgeable but lack teaching skills.
Other: Chemical engineering though it aligns with the name 'chemistry', it is way different from chemistry. Chemical engineering can be closely related to day-day activities especially cooking and can be easily understandable. It is more of physical concepts and mathematics oriented course. As it is very relatable and I love cooking, hence took Chemical engineering. Quality of teaching can be greatly improved. Other than that, my department is capable enough to be the top department of college. We organise 'Invente' - technical fest and 'Instincts'- cultural fest. Both are very famous in the city colleges. Speaking about Scholarships, my college spends lacs of amount for meritorious (top three of each department) students and also scholarships for students with lower economical backgrounds. Also, every year two to three meritorious students (for each department)are selected from rural areas for 100 percent scholarship throughout four years.
