A short review of IIT Roorkee and its earth science department.

Placements: It has good placement and internship opportunities for higher branches. For core, you have to maintain 8+ CGPA atleast as it plays a major factor. The highest package for our branch is around 25 LPA, and the lowest is around 12 LPA. Top recruiters are ONGC, Schlumberger, etc.

Infrastructure: Department facilities are decent with well-equipped labs, and all the instruments work properly. Classrooms are also mostly tidy. Regarding the hostel, for me it's been 3 years now on the campus so I have experience living in 3 hostels. I think the best one is Jawahar by far in terms of mess, canteen, and extracurricular activities.

Faculty: Teachers are pretty helpful and friendly in nature. They are pretty qualified and knowledgeable as well. Doubt-solving sessions are also conducted. The course curriculum is relevant but mostly depends on student's focus and interest whether he or she is industry-ready or not.

Other: Found this very unique course and wanted to explore more of it. I wish that we had more job opportunities in the core industry.

Secure a good rank in JEE Advanced and get yourself a seat in IIT Roorkee for the best learning.

Placements: 90% students got placed with an average package of 24 LPA. The highest package was offered around 40 LPA and the lowest around 12 LPA. ONGC, Schlumberger, Amazon, ICICI Bank, Adobe, Goldman Sachs, and American Express are top recruiters. 80% students got an internship, and for some, it got converted into PPOs. Data Scientists, SDE, Core roles were offered along with others.

Infrastructure: Amazing lecture halls and labs. The library has all facilities ranging from PCs to reading space, and every book a student would require. Students receive high-speed unlimited data anywhere on the campus. Hostel facilities are also great. Study room, gym, visitors area, and 24*7 canteen facilities are provided. Mess food is of high quality and good in taste.

Faculty: Most of the professors are graduates from top Indian and foreign institutions with great knowledge and are dedicated to sharing knowledge. But there will be a few hard to deal with, and you need to study from various resources for your exams. Most of the professors I have encountered are helpful when it comes to projects and deadlines. The course curriculum is well structured. We also have field training included in our curriculum to craft students to be industry-ready.

Review of IIT Roorkee - Indian Institute of Technology.

Placements: From my senior batch of 28, about 25 are placed in core and non-core companies. The highest package offered for our branch was about 45 LPA and the top companies were Google, Uber, Ola, Schlumberger, Vedanta, etc. Talking about internships this year, relatively low this year. The top recruiter for our branch was Ola, BNY Mellon, Cairn, etc. And the highest stipend was about 1.5 LPA. The roles offered were Software Developer, Trainee Engineer, etc.

Infrastructure: Our department, being one of the oldest departments, seems to be a little old-fashioned from the outside but has very high-tech laboratories which are required for our course. Each classroom is well-equipped with Wi-Fi and digital teaching solutions. Many of the hostels are very old, so the walls and paint are according, but they are very comfortable and spacious for a single student. And for 4 years, each hostel has a canteen which is open 24hrs, and a mess also. For medical facilities, a hospital is also there which is 24hrs open for students.

Faculty: The teachers are very well qualified and experts in their respective domains. The teaching quality is average until you go and personally take interest in a particular field. The course curriculum till this year was a little outdated, but now it has been updated and many newer technologies have been added like AIML. Semester exams are not very tough; one can pass them by just 1 week of study. Generally, every student passes in semester exams and hardly anyone fails.

Review of IIT Roorkee - Indian Institute of Technology.

Placements: 85% students are placed in IIT Roorkee. Top recruiting companies are Tata, ICICI Bank, Indian Bank, and others. Top roles are manager and others. And there are good placements and good career prospects in Tata Group, as well as in companies like BHEL and ONGC. Additionally, information teaches basic health care.

Infrastructure: Facilities at IIT Roorkee are unlimited Wi-Fi, well-furnished classes, and well-ventilated central library. Well-developed labs and central gym for both girls and boys, swimming pool, and sports facilities are available. There will be inter IIT competitions available.

Faculty: Teachers were very helpful and knowledgeable. For semester exams, there will be a 14-week gap. Teachers are helpful in studies and extracurricular activities, and there will be semester grades in teacher's hands. Yes, there will be industry-ready trips. There will be moderate-level exams at IIT Roorkee.

Other: I like Earth sciences because there will be more field trips and real-life experiences with the experiments.

Feels proud to study here. The best campus life and placements are awesome.

