GATE MTech Admission Process at IITs and NITs
Admission to MTech programs at NITs and IITs are solely through GATE Score. Candidates must qualify GATE in order to be considered for MTech admission at any IIT or NIT.
After qualifying GATE, candidates will have to register for the online counselling to get admission in the institute. Counselling for IITs is organized by COAP whereas for NIT, the counselling is managed by CCMT.
Admission to MTech Programs at IITs for Students Graduated from IIT
Students who are pursuing/completed their BTech/BS (4 year) course from any IIT and have an average CGPA/CPI of 8.0 or higher can directly apply for MTech admission at any IIT without GATE score. IIT Graduates are waived off from appearing in GATE and can directly apply to the institute online. The admission will be provided by shortlisting candidates through an interview on the subject/course for which they are applying.
