AP EAMCET 2017 Topper Satyam Ralhan

Meet Satyam Ralhan from Delhi, who bagged an All India Rank 3 in the AP EAMCET 2017, results for which were declared on May 5. According to this topper, after spending more than four years on preparations, getting a top rank in AP EAMCET 2017 was all he could have ever expected.

He shares that there is no particular time frame required for preparations. It all depends on the candidate’s will to work hard and achieve the goals. Ralhal dreams to pursue BTech in Computer Science from IIT Bombay and is looking forward to work on interesting college projects during his course duration.

In a candid interview with Shiksha, Satyam shared his preparation strategies and tips for future aspirants to crack the engineering entrance exam. Read the full interview below.

Q. Congratulations on your achievement. How are you feeling being the AP EAMCET 2017 topper? Did you expect it?

A.

Well, thank you so much. It is a happy moment for me and my family. The results were as expected and it was a boost for me to appear for other entrance exams. Now, I am looking forward to crack JEE Advanced 2017 as well.

Q. What was your rank in JEE Main 2017? Can you share your JEE Main and AP EAMCET 2017

A.

JEE Mains 2017 rank: 36. JEE Main 2017 score: 330 marks. According to the released answer keys, I scored 158 marks but after normalization my score was 152. My rank in AP EAMCET 2017 was 3.

Q. How long have you been preparing for?

A.

I was aiming to crack IIT admissions and the will to achieve my goal was enough to work hard and get a good rank in AP EAMCET 2017.  I got enrolled into an IIT JEE preparation programme since I was a class 9th student.  My plan of action was to have a thorough grip on the concepts and also to keep no backlogs for doubts.

Q. What was your preparation strategy for the exam? What is the minimum time frame needed to prepare for both the exams?

A.

The time needed depends on the student’s caliber to work hard and their will to achieve the set goal. I feel that two years are enough to prepare for a determined and hardworking student.

Q. Which institute are you vying for and which is the course you aim to pursue?

A.

I want to study Computer Science Engineering from IIT Bombay. It is my dream institute among all the other IITs.

Q. What are your expectations from your dream institute?

A.

I expect excellent academics and interesting projects. A good job is what everyone desires after graduating from their dream institute.

Q. Have you taken any other exam/s besides JEE Main, JEE Advanced and AP EAMCET 2017?

A.

I also appeared for VITEEE 2017 and managed to bag an All India Rank 73.

Q. Suggest some important books and study material for AP EAMCET and JEE preparations.

A.

We used our own study material and self-created notes. My strategy was to solve as many mock tests as possible.

Q. Do you think coaching is required to crack JEE & AP EAMCET 2017?

A.

I think coaching is required to crack IIT JEE. While preparing for JEE, most of the topics are covered for various other engineering entrance exams like AP EAMCET or maybe VITEEE.

Q. So, tell us something about your family?

A.

We are a family based in Delhi. My father is an Electrical engineer and my mother is a teacher. I have an elder brother who is pursuing his BTech.

Q. What plans for the future? What do you want to become?

A.

Till now it was only about cracking IIT-B admissions and pursuing BTech in Computer Science. Maybe, I will be able to plan further during my 4 year BTech programme in college.
