Q:   Do I need to give an entrance exam for admission to MA at Mumbai University?
A: 

University of Mumbai does not conduct or accept any entrance exam for MA admission. Candidates only need to submit the pre-enrollment form along with the application form to get admission. However, for a few MA courses, the University/ MU-affiliated college conducts a Group Discussion (GD) and Personal Interview (PI) after the written test. Selected candidates need to come for document verification process to confirm their seat.

The University of Mumbai offers two-year MA and MA (Hons) programmes in multiple specialisations to students at the postgraduate level. Admission to a majority of MA specialisations is based on university-conducted/ college-specific entrance exams. Minimum placements in 2025.
Placements: There are few or no placements at this college. Most of the non-IT companies hire freshers from this college. The average package is 2.4 LPA. Companies like Rubber and Tyres come for hiring. The college also now focuses on placement sessions.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is not that good. It is below average. But the college tries to improve it every year. There is no hostel for the college. Students get flats on rent near the college. The college has 3 buildings. Each building is only 2–3 floors high.
Faculty: Faculty members are very helpful. Sometimes they teach a topic 3–4 times when you do not understand. Exams are taken strictly. No cheating is allowed. Faculty members also provide question banks during the exam period. Teachers and the principal are highly educated.
Other: I get around 70 percentile in CET. I cannot get into any other colleges in Mumbai, so I chose this college. The course is very good and has scope. There are 2–3 events held over the year in this college. The college is far from the railway station. But there are 3–4 college buses for pick-up and drop-off.

Decent infrastructure, canteen, and campus. It has good teachers.
Placements: Sales and insurance, banking, HR, marketing, call center, etc. Companies like HDFC, TVC, TCS, and others are there for placements. The interview round is moderate in college placements. If you are selected, you have one more final interview after college.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure and canteen food are average. Facilities for the students are average. There are fans, not AC. Wi-Fi and labs are good. The library is big and peaceful for students to study. They are now strict about attendance.
Faculty: Teachers are great because of the autonomous college. The passing marks are lower. There are internal and external exams and assignments, so passing the exam is easy. The curriculum is decent. They are not job-ready, but there are industry visits for students. Teachers are good and supportive.
Other: Many events, fests, and competitions are conducted for students. Events are good.

A great course with good opportunities and good learning, campus life, and overall exposure.
Placements: 92 percent of students got placed. The highest package is 79 LPA. The average package is 20 LPA. The lowest is 6 LPA-10 LPA. Recruiting companies include Google, Reliance, Jio, government jobs, etc. 10 percent of students got placed in Google. 50-60 percent got placed in companies with higher market value and names, rest got government jobs. The top roles offered in the course are manager, ceo, hr, etc.
Infrastructure: Wi-Fi, library, classroom, labs, and practical facilities are available. Taste and quality of the food are decent. The hygiene is good. Sports, games are not well managed, but there is scope. Hostel, medical facilities, and emergency kit are well managed.
Faculty: The teaching quality is well-defined and easy to understand for all students. The course makes students ready for the various industries. If students attend every lecture and study, the exams are not too difficult. The passing percentage is 42 percent.
Other: I feel it is a good fit for my interests and career goals. I wish there were more practical sessions, better faculty members, etc. The campus environment, events, extracurricular activities, and overall connectivity are also good.

SIES College is the best college.
Placements: A minimum 3 LPA- 6 LPA package is offered in placements to students.
Infrastructure: Everything is good because library books and computers are there to gain proper knowledge. Canteen meals are best. The sports faculty is the best. The gym is available. The games are table tennis, carrom, football on the campus, and box cricket. The sports faculty is also the best.
Faculty: The best system they have to manage college exams and all. 35 percent is the passing percentage for students. We think the hard work pays off. The college is good or not. My overview of the college is that it is best to communicate with people and enjoy every event as well. Teachers are very good and provide support in practical sessions and projects. The teachers support students to gain knowledge in everything. For projects and assignments, the teacher is there every time to encourage you.
Other: For the best studies, do certifications. Events are best for communication skills, knowledge, and experience all things.

The college has good faculty, and average placements, so I am neutral.
Placements: More than 50% of students are placed in this course. The packages depend on the companies, such as TCS (Tata Consultancy Services), Wipro, Tech Mahindra, Infosys, Capgemini, and Tata. 10-15% of students get internships in my course. Top roles offered in my course are accountant and others.
Infrastructure: The college provides facilities like classrooms, a library, labs, and a canteen. I am not a hostel student. I do not know much about hostels, but the college also has hostels for students. Sports and games are also held in my college.
Faculty: Teachers are qualified with degrees like CA, CMA, and others. The curriculum is average. The semester exams of the college are not hard. They are easy to crack, in my opinion. The passing percentage is 35-40%. Teachers are also knowledgeable in their fields.
Other: I chose this course because it has a mixture of a B.Com degree with the US CMA course. As the college is autonomous, they offer a mixture of courses where a student can complete their B.Com degree with the US CMA. If the student is serious, it depends on the student whether they complete the US CMA exam. But the college completes the US CMA portion within the 1st and 2nd year. Events and fests also happen widely in my college.

I'm not suggesting this college for IT students but for finance or BMS students it's great
Placements: Here, if IT does not have any placements. They will provide placements for other roles like sales and marketing, so you have to prepare by yourself and try by yourself for placement.
Infrastructure: College infrastructure is good. In the college, a canteen is also available you can use that. Also in the computer labs PCs are very good. They provide Ethernet facilities which are very useful for coding and other things. Also, they arrange events for sports and games twice a year
Faculty: The course curriculum is not as needed. Need something new in the course the old curriculum will not help you get that skilled. Teachers are very helpful if you ask them any doubt, they will help you understand it and teach that thing.
Other: I chose B.Sc.IT because I'm a commerce student in 12th and I have 2 options one is BCA and the other is B.Sc.IT, so I chose B.Sc. IT. In this college, many events and activities are held. They arrange some events like Vigyan Mela that are helpful for understanding how things are built.
