Satisfied with the college hostel.
Placements: After the 6th semester, students become eligible for placements. Although many companies come for placement drives, there are very few for my course. However, for CS and ECE, there are many opportunities as everyone primarily tries for software companies, leading to significant competition. Consequently, sometimes half of the students are not placed. Companies like Mazagon Dock Limited and Cochin Shipyard, among others from Naval and Ocean Engineering, come for placements. Many people prefer to enter the IT sector, pursuing majors and minors in finance and business management. Therefore, companies like Google, Microsoft, Intel, and others hire during the final year and also offer internships. Many companies visit IITKGP due to its extensive alumni network.
Infrastructure: Rooms typically come furnished with a B.Ed desk, chair, wardrobe, and shelving. Some hostels offer options for single, double, or triple occupancy. Rooms are equipped with essential utilities such as electricity, water, and internet connectivity. Many hostels also have air conditioning or eating facilities. Common areas include study rooms, recreational lounges, and laundry facilities. Some hostels also have attached bathrooms or shared bathroom facilities on each floor. Hostels generally provide a mess or dining hall where students can have their meals. The menu is typically diverse, catering to various dietary preferences and restrictions. It often includes a mix of local and international cuisine, with vegetarian and non-vegetarian options available. The registration process usually involves applying online through the institution's portal. It may require the submission of personal details, course information, and payment of a registration fee.
Faculty: In terms of qualification, the faculty are highly educated. For each subject, there are at least five professors, according to my knowledge in the first year. They have teaching assistants who help professors interact with a large section of 200 students. Still, sometimes it becomes a less interactive class, and sometimes we can't understand the professor.
Other: We have Kshitij Teach Fest and Springs Fest for cultural events. There are many other festivals like Illumination for Diwali where we can enjoy a lot. The library here is one of the biggest, providing access to a large number of books. There is one sports fest and general championship competition between different hostels. Basically, students run most of the campus activities through clubs.

Absolutely satisfied with the campus, a little disappointed by placements, good facilities.
Placements: In the branch of ocean engineering and naval architecture, there are very few placement opportunities. Some companies offer only M.Tech courses. Most students seek jobs in software and are placed last from our branch, with one student achieving 29 LPA as the highest. Internship opportunities are also very few.
Infrastructure: There is a separate building for the department. There is a big pool for testing the projects. The library is the biggest and is available for all students. The lab equipments are good and in working condition. The hostels are okay, with a maximum of three students allotted per room, and the food here is manageable.
Faculty: The teachers are helpful when approached. They are highly qualified because it is IIT, but the teaching quality is not that good for some because they have knowledge but are not able to convey it properly. Exams are pretty good; some subjects have tough exams that we can't predict. The class tests are also pretty good.
Other: I chose this course because of my rank; I was only able to get this course in IIT. I mainly chose it because of the campus, extracurricular activities, and connectivity. The course would be better with more placement offers.

Placements are ok you need to study to get placed good. Infrastructure won't disappoint.
Placements: My branch is Ocean Engineering and Naval Architecture. It is one of the lower engineering branches in the college so placements are lower than the college. The average is around 15 LPA, and the highest is around 40 LPA. Out of the batch size of 75 around 40 students get placed on campus.
Infrastructure: The department has some top-notch facilities available which are rare in the entire nation. It has a weave generator along an owing vessel. There is another tank under construction for research purposes. Hostels are not that great but you are going to love them anyway.
Faculty: Faculty members are highly experienced and helpful. Although the teaching quality is above average. I would say due to the lack of participation from the students the teachers tend to lose interest in teaching the batch. The curriculum is good and industry-ready.
Other: The campus remains very active especially in January due to the fests. Hall days, selection, and Illumination are other activities for the student.

Review of IIT Kharagpur - Indian Institute of Technology.
Placements: Every year almost 65-70 percent are placed (Even in IITs) in the first phase and in the second phase 60-70 percent are placed of remaining students. So, almost everyone gets placed. The median and average are around 20 LPA and the highest 65 LPA. The data of internships is very unstable year-wise, and there is no reliable data. Most people go for non-core tech jobs.
Infrastructure: The Wi-Fi, labs, and classrooms are top-notch; they are the best of what you can get in an Indian engineering college (as we all know IITs are funded heavily by the government). The mess food is above average as compared to other colleges but not the best. But definitely more than just edible. Medical and sports facilities are good and free.
Faculty: Our professors are mostly scientists in DRDO and they are national assets. So, I won't comment on their knowledge. Yes, courses are except some. The semester exams happen twice a semester and they are like board exams, much easier than JEE. Pass percentage is 25-30 percent marks.

Overall good college with great people.
Placements: Approximately 75% Students were placed in my course. The highest was 45 LPA, the lowest was 4lpa, and the average was approximately 18 LPA. Maersk, cochin shipyard, Maersk. Internship is a little hard to get from my course even though 10 students managed to get an internship.
Infrastructure: There is free Wi-Fi connectivity everywhere inside the campus. The classrooms are also nice. IIT KGP has one of the most extensive library in Asian. We mostly have double sharing or triple sharing rooms in hostels. Most of the hostels are quite old. The mess food is quite bad.
Faculty: Teachers are quite helpful and knowledgeable, but the teaching quality is not so good, there are a few exceptional teachers but that is a rare case. Yes the course is relevant for the students in the field of naval architecture. The semester exams are easy to pass but to score well u need to work hard. On an average 90% of students pass.
Other: I had interest in ship building and naval architecture.

You can go for some engineers post in Navy, or if you are interested in some research oriented stuff, you can apply for scientist post. There are many ocean research institutes.
