It has an amazing infrastructure infused with greenery.
Placements: Top recruiting companies for our course, like Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Oracle, JP Morgan Chase, PwC, Goldman Sachs, Deloitte, Schlumberger, HPCL, and Piramal, frequently hire students from this branch. Approximately 60-85 percent of students secure internships, primarily starting in their third year. Companies offering internships are Google, Microsoft, Uber, Amazon, and core firms like Hilabs. Monthly stipend offered to top roles can exceed up to 1 lakh per month, and internship up to 85 percent. In the B.Tech. in Chemical Science and Technology course 2025, the lowest salary package offered is 8 LPA. The average salary package offered ranges from 18-22 LPA. The highest salary package offered is 54 LPA. The placement percentage is 70 percent.
Infrastructure: Classrooms are superb. Wi-Fi problem persists. The library is peaceful, and books are available. Facilities are excellent. The mess provides quality food. Lohit hostel has the best canteen on the whole campus. Free medical facilities are available on campus till 8 PM. Sports facilities are excellent.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful and knowledgeable. The teaching style is good and understandable. Almost all faculty members hold PhD degrees from premier institutions, including other IITs and renowned international universities. Many professors are global leaders in their fields, such as nanotechnology, green chemistry, computational biology, etc. The course curriculum is relevant, and it makes us industry-ready. Semester examinations have moderate to difficult questions. The pass percentage is 100 percent, as per my knowledge.
Other: I chose this course because of my interest in Chemistry. I don't want to change anything in this course. Fests organised are awesome. The campus is beautiful and looks very natural.

Outstanding campus life with satisfactory placements and nice infrastructure.
Placements: In 2025, the placement percentage of my branch (Chemical Science and Technology) is about 81 percent. The highest package is 85 LPA, the lowest is 8 LPA, and the average is 21 LPA. Companies like Google, Microsoft, Infosys, Tata, etc., offer jobs to us. Around 50 percent of students of each batch get an internship, but it primarily depends on an individual's skills.
Infrastructure: There is an academic complex consisting of 5 different scores numbered from 1 to 5. The campus is 700 acres with a central library, 5 lakes, 2 guest houses, 13 active hostels, and 1 closed hostel. The classrooms have proper sitting arrangements, AC, Wi-Fi, plug-in boards, and lots of other facilities.
Faculty: The teachers have a doctorate in their respective fields, they are highly knowledgeable, and they teach really well. The course curriculum is relevant to make students industry-ready. There are 2 exams in one semester, the first is mid-semester and the second is end-sem. The exams are easily crackable with some effort. The pass percentage is above 90 percent.
Other: I had so much interest in Chemistry class 8th, analyzing chemical relations and equations. Because of this interest in Chemistry, I took Chemical Science and Technology as my branch at IIT Guwahati. I think with knowledge of chemistry, they should increase technical subjects in this course.

Professors are not that good.
Placements: The percentage of students placed is about 78%. The lowest package is about 7-8 LPA, while the highest is 3 Cr. Google, Amazon, and many more chemistry-related companies are among the top recruiters. Most of students get internships, and they intern at the same companies listed above.
Infrastructure: There are many good facilities available here, like there is good Wi-Fi facility the entire campus, well-maintained labs, some classrooms that are good while others feel dead, a very large and nice library, and an environment that is very good for study.
Faculty: Teachers are not that helpful, instead, teaching assistants TAs are helpful, but sometimes the TAs can be rude. They are qualified, but we don't know on what basis. The semester exams in almost all IITs are kind tough, as it is their hierarchy to make it tough.

The college has great infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: A total of 81.4% of students got placed from my course, which means 35 out of 43 got placed. The highest salary is 85 LPA, the lowest is 5 LPA, and the average is 17.5 LPA. Top recruiting company is Hilabs. 7-8 students got on-campus internships mainly in Axella Advisory, Google, Microsoft etc., for each role like PM, Finance, SDE, etc.
Infrastructure: Facilities provided in our hostel are the best compared to other colleges. Wi-Fi service is available everywhere on campus. AC services in classrooms are quite good. Library is very good and calm. Hostel Facilities are quite decent and our hostel food is also the best. Mess Food in IIT Guwahati is compared based on OPI forms.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified and knowledgeable. They taught up to the mark but some faculty members are not good, not helpful very angry nature. Our course curriculum is very easy and interesting and very adaptable to every student one can easily get good grades with minimum efforts. However, exams for other branches is quite tough and competitive for our branch.
Other: I chose this course because it's easy to manage. Anyone with basic knowledge and learning ability can get good grades in exams, so we can do more extracurricular activities to enhance our overall college experience. Overall fest, events, and campus crowd is quite decent.

