Nikita shared that she pursues countless hobbies like “reading spiritual books such as Bhagavad Gita, classical music, Odissi dance, gardening, embroidery  and henna art to name a few”.

Shiksha spoke at lengths with Nikita Bharti to find out her prep strategy and GD/PI experience in NIFT Entrance Exam 2018 as well as her future plans. Go through the detailed interview below for more insights.

Q. Congratulations! Did you expect to be the topper?

A.

Thank you so much. Well, not at all. Securing AIR 5 is a big achievement for me. I would like to give its credit to Lord Jagannath who always gives me positivity and inspiration to work harder without thinking about the results, and my parents who constantly provide me support and motivation.

Q. What is your score in NIFT admissions 2018?

A.

I have scored overall 72.52 out of 100. My common merit rank is 5, whereas my category rank (general) is 4.

Q. How was your NIFT written exam?

A.

Written exam was quite interesting, though a bit lengthy. It was more of a logical sort than a technical one.

Q. How did you prepare for your written exam?

A.

Actually I came to know about this course just 2 days before the deadline of filing the NIFT application form and found it to the best course for me. I had just 20 days for preparing for my written exam. But I took up the challenge, bought books on GK and NIFT preparation and studied hard for 20 days.

Q. Did you join any coaching?

A.

For the written exam, I prepared on my own. For the GD-PI round I had taken 10 days coaching at Desizn Circle, Delhi.

Q. What as per you are the mistakes one should avoid while preparing for the exam?

A.

Poor time management is a blunder. Manage your time well and practice as much as possible, be it for the written exam or for the group discussion.

Q. How did you prepare for your GD/PI?

A.

I practiced many GDs and read articles online to gain knowledge. Brushing up your GK is very important.

Q. Any tips for aspirants on how they should prepare for the GD/PI admission round?

A.

Involve yourself in as many group discussions as possible, be it in your college, office or even at home. You should know how to put forth your point without being arrogant. Put up relevant points.

Regarding the Interview, you should have a strong grip over your graduation subjects apart from having deep knowledge about fashion trends and terminology. But the most important thing is that you should know “Who you are” and “why do you want to do this course” and do you really want to pursue the course or not.

Q. Could you explain the entire GD/PI process.

A.

GD PI was very professionally conducted. We were allotted batch numbers. First GD was conducted then batch wise we were called for the personal interview. All GD topics were based on fashion industry, technology and trends.

Q. Did all the students get the same questions?

A.

No, the question level was different for each. I was majorly asked questions related to my graduation subject (commerce) and French in my interview.

Q. Was there a supervisor at the centre?

A.

Yes.

Q. Did you give any other entrance exam?

A.

Yes, I have given entrance of FDDI- MBA in Retail and Fashion merchandise. I found its pattern to be quite technical based.
