 VIT Business School offers an internal full-time Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Management course. The minimum period of study and research from the date of registration is 30 months for full-time research scholars. The selection of candidates for the PhD programme at VIT Business School is based on their scores in VITREE/ CSIR NET/ UGC NET/ GRE/ TOEFL along with the Research Proposal and Personal Interview.

Candidates seeking admission to the VIT Business School PhD programme can apply for the VITREE exam. It is conducted by VIT Vellore. Master in Business Administration (MBA) with a minimum of 60% aggregate or 6.5 CGPA on a 10-point scale from a recognised university is the basic eligibility for PhD in Management offered at VIT Business School. Candidates with CA/ ICWA or equivalent qualification can also apply.

The institute accepts national-level entrance exams like CAT, XAT, MAT, GMAT, CMAT, ATMA, etc., for MBA course. However, admission to a few other courses, including BSc, BSc (Hons), BCA, BCom, MSc, MCA, among others, is based on the aggregate obtained by the candidates in previous qualifying degree/ exam (merit-based).
