GATE 2026 reservation criteria

• For General category, a score of 500 is often on the low side for popular MTech branches in top IITs. In such cases, it is better to look for interdisciplinary courses or new IITs. 
• For OBC-NCL and EWS, there is moderate chance for getting core branches in mid-tier IITs and new IITs. 
• For SC/ST and PwD categories, scoring 500 in GATE have good chances in getting into top IITs in popular branches like EE, ME, and ECE.

IIT Guwahati will issue GATE 2026 scorecard from March 27 onwards. Candidates can download their result scorecard at GOAPS using enrollment ID and password. It is advised to keep multiple printout and scanned copy of the scorecard to apply for COAP counselling.

Candidates must note that IIT offer admission to MTech programmes through Common Offer Acceptance Portal (COAP).
