Good college but it has a hostel shortage.

Placements: I'm Aas Khobragade, from the Mechanical Department 1st Year NIT Raipur. In our department around 80-85 percent of students got placed last year as per college data. The highest package offered is around 22 LPA and the lowest is 6 LPA. The average package is 9 LPA-10 LPA. The companies that recruit are Tata, etc.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of the Mechanical Department is nice, not much good but okay. With the labs and all the equipment. There is a library on the 2nd Floor of the college where books are available. You can issue them. The hostel facilities are decent with a shared room with 2 people in the first year and 1 student in the second year.

Faculty: The faculty in our department are very knowledgeable and qualified with many having done their Ph.D. degrees. They are helpful but sometimes they can shoot at you if you don't listen to them. Our course makes students ready by doing work in labs. The exams are moderate level and the passing percentage is 35 percent of the top score.

Other: I chose this course because I'm Interested in the core branch.

My honest reaction to NIT Raipur.

Placements: The placement of NIT Raipur is considered as the lowest package of NIT Raipur, which is 3 LPA, the average package is 12 LPA, and the highest package is a maximum of 40 LPA. The percentage of students who got internships is 45% in mechanical engineering per year, atleast 30% got placement. The recruitment companies in mechanical engineering are Vedanta, Tata Motors, and Reliance.

Infrastructure: The infrastructure of NIT Raipur is very good and attractive, associated with a vast campus and good facilities. There are workshop practices for mechanical engineering. Wi-Fi in each department. The hostel facilities are satisfactory, but lack of hostel beds for students. There is also a medical room, an indoor games club, and a big outdoor games field. I really conclude that the infrastructure is good and the facilities associated are very good, spread out in a vast area. It really seems like a good campus.

Faculty: The course curriculum of NIT Raipur is relevant and designed according to its reliability. The professor is well educated from top IITs. It helps to encourage the student to get a good placement and develop more skills. There are 4 exams in a year, 2 MST and 2 end sem. MST is easy, but the end sem is relatively tough. The pass percentage is 90%.

Other: Actually, I have an interest in machine development, and I think this course helps me a lot. There should be more gadgets machinary system should be provided to students. Eclecrtika is the fest in NIT Raipur. In this fest, students enjoy dancing, singing, and a fashion show. The student got a scholarship through NSP.

Placements: I am from the mechanical engineering branch. The placement percentage is about 90 percent. The highest package is 21 LPA, the lowest is 8 LPA, and the average package is 10 LPA. In my course, the top recruiting companies are Dassault Systèmes, JSPL, JSW, Reliance, and Caterpillar. In my course role, I offer data analytics, GET evt.

Infrastructure: In my course, a lot of labs are available, like the material testing lab, the engineering mechanics lab, the Rac lab, the measurement and control lab, the heat engine lab, Wi-Fi, and the library. In my hostel, everything is good, but one disadvantage is that there is a shortage of hostel space, so most of the students live outside. Medical facilities, sports, and games are available.

Faculty: Teachers are helpful and friendly, and the teaching quality is good. This course curriculum is relevant, and it makes the students industry-ready. The difficulty level is moderate. The two exams are conducted mid sem and end-of-semester sem The passing percentage is 90 percent.

Other: I chose this because of my interest in automobiles. I want to improve in the field of autonomous vehicles. The main event in my college is Eklectika. The main scholarship is NSP 5.

Life of a mechanical engineer at NIT Raipur.

Placements: In our branch, about 90 Mechanical students were placed. The highest package was around 19 LPA, the average stood near 10 LPA, and the lowest was about 6 LPA. Top recruiters included Tata Motors, Mahindra, L&T, JSW, etc. Overall, good maximums are placed for those who are eligible.

Infrastructure: The hostel facilities at NIT Raipur are manageable but not the best. Since rooms are limited, not every student gets hostel accommodation. The essentials like mess, Wi-Fi, and common areas are there, but the overall infrastructure could definitely be better.

Faculty: The faculty is helpful, the curriculum covers the important subjects well, and exams are mostly mid-seems and end-seems with a mix of theory and numericals. So, the overall difficulty level is around 80 per cent. Bit copy checking is strict, so it is difficult to score.