IIT Guwahati honest review.
Placements: Almost 85% of students got placed. The highest package is 1 crore, and the average salary is 25 LPA in my course. Top recruiting companies are Amazon, Uber, JPMC, and Google. About 20% of students got internships, and they got it in Amazon, Uber, and JPMC. Top roles offered are software developer and consultant.
Infrastructure: The facilities are really good. The infrastructure is amazing. It has a big campus with a playground and different buildings for academics and administration. Hostel is quite good. We have a mess which provides 3 times meals then there is a gym. Canteens are available 24 hours. There is a separate hospital for the college people on-campus.
Faculty: Teachers are highly qualified. They have studied at IITs and foreign universities. The course is relevant for engineering and someone interested in Chemistry. The semester exams are difficult and competitive. Pass percentage is minimum 40%.
Other: I chose this course because I had an interest in Chemistry. My JEE rank allowed this branch in the top 7 IITs. I think more labs can be introduced to understand the course better. We have one cultural and one technical fest called Alcheringa and Techniche respectively.

Glimpse of IIT Guwahati .
Placements: 81 percent of students got placed. Top recruiters are Oracle, Microsoft, Quant, Google, Hamilton, etc. SDE, Web developer, etc. are some top roles. The highest package is 1.2 crores and the lowest is 10 lacs. About 60 percent students got internships, mainly the companies like Oracle, Microsoft, Quant, Google, etc. Internships mainly start in the 3rd year of college. .
Infrastructure: The campus is covered with a full Wi-Fi facility. Classrooms are digital. We have one big library, Lakshminath Library. All facilities at the hostel are good; the quality of food is moderate in the mess, but in the canteen, food is so good. We have one hospital on our campus; we have three sports complexes for games; and we also have a sports club room on our campus.
Faculty: Teachers are highly knowledgeable but not so helpful to us. Our chemistry course is mainly outdated and has no use if we go to core placements, unless it is not for coding-related jobs. Semester exams in our college are so difficult; the passing percentage varies but remains at 70 percent.
Other: Actually, I didn't choose this branch; I got it by JoSAA Actually, our course have lot of free time, which provide us time for coding. Curriculum must be updated for our course. Alcheringa is the biggest festival in northeast India; about 70 thousand people attended it. There are three ways to come to college: train, air and bus. There are two scholarships in our college 1. MLN given to toppers of each branch tuition fee gets waived; 2. SC ST scholarship, all fees are waived except hostel charges .

Good college, placement and campus life but needs improvement in the course.
Placements: My course is chemical science and technology and the placements are good in this because, continuously in the previous two years, people got over 1 crore packages and, on average, 20 lakh. Maybe you won't be able to find much about this and it's placements on Google, but believe me, it is a good course if you pay attention to it.
Infrastructure: Hostels are too good, but due to the pandemic, one of the hostels was damaged and now we had to share 1 room with two people. They have separate beds but a common wardrobe and table. And the course is a little hectic. You need to properly attend all the classes, tutorials, labs, etc. Be an above-average student. And it will easily take your whole day.
Faculty: Some faculty members are too good and some are just too bad at teaching. Also, the exams and curriculum are too, since they completed almost 3 months of courses in just 1 month. But since the marking is relatively high, the passing percentage is high. But in some courses, the marking is absolute as well. It depends on professor to professor.

Dissatisfaction arises due to faculty members, mess food, despite good placements and infrastructure
Placements: The placement rate is around 80 percent this year where the highest package offered was 1 crore LPA, the lowest was 7 LPA, and the average package is 20 LPA, but the median is around 15 LPA. Top recruiting companies were Google, Microsoft, Amazon, Apple. Top roles were mostly provided in quants.
Infrastructure: Faculty members are not really great; you'll eventually have to study on your own. They teach for the sake of it. Campus is beautifully constructed; mostly everything is available on campus. From stationary to cafes and clothing shops. Wi-Fi is provided in hostel rooms; there is a library in each hostel and also a central library. In hostel facilities like gym music room TV room mess canteen washing machines conference room gaming room are there. Also, 2 small grounds are provided along with which playing equipment are also provided. But the food quality in the mess is very low. Hospital is also there. You can call an ambulance if you are not able to go on your own.
Faculty: Teachers are very knowledgeable and qualified, but they just lack the quality of teaching. Eventually, I had to study on my own for my exams. The current course is not relevant in any way to make it in the industry. The future courses till final year may provide it, but currently it is not relevant. Semester exams are relatively medium and tough for some subjects. Almost everyone passes as the college does not fail someone; if someone does not have minimum marks then they provide supplementary exams to cover our marks.
