IIT Varanasi has released the category-wise cutoffs for various BTech specialisations. For BTech admissions, JEE Advanced is conducted widely by IITs. A JEE Advanced rank of 3000 under OBC category can be considered as the decent rank, however, this rank is insufficient to secure BTech in CSE programme in 2024. Other than CSE, the top courses for which candidates have the option to get a seat at IIT BHU are Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Mining Engineering and Ceramic Engineering.

GATE Qualifying Cutoff: It is the minimum mark a candidate must score so that he or she is eligible for admission. But this does not mean that a candidate is selected for admission. Actually, it is fixed before the announcement of GATE results. It is announced by the conducting IIT and available on GOAPS. It includes qualifying marks for each paper.
Admission GATE Cutoffs: It is the final opening and closing rank score fixed by the participating institutes for the selection of candidates. It is to be noted here that meeting the admission GATE cutoff does not mean that the candidates will be selected for admission. It is fixed after the GATE result date. It is declared by the individual participating institutes and available on their respective counselling portals (CCMT/ COAP).

Commonly asked questions On Fees Breakdown
The hostel fee at IIT BHU is INR 300 per semester. This fee does not include electricity charges, Gymkhana, Medical, Amenities and other hostel services. A total of INR 5,000 (approx.) needs to be submitted during the admission to get a hostel and other facilities. The institute has 16 hostels for boys and girls separately.
For admission to BTech at IIT BHU, candidates must appear for the JEE Main and paticipate in the JoSAA counselling process. JoSAA (Joint Seat Allocation Authority) has been set up by the Ministry of Human Resources Development (MHRD) to manage and regulate joint seat allocation for admissions to over 100 institutes, including IITs, JoSAA3 IIITs, and Other-Government Funded Technical Institutes (Other-GFTIs). To apply at JoSAA, candidates must register and apply via the JoSAA official website. The counselling has an application fee, which must be paid while submitting the form. IIT Varanasi JAM Cutoff 2024 has been released for Round 2. The most competitive course was M.Sc in Chemistry, with the Cutoff of 387, for the General AI category candidates. For the OBC AI category candidates, the Cutoff for M.Sc in Chemistry was 663.
If not eligible for IIT Varanasi, candidates can opt for IIT Gandhinagar with a linient cutoff of 404, for M.Sc in Chemistry, for the General AI category candidates.
