IISc Bangalore admission is competitive due to high cutoff and limited seats. The entrance tests required for getting admission in the institute are taken by many. Hence, the chances of securing seat becomes less. Students are required to perform well in the entrance exam required for their course to get admission in the institute. In 2024, the JEE Main closing R1 cutoff for General category candidates was 903 for BSc (Research) in Physics.
After JEE session 2 is completed, only those candidates who are aiming for IITs need to start preparing for JEE Advanced after clearing JEE Main. Those who are above the 98th percentile should start preparing for JEE Advanced as soon as possible. Those below this, between the 95th and 98th percentile, should focus on attempting more mock tests and previous year question papers so that they have a better chance of clearing JEE Advanced
Yes, it is possible to get MTech admissions to IITs without GATE, but it does have some eligibility and conditions. Various IITs, including IIT Hyderabad, Madras, Delhi, etc, offer admission to their master's programs without a GATE score. Self-Sponsored Category
Many IITs reserve regular M.Tech seats for candidates funded by their jobs. Such candidates are exempted from taking the GATE entrance test to get admission to M.Tech programs. However, candidates must have at least two years of work experience to qualify for this facility. Besides that, the candidates must have two years of employer-granted leave and must be responsible for taking financial assistance for a two-year M.Tech course.
Exceptional Academic Performance
Direct admission is offered to M.Tech program at IIT Madras, IISc Bangalore, IIT Hyderabad, etc. Students with outstanding educational qualifications throughout their academic. IIT B.Tech graduates with a CGPA of 8.0 or above are eligible for direct admission at IITs. The respective department will evaluate its performance.
There is no University-wise IISC entrance exam required for BTech course, students need to clear JEE and JEE Mains. Aspirants with a valid bachelor’s degree in the relevant specialisation are eligible to apply for the PG course. Admission to M.Tech at IIT Mandi is based on merit in GATE followed by COAP counselling. Candidates with a score equal to more than the cutoff become eligible to participate in the counselling round. In addition, IIT graduates with an 8.0 CGPA or above are exempted from the GATE score requirement and can apply directly.
You can apply for two GATE papers (maximum). While filling out the GATE application form, you need to select the primary and secondary paper. The GATE secondary paper must be from the subject list prescribed by the GATE authorities. Before adding the paper, go through the subject combination list and GATE paper codes.
Candidates opting for two GATE papers will have to pay double the fees mentioned -
For example,
- If a general category candidate is applying for two GATE papers, then he/she has to pay a fee of INR 4000 (during the regular timeline) and INR 5000 (during the extended period).
- The same applies to the female, SC, ST, and PwD category candidates, INR 2000 (during the regular time period) and INR 3000 (during the extended period).
