B.Tech. in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering - Batch of 2029
4.2
Absolutely worthy regarding my department, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.
Placements: Around 85% of students are placed. The highest package is 18 LPA in the core sector, while the lowest is 7 LPA. The average package is around 8–10 LPA. Companies like JSW, TATA, and Vedanta visit the campus. Top roles are offered in both core and non-core sectors depending on the chosen specialization. The course provides good preparation for both areas and offers good opportunities in core fields as well.
Infrastructure: Facilities are good. The infrastructure is good for our department with sufficient labs, classrooms, and library facilities. Hostel facilities are also good, including food quality, rooms, washrooms, and overall management by staff.
Faculty: Teachers are very helpful and highly qualified with good knowledge. The teaching quality is also good in our department. The course curriculum is relevant. It makes students industry-ready. Semester exams are difficult in our department.
Other: I chose this course because of the good placement opportunities and my interest in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering.

B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering - Batch of 2029
3.6
Absolutely satisfied with the college because of placements.
Placements: Placement is one of the best things about National Institute of Technology Raipur. Despite being considered a middle to lower NIT, students still choose it mainly because of its placement rates. It is not just for CS and IT, but also because core placements are good, especially in Mechanical, Chemical, and Metallurgy. For Mechanical, the average remains close to 8–9 LPA over the last 2–3 years, and the highest goes around 18–20 LPA. The placement rate is among the finest compared to other branches, reaching around 93–94 percent.
Infrastructure: It is not a very large college in terms of infrastructure. Expectations should be kept low as it mainly lacks in infrastructure. There is not even basic hostel facility available for all students. Only a few students get hostels in the first year. Hostel allocation is based on JEE rank and reservation norms, and later depends on CPI/SPI.
Faculty: Some faculty members are good, but from an exam point of view, students mostly prepare on their own using YouTube, Chat-GPT, etc. Studying 4–5 days before exams is usually enough for a decent CPI/SPI. The curriculum is similar to other NITs.
Other: If you want good placements and do not have any other options, you can choose NIT Raipur. Otherwise, do not come with very high expectations.

3.2
Average placement and campus life.
Placements: 83.53 percent (71 students placed out of 85 eligible) is the placement percentage. The highest package is around 16 LPA. The average is 8–9 LPA. Some top recruiters include Vedanta Limited, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Jindal Steel & Power, Hindalco Industries, Adani Group, and Reliance Industries.
Infrastructure: Metallurgical labs are good. There are a few smart classrooms as well. Accommodation like Sirpur Hostel offers merit-based housing. Food quality is average. Since everything is connected under one building, moving between classrooms are quick and easy.
Faculty: Faculty members are highly qualified and emphasize deep theoretical knowledge. The curriculum is core-industry relevant but requires self-learning for IT and analytics roles. Semester exams are moderately difficult. It requires a 35% pass mark, resulting in an 85–90% success rate.
Other: On-campus hostels are highly restricted, forcing many students to find outside PG.

Decent college, not too good, not too bad.
Placements: I am new to college, so I do not have much information about placements, but as I have heard, it is okay. For core branches, it is average, but many students prepare for the GATE examination. So NIT is considered very top-notch for some, while for others it is extremely poor or just okay. More details can be checked on the website.
Infrastructure: The college provides Wi-Fi, but the network is very weak. Labs are fine and have almost all the required instruments, and students enjoy lab classes. Classrooms are also okay; some are air-conditioned while others are not. The library has a very small seating capacity.
Faculty: Teachers are quite helpful, well-qualified, and somewhat knowledgeable, but students still need to study on their own for exams. The curriculum is very outdated. Semester exams are not very tough; students can pass with one day of preparation.
Other: Samar is the sports fest and Eclectika is the cultural fest.

NIT Raipur curriculum is awesome, but the worst part is the low number of hostel seats.
Placements: The placement rate is around 70–80 percent. The highest package is 60 LPA. The lowest is 6 LPA. The average is around 17 LPA. Top recruiters include Amazon, Google, Adobe, Oracle, and Samsung. Internship is compulsory. So the college provides internships to almost all students unless they have a backlog. The common role offered is Software Development Engineer.
Infrastructure: All kinds of facilities are provided in the college, including a library, playground, Wi-Fi, ethernet for hostel students, and a large computer lab. There is a dedicated building for computer labs called CCC. The only drawback is the limited number of hostel seats for both girls and boys.
Faculty: Teachers are helpful, qualified, and knowledgeable, like in other NITs and IITs. Teaching quality is good, and the course curriculum is relevant, except for the first year, when all branches study the same subjects. Semester exams are not very difficult, and even if they are tough, relative grading ensures CGPA is not significantly affected.

