VIT Vellore BDes Eligibility & Highlights 2026
BDes in Industrial Design is a four-year programme spread across eight semesters. VIT Vellore offers BDes through VIT School of Design. The programme includes training, model-making, prototyping, and experimenting. PROTICS Studio (PROduct aestheTICS), 3D-iD Studio with 30 iMacs, Smart PD Lab, Ergonomics Lab, and Painting Booth. Interested candidates must check the below eligibility to appy for VIT Vellore BDes:
- Indian nationals/ Non-resident Indian National can apply for BDes course.
- Candidates should have passed Class 12 or Intermediate or two-year Pre-University Examination conducted by a recognised board/ university or its equivalent examination with at least 60% aggregate with Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics as subjects to apply for BDes.
- Students who have appeared for Class 12 finals and awaiting results can also apply, subject to submission of passing certificate by the notified date.
Note: In case, applicants belong to SC/ST community or hail from Jammu and Kashmir/ Ladakh and the North Eastern States of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and Tripura, 10% relaxation is provided.

Selection Rounds
VIT Vellore shortlists candidates for BDes programme based on UCEED score. VIT conducts VIT DAT for students who have not attended UCEED exams. VIT-DAT is a written exam of two hours duration consisting of objective-type questions. Candidates shortlisted based on entrance exam are further called for a personal interview round. Merit List
VIT Vellore will prepare a merit list based on Class 12 marks and a valid UCEED score.
Counselling
The shortlisted studentwill be called for counselling (virtual or physical). Candidates who has qualified and has been called for counselling does not guarantee admission to him/ her. This depends upon the performance in the interview/ skill test and the availability of seats. The final list will be prepared based on the performance in the interview/ skill test at the time of counselling.

VIT Vellore BDes 2026 FAQs
VIT Vellore BDes eligibility criteria is to qualify Class 12 from the recognised board with 50% marks for general category. Students visit the official website.
IIT Bombay declared the results of UCEED 2025 on March 7, 2025. The results were announced for all candidates who appeared in the design entrance exam. However, merit ranks were released only for those who qualified Part A and were shortlisted. Part B answer booklets of candidates who failed to qualify Part A were not evaluated. The qualifying marks for Part A were released around the time of the result declaration.
IIT Bombay has closed the application form for UCEED 2024. The application form was accessible online at https://uceedapp.iitb.ac.in/UCEED/home.jsp
The last date to apply for UCEED 2024 with regular fee was Novemer 13, 2023. With a late fee of INR 500, applications were accepted up to November 20, 2023.
Applications opened on October 3, 2023.
UCEED application form is for admission to the B. Des programme offered by participating colleges. Candidates who meet the prescribed eligibility criteria need to fill out the form before the last date.
