Good infrastucture and research experience, good placements in the previous batch

Placements: Placements are quite good in IIT-Roorkee. Till now, in my batch, a total of approximately 110 companies have come for the recruitments and demanded applications. In the previous batch of 2014-2015, the placements were more than 80%. The highest package offered till now is around 40 lakhs and the average package being 5.5 lakhs. The companies namely Google, Microsoft, McKinsey, DE Shaw, L&T, Evalueserve etc. have visited. Among the internships, almost 60 to 70% companies visiting also provided internship offers to the students. The stipend varied from Rs. 10000 to Rs. 50000.

Infrastructure: The Wi-Fi facility is excellent in classrooms, hostels and libraries. The Mahatma Gandhi Central Library is fully furnished with all necessary books and required material. The classrooms are clean and well-equipped with a projector facility. A free medical facility is available to every student of IIT-Roorkee. The quality of food in the mess is quite good and hygienic, and the hostel rooms are well-equipped with Wi-Fi , LAN facility, cupboards, tables etc. During my stay at the college, I have not faced any major problem worth mentioning here.

Faculty: The faculty team in the college is brilliant. Every professor is at least a doctorate in the field. The knowledge of the professors is quite excellent and they make students learn well through blackboards, presentations, and practical classes in the labs . They are also quite helpful during the assignments and other course work. Regarding course curriculum, I found it good but it can be improved by removing some elective subjects of no use and increasing the number of practical classes.

Other: My college is one of the most prestigious institutes of the country and is being ranked consistently in the top 10 since it was set up. Among sports and other extracurricular activities, it does not lag behind and has all the necessary grounds and amenities required, and has also got different clubs for various activities.

Other: IIT is all about its best faculty, excellent facilities, and a cordial student-professor relationship. IIT Roorkee is located on the foothill of the Himalayas. So there are a lot of nearby tourist attractions and adventurous places to visit on your weekend. When it comes to the placements, the placement record of IIT Roorkee is same as the other IITs. So just chill and enjoy, you will learn and get good placements at the end of the college.

Other: I am studying Mechanical engineering here with a specialisation in welding engineering. The college is equipped with advanced lab facilities. Students are provided with the expert guidance of the most learned faculty members. It has an interactive classroom environment. Other: This is one of the best colleges in India. The infrastructure is very good and the hostels are well maintained. It has a beautiful campus, one of its own kind. Sports facilities are very good. Other: The college has the best infrastructure in North India. The campus life is awesome, especially late night canteens with friends. The campus has an awesome weather throughout the year. The market is very good, and the faculty members are excellent. There are lots of things to learn in the college life. The average salary and placements are just good, sports facilities are very good and up to the mark. There is an educational as well as spiritual environment throughout the campus as there is a temple as well as a church. It was previously Roorkee University and it is the oldest engineering college in India and is well known for the civil engineering and its excellence.