Absolutely satisfied because of faculty and college life.
Placements: Hello everyone, if you go to check the placement stats of the Biotech branch, it is quite low, but the reason behind it is that many of the students do not even qualify or are eligible to sit in the interview for campus placement. The reason is simple: low CGPA. If you are a good student and continue to study efficiently after joining college, then biotech also has a good choice and placement, but you have to work hard; it is one of the growing branches that improves its rate of placement every year.
Infrastructure: Facilities are very good. The only thing is that till now, the infrastructure is not up to NIT level, but new buildings are under construction for new classrooms and hostels also. A central library is also there, and the classrooms are decent. Hostel facilities include mess food, games, and I am not sure about Wi-Fi because I am a day scholar.
Faculty: Faculty are very good at their work and teach very well. They are not very strict. As I am a 1st year student, I have concluded that our curriculum is relevant and the 1st year syllabus is the same for all branches. Exam patterns are fixed. Each semester, they conduct two exams, mid-semester and end-of-semester, which are also not very difficult if you study well.
Other: Actually, I didn't choose my branch/course according to my rank. It was the only branch in my college that I was eligible for.

NIT Raipur has good placements.
Placements: In my Computer Science and Engineering batch, there are 116 students in our batch, and the placement percentage is quite good (85%) with a good average LPA of 15 LPA, and the highest goes up to 80 LPA. Many companies visit here, like Oracle, PhonePe, Amazon, etc. Many students get internships in their 2nd and 3rd years. Good environment in college, coding culture, etc.
Infrastructure: For my department, hostels are available, but it can be a problem for students in the lower department in the first year because hostels are allocated based on ranks in the first year, and in the second year, they are based on CPI in the first semester. LAN is available in hostels. Food quality depends on hostels, but they are eatable. There is a new sports building and a gym is available, opening time is 5 PM and closing time is 7 PM, only 2 hours, which should be increased by them because of too much crowd due to only 2 hours. Medical facilities are also good.
Faculty: Most of the faculty members are good, but some of the assistants do not behave in a manner with some students sometimes, but most of them are good. The teaching quality is good, but we have to study on our own at last. The semester exams are quite difficult, but they give a good value to our knowledge.
Other: The best thing about NIT Raipur is that the placements are good here.

I’m dissatisfied by infrastructure and facilities.
Placements: From my branch, 12 LPA is the median package you can expect, and for the highest, it is 23 LPA or something, the lowest is 2-3 LPA. Out of 100, almost 80-85 people are placed in our branch. You can go to all industries that do iron steel, etc., making processes such as Kalyani Steel.
Infrastructure: The infrastructure is horrible, for an NIT at such a name, or stood nowhere to my expectations. I am in my 4th semester right now, but till today we haven't had any air conditioning in our classroom. It heats up too much in summer. Faculty members have personal ACs in their cabins, and other branches, such as mining and IT, have air-conditioned conditions. This college gets a good amount of maintenance money, but invest minimal. I don't live in hostels, but what I have heard is that they don't provide quality food or water.
Faculty: Easy to pass the exams. All of the materials are available in the drive, and you can directly study from there. PYQs are available, and notes are available. The relevance of the course is somewhat good, and some professors teach really well. Curriculum is a way to study, to be honest.
Other: Just for the degree, I have chosen this course, I have nothing to do with metallurgy. I have my own work going on. Fests are horrible. A cheap singer comes to it, and no decoration as such.

Q:   How does the NIT Raipur brand help MSc graduates in the job market?
A:

NIT Raipur is a brand that is instantly recognised by top technical and scientific recruiters across India. Having an MSc from an NIT gives you a distinct advantage when applying for roles at government labs like DRDO or CSIR. The institute's history of excellence means that employers trust the quality of your training and laboratory skills.

Q:   What is the deadline for filling choices for the NIT Raipur MSc programme?
A:

NIT Raipur aspirants can lock their college choices on the CCMN portal in June. This choice-filling phase is where you officially list the institute and your desired Science branch. Once the window closes, your preferences are locked and used for all allotment rounds. Do double-check your list before the 5:30 PM deadline on that day.

Q:   Why should I choose NIT Raipur for MSc instead of a traditional university?
A:

NIT Raipur provides an MSc experience that is much more technical and application-oriented than traditional state universities. You will be studying on a campus that focuses on engineering and innovation, allowing for interdisciplinary learning. The funding for Science research projects here is often higher, providing better access to expensive analytical tools.

Q:   Which entrance exam is required for the NIT Raipur MSc course?
A:

NIT Raipur selects students for the MSc course based on their IIT JAM scores. This is a national-level test that happens once a year. You must score well in the subject you wish to pursue at the Masters level. A good rank here is the only way to get a seat. Make sure to register for JAM well in advance.

Q:   How does the CCMN portal work for NIT Raipur MSc admissions?
A:

NIT Raipur uses the CCMN portal to handle all MSc seat allotments online. After your JAM results, you list this college as a preference on that website. The system then offers seats based on your rank in multiple rounds. You can track your application status easily through your login.

Q:   When do the physical reporting and classes start for MSc at NIT Raipur?
A:

NIT Raipur typically expects new MSc students to report in person for document verification in early August. In previous years, classes have officially commenced around August 14, following the completion of all regular and special rounds. This physical reporting is the final step to becoming an official student on campus.

Q:   I got a 6000 rank in the JEE Mains. I am an OBC candidate. Am I eligible to get admission at NIT Raipur?
