Placements: Model Engineering College (MEC), Thrikkakara, records strong placements, with around 75% of B.Tech students placed in 2025 and CSE/ECE achieving 100%. The highest package reached 44 LPA, with a median of 6.3 LPA. Recruiters include Amazon, Google, IBM, Intel, Deloitte, Cognizant, Oracle, Bosch, and Jio. Internships are offered every semester, supported by the alumni network and industry links. Roles span software engineering, development, core engineering, analyst, and consulting positions.

Infrastructure: At Model Engineering College (MEC), Thrikkakara, students enjoy a vibrant campus with SMART classrooms, well-equipped labs, a central library full of books and digital resources, and fast Wi-Fi everywhere. Sports lovers have space for football, basketball, badminton, and more. The boys' hostel is on campus, the girls' hostel is nearby, and both offer comfortable rooms with tasty veg and non-veg meals. Other: I chose this engineering course because MEC stood out for its strong placements, vibrant tech culture, and solid alumni network that genuinely boosts your learning beyond classrooms. One of the best things is the peer support. Seniors, peers, and alumni all help you grow, and our flagship tech fest, Excel, is a thrilling highlight each year. That said, I wish the campus were a bit bigger and offered more hangout spots outside academics. While scholarships like merit-cum-means ease finance, the extracurricular scene, especially clubs like IEEE, TinkerHub, and the art and sports fests, makes MEC feel like home.

Even though the infrastructure is not up to the mark. The placements in MEC are worth joining.

Placements: Most of my seniors are placed before their course completion. The highest package was about 50 LPA last year, and the average was about 7 LPA to 8 LPA. Many companies have participated in the recruitment. Top recruiters are IBM, Wipro, and Key Value.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of MEC is not upto the mark. It is not vast like normal colleges. It's more like a high school changed to a college. A new building block and computer lab are finished this year, so it's satisfactory. Also, the classrooms and library can undergo few renovations.

Faculty: Teachers are very kind and helpful. Most of them clear the doubts of students without much hesitation. Most of them are highly qualified and some are doctorate holders. Still, some theory classes may feel boring. The last semester exam I faced was a bit challenging but still, it was okay. MEC is one of the top-ranking colleges with a very high pass percentage.

Other: The reason I chose this course is because I love coding and I like to explore more opportunities in it. The best thing about computer science is that it is the most demanded course with high pay in MEC. Excel is the main campus event. Also, many clubs bring up different workshops which are worth attending.

I am dissatisfied with infrastructure, but our college provides good placements and high packages.

Placements: Almost 80% of students got placed in our branch. The placement rate of our course is above average due to alumni support. It decreased now compared to past years. The highest salary package offered in 2023 to 2 students was 50 LPA. Our college will provide very high competition for placements in the coming years.

Infrastructure: Facilities and infrastructure available in our course are very poor. Despite having limited infrastructure and facilities, the college has increased the number of branches, leading to a shortage of classrooms and labs. The college hostel for women is very bad.

Faculty: Teachers are helpful. The teaching quality is good for most of the subjects (main subjects). The course is not enough to make students industry-ready. Semester exams are of moderate level. Around 100% of students pass exams in our class. Some teachers are very friendly.

Best placement records, below average college life.

Placements: MEC has one of the best placement records. This year, the highest package was 52 LPA. The average package is 4-6 LPA. Last year, two students got the highest package of 32 LPA. They were placed at Ansys. Top recruiting companies are TCS, Infosys, Cognizant, Deloitte, and EY.

Infrastructure: The only drawback of MEC is its lack of space and infrastructure. They have AC and Wi-Fi in the computer lab, but some computers will not work. Also, there is a lack of space in the computer lab. At times, it gets crowded. I am not staying in the college hostel, so I don't know the food quality of the hostel.

Faculty: MEC has the best faculty. They have good qualifications in the teaching field. They also know how to handle their students. Most of the teachers try to build a good student-teacher relationship. We follow the 2019 KTU syllabus. It's a bit old. They do not teach Python. But the new 2024 scheme focuses on relatively new fields. The difficulty of semester exams is moderate to hard. It depends on the level of your preparation. Commonly, in the CS branch, very hard question papers are not given.

Placements: MEC Kochi is a well-known engineering institution in Kerala, India Here is a general overview of placement trends. 1. The placement rate is generally between 80 and 90% across different branches. The highest package is 52 lakh per annum, and the average package is 8.1 lakh per annum. Top recruiting companies are TCS, Amazon, Wipro, IBM, Oracle, and SOTI. 2. Around 60 to 70% of students secure internships during their course, which is a significant number. Many startups and established companies recruit from here.

Infrastructure: 1. Department Facilities The entire campus, including classrooms, labs hostels and common area, is Wi-Fi enabled, providing internet access to students and faculty. MEC is known for its well-equipped and updated labs catering to different branches such as electronics, computer science electrical engineering and biomedical engineering. Classrooms are equipped with projectors; however, there could be improvements in seating arrangements.There is also a Library where students can access standard textbooks and study materials. 2.Hostel facility Model Engineering College Kochi has both mens and women's hostels. The mess provides regular meals generally of decent quality but like most institutional messes, it may not cater to everyone's taste. Talking of medical facilities, there are no such first aid centers in both college and hostel that I know of. 3. Sports and games Model Engineering College Kochi encourages sports and offers basic infrastructure for outdoor and indoor games. There is a ground for cricket, football and athletics. The college organises interdepartmental and intercollege sports competitions.

Faculty: The faculty at Model Engineering College Kochi are qualified and experienced in their respective fields. Most professors hold B.Tech and M.Tech. They are generally approachable and willing to help students both inside and outside the classroom. The teaching quality is considered quite good. There approach is generally a mix of theoretical and practical learning. Curriculum: Model Engineering College Kochi is under KTU. The curriculum could be improved, as it is often vast and makes the semester tightly cramped and hectic. The semester exams are considered moderate. While they are not easy, they are manageable for students. The exams test both conceptual understanding and practical knowledge, requiring students to apply what they have learnt in real-life scenarios. Past percentage varies by department and the individual performance of students, but generally around 85 to 90% of students pass the semester exams.

Other: I decided to choose model Engineering College Kochi because of its good reputation for good placements and internship opportunities. They also have a strong alumni network that helps in industry connection and job referrals. Some of the best things about model Engineering College Kochi is that there is a good blend between academics and cultural events. Technical and cultural fests, like Excel, one of the largest tech fests in South India, add value to student life. Besides academics, Model Engineering College Kochi offers a range of extra curricular activities, including coding clubs robotic clubs , FOSS clubs, etc.
