For 2022, cut off was 4189 for General category candidates in All India quota for B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering in IIT Roorkee - Indian Institute of Technology. For female candidates in general category under All India quota, 9783 was the closing rank. B.Tech cut off varies depending on the category and domicile/quota of the applicant.

IIT Roorkee offers a four-year BTech programme across 11 specialisations along with a five-year integrated BTech + MTech programmes across two specialisations. The BTech course is the flagship programme of IIT Roorkee. The selection of candidates for the IIT Roorkee BTech programme is based on their JEE Advanced score. To be eligible for the same, aspirants must have completed their Class 12 with a valid score.

The centralised counselling process is managed and regulated by the JoSAA, based on which the candidates are allotted seats. In order to apply for BTech and Integrated MTech at IIT Roorkee, students are required to apply via JEE Main, followed by JEE Advanced. The process of applying for JEE Mains 2025 consists of three steps: registration, form filling, and document upload, followed by payment of application fees.

By paying a total tuition fee amount of INR 8 lakh, students have the opportunity to score salary packages up to INR 27.94 LPA (the highest salary package during 2023 placements). Further, the average and median package offered during IIT Roorkee placement process of 2023 stood at INR 18.34 LPA and INR 18.09 LPA. In terms of ROI, the deal looks decent. In addition to this, the college ranks under the top 10 best institutes in the country for Engineering by NIRF 2022. Hence, BTech from IIT Roorkee is a good idea.

For students belonging to the General AI quota, most of the BTech branches remained open till the last round for admission at IIT Roorkee. The cutoffs of different branches vary across rounds and categories. Some of the BTech branches, such as CSE, ECE, Civil, and Mechanical, etc., reflected a rise in the last round, closing ranks as compared to initial rounds, indicating IIT Roorkee seats remained vacant till the last round for BTech admission. Whether the branch will remain open till the last round or not depends on the availability of seats allocated for each category. For CSE admission at IIT Roorkee, the JEE Advanced Round 4 closing rank was 555 for the students belonging to the OBC category under the AI quota. For the same specialisation and round, the closing rank was 481 in 2024, whereas in 2023, the cutoff rank stood at 405. Candidates seeking admission to BTech in CSE must target to secure a JEE Advanced rank of up to 550 or below. Please note that the cutoff ranks vary for different rounds, specialisations, and categories. 

DOMS IIT Roorkee accepts CAT score for admission to MBA programme. Hence, applicants cannot get a seat in MBA without CAT. Besides, the selection for PhD course is based on UGC NET, CSIR NET, GATE, etc. Aspirants applying for PhD do not require a CAT score. So, the requirement will depend on the course opted by the candidates.

IIT Roorkee BTech cutoff 2024 has been released across multiple specialisations. Based on the Round 5 seat allotment, the BTech cutoff scores ranged between 481 and, 7286 for the General AII India category students. Among all the BTech specialisations, BTech in CSE is the most competitive specialisation. The Last Round for Computer Science and Engineering is 481 for the General AI category.

Furthermore, according to IIT Roorkee OBC AI category cutoff 2024, the Last Round closing rank for Computer Science and Engineering is 236. In addition, the cutoff varied from 236 to 3549 in the OBC category. For more information, click here.

The last year 2022 cutoff ranks for Bachelor of Architecture (B.Arch.) at IIT Roorkee other than General category are - 5783 for OBC, 3162 for SC, 1382 for ST, 2804 for EWS. While the admissions are based on the scores/rank obtained in JEE exam, the last cut offs also change a lot depending on All India quota or Home State. It also varies if the applicant is a female.