Placements: More than three-fourths of the batch got placed. INR 33 LPA was the highest package offered in our department, and INR 11 LPA was the minimum. INR 17 LPA was the average package. Microsoft and Schlumberger were the top recruiting companies. More than half of the batch also successfully secured internships for themselves. Data scientist and SDE were the top roles offered in our course.

Infrastructure: All the facilities are awesome. Definitely, a few of the hostels are old, but the new ones are awesome. In the first year, you get an old hostel, but after the first year, every student is allotted some other hostels, including the new ones. Computer labs and department labs are old-school but functional with all the facilities. We have a central library over here too, which is fully air-conditioned and has a separate study room.

Faculty: The curriculum was quite easy for our department, but since this year we have had a change in the course structure, which is on the heavier side. But yes, the new courses are quite interesting and useful for placements and internships. Semester exams were easier for us. Almost 95 percent of students pass the exam.

Other: We have the best cultural fest called Thomso, which is a three-day-long fest with three prongs. We invite superstars like Armaan Malik, Bassi, and more. Also, we have Asia's largest technical fest, Cognizance.

Our college provides good campus, library, and lecture halls.

Placements: Around 90% of students get placed. The highest salary package offered is 46 LPA, the lowest salary package is 10 LPA, and the average salary package is 20 LPA. Top recruiting company is ONGC. Some students get internships in ONGC and technical fields.

Infrastructure: Our campus is beautiful. Hostel rooms are average and are provided on a 2-sharing basis. LAN cable is provided for internet connectivity for every student. Mess is good. Food quality is good. The infrastructure is good.

Faculty: Few teachers are very knowledgeable and a few are less efficient. Some professors have good experience and some have very less. The course curriculum is 70% relevant. Semester exams are a bit difficult, as some subjects are difficult, and some are easy.

Review of IIT Roorkee - Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee.

Placements: This year around 70% of the students from our course got placed. The highest salary package offered by JPMC was about 34 LPA and the average salary package offered would be 13-14 LPA. None of the core company visited our college this year, but Schlumberger offered 3 PPOs for students. Students are offered with the role of a geophysicist. Almost 20-30% of the students got an on-campus internship. Most of them went to ExxonMobil, Vedanta and few went for non-core internships.

Infrastructure: Classrooms in our college are pretty good with Wi-Fi facility. There are plenty of labs in the department, but there is only one main library on the campus. The food served in the mess is eatable. There are canteens in each Bhawan and a hospital is situated on the campus. The sports complex is one of the best in the whole country.

Faculty: Professors of our college have great knowledge. Most of them are among the best researchers in India in their field of study, but only a few of them are very good at teaching. Most of them are moderate teachers, and a few don't have what they are doing. The course curriculum is more or less relevant, but it needs a few changes like a reduction of courses of geology and including courses of data structures and data science for making students ready for placements. The course curriculum is structured for the industry. Most of the faculty members try their best to teach us the course curriculum, which is in a systematic manner. But few teachers don't know how to teach.

Other: Initially, I have chosen this course based on my JEE rank. I find geophysics interesting because it is an oil industry-based course with a lot of scope in research as well. The college should reduce geology and other department courses and add courses of data structure algorithm and data Science which make students ready for placements. Roorkee is mainly-based on our college. We have two main fests, one cultural fest named as Thomso and one technical fest named as Cognizance.

IIT Roorkee, where dreams are turned into reality.

Placements: Our branch has a pretty good placement record. This year the average salary offered was around 12 lacs per annum with ONGC offering 14 lacs per annum for 9 students. The highest package offered was 32 lacs per annum by Goldman Sachs. Our earth science department has good placement scenario with 70-80% students getting placed every year.

Infrastructure: Our campus is situated on the banks of Ganga canal having a huge area of 400 acres. The hostels are well-maintained. Utmost of them have only Indian style toilets. The lecture hall is huge, and the first years have their classes there. Other than that, we have a big library and lots of departments namely CSE, EE, ECE, mechanical, civil, earth science, physics, chemistry, math, etc. At a whole, the infrastructure is awesome, and we are provided with all the resources we need.

Faculty: IIT professors have great knowledge, but most of them don't know how to teach. But some professors are really friendly, and some of them are like living inspiration for many students. But one thing is, you can contact the professors any time if you want some help or about a project or anything. Coming to the course curriculum, I am a 1st-year student, and I don't know much about my course now. So I don't have enough knowledge and experience to comment about the course curriculum.