Other: It's a better college than some colleges. If the student is good, then there is no problem for their career.

Placements: For mechanical, the placement percentage stands in top 2 in NIT Raipur with 98%. The average salary is 9 LPA. NIT Raipur mainly concentrates on number of placed in placements. Companies such as Hyundai, Tata, Steel Plants, etc., come to the placements.

Infrastructure: There are enough labs and classrooms. Infrastructure is not upto the mark as it was built many years ago. It should improve in terms of infrastructure. With better infrastructure, the ranking goes very high. Hostel is the main drawback as there are not enough hostels provided. Hostels are provided only to some people based on CGPA.

Faculty: Faculty members and curriculum are okay. All the main faculty members are very good regarding their knowledge and their teaching skills. Curriculum is very relevant from 2nd year. But for first-year students, the curriculum is totally irrelevant and only few focus on the course they choose.

Other: Infrastructure should be improved. There are also few events like Eclectika which is the cultural fest of NIT Raipur and it goes well.

Overall, a decent college with every kind of experience.

Placements: Nearly 85% of students got placed. The highest package is 20 LPA, the lowest is 5 LPA, and the average is 9 LPA. Top recruiters for mechanical engineering include BPCL, Caterpillar, Jindal Steel, etc. The training and placement cell connects students and the recruiting company well.

Infrastructure: The facilities provided for the course are quite decent enough. Labs are okay and classrooms also are good but seats are way too old. Wi-Fi is available almost everywhere but works sometimes and not the other times. The condition for hostels is below average because firstly not everyone gets hostel, secondly the food is average and the water is below average.

Faculty: Teachers are helpful and well-qualified, plus they put their 100 % effort into teaching. The course curriculum is not completely relevant because it is quite an old curriculum we have to learn things from ourselves to be industry-ready. The semester exams are not that difficult and are based on what is taught in class and previous year questions as for passing percentage it is around 85% to 90%.

Other: I chose this course solely because of the college brand tag that is NIT. The things which can be better in this mechanical engineering course is that it can be updated to the latest technology. The events and fest are awesome and the best in the state the clubs and communities are pretty active. Many students get scholarships from private as well as the government via college and without college also.

Good placements but bad infrastructure.

Placements: This college is mostly known for its placements, and 90% are placed in mechanical engineering this year. Though the packages offered are not very high, most students are getting placed. On-campus placements would show low packages, but off-campus offers higher packages than these.

Infrastructure: As this is one of the oldest NIT colleges, this might not have the infrastructure expected before joining the college. Hostels are not provided for everyone from the 2nd year. But in the first year, every other state student will be provided a hostel.

Faculty: Most of the teachers are very qualified and experienced. But as we know, college is all about learning by oneself, and the professors won't be much help. The difficulty range is of average level, not as high as a few IIT colleges, but they are focusing on the verbal skills of the students.

Other: It is a small campus, but a new campus will be shifting to Naya Raipur. Fests are not very much anticipated, but those that are arranged will be done in a very grand way. Scholarships of different types are always provided.

Really good placements, hostel facilities are disappointing.

Placements: 85 percent of students are placed in our college, and some other students go for higher studies. Placements are really good for all the branches in the college. The highest package for Mechanical is 20 LPA, and the lowest package is 5 LPA. Tata and Bhilai Steel Plant are the top recruiting companies, and many other companies are also present. All students get a chance to do an internship.

Infrastructure: There is a bit of a problem with the hostels. There are only 2 hostels for girls, and hostel accommodation is provided based on merit and distance from your hometown. The Wi-Fi is good in the hostel, and the classrooms are fairly okay. The library has a wide range of books for all branches.

Faculty: The teachers are highly qualified and good. Sometimes it's difficult to understand the teachers, but you should prepare for exams from the start. The exams are neither too tough nor too easy. The pass percentage is relatively good, and it is completely based on the CBCS scheme.

Other: In the beginning, I was disappointed to join Mechanical , but later I changed my opinion due to the college atmosphere. You can find good friends and enjoy with them. Events and fests are quite common, and you can enjoy the events. It’s better if you learn skills from teachers irrespective of your course.
