While the cutoff ranks for admission to NITs vary each year and across different categories, an 84th percentile in JEE Main is generally considered a good score. However, since you belong to the OBC-NCL category, you will have a relaxation in the qualifying cutoff rank compared to the general category. The cutoff ranks for OBC-NCL candidates are typically lower than those for the general category. To get a clearer idea of your chances, you should check the previous year's cutoff ranks for your preferred NITs and the OBC-NCL category. These cutoff ranks are generally published on the official website of the Joint Seat Allocation Authority JoSAA after the completion of the counseling process. Keep in mind that cutoff ranks can vary each year based on several factors such as the difficulty level of the exam, the number of available seats, and the performance of candidates. It's also essential to perform well in JEE Advanced to improve your chances of securing a seat in a desirable NIT.
