IIT-Kharagpur To Offer Courses In Bio-Sciences
IIT Kharagpur's School of Medical Science and Technology will begin offering academic programmes in the fields of biology, medicine and engineering from the upcoming academic year. The institute aims to bridge the gap between Bio Sciences and Engineering along with facilitating multidisciplinary and interdisciplinary approaches in biomedical research to produce world-class scientists and clinicians.
One of the new courses to be launched would be a two year MTech course in Biomedical Engineering. The idea is to offer a medically-oriented perspective to students pursuing other disciplines. Admissions to this course will be through GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering).

IIT Kharagpur has joined hands with national and international bodies to strengthen the medical research and data analytics of its soon to be launched 400-bed super-specialty hospital which is scheduled to be operational by 2019.
In 2017, Shiksha reported that IIT Kharagpur will be offering MBBS courses from 2019.

Yes, 50% aggregate is a decent accepted score for IIT Kharagpur admissions but this 50% does not mean that the student will get the admission as scores in entrance exams are quite important.
