AICTE GATE Scholarships 2025: The All India Council for Technical Education has closed the GATE scholarship registration process. Candidates can check complete details regarding AICTE GATE 2025 scholarships, eligibility, documents required, etc.

AICTE GATE 2025 Stipend: GATE 2026 scholarship link for registration is closed at AICTE portal. However, they can access the login portal using their email ID and password. Candidates with unique ID must visit the website and upload the required documents before the due date. Students who have qualified GATE exam receive scholarship during their MTech programme. What is GATE Scholarship 2025 Programme?

It is a financial assistance offered to GATE-qualified candidates. AICTE offers GATE scholarship to students to sudy higher studies. To avail scholarship, applicant must have a valid GATE score.

  • Financial Assistance given to M.Tech students is Rs. 12,400 per month and generally paid for 22 months.
  • Financial Assistance given for Ph.D. programs (Direct Ph.D. after B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc equivalent with a valid GATE score) is Rs. 37,000 per month for the first two years and Rs. 42,000 per month from the third to the fifth year.

How long does it take GATE scholarship amount to get credited?

For students who have taken admission through GATE scores, can expect the scholarship amount to get credited within three to five months after admission. Now, this can vary from college to college. For some colleges/institutes, students can receive their scholarship amount within one to two months. The GATE scholarship amount will be credited to the bank account given. 

For example, if GATE scholarship registration and admission/joing was done in July, students are expected to get their scholarship amount credited by October or November. The scholarship amount will be made available from starting from the joining date, which means that the GATE stipend amount will be available for July, August, September, October, and November in total.

The cutoff score in GATE is the minimum mark required to qualify for the exam. The conducting body releases the qualifying cutoff along with result. It determines, whether a candidate is eligible to participate in the counselling round or not. 

The cutoff score in GATE varies every year (category-wise), depending on the number of students registered, difficulty level of the question paper, and previous year's trends. The GATE cutoff score are mainly of two types - admission and qualifying cutoff.

General Instructions for Availing GATE Scholarship 2025

  • Only GATE or GPAT-qualified candidates are eligible for scholarship.
  • Candidates enrolled for part-time courses are not eligible. 
  • Bank account and candidate name should match.
  • Joint accounts are not permitted.
  • Student must have a general savings bank account (Minor/frill accounts are not accepted)
  • Creamy OBC layer candidates who have qualified for GATE are not eligible.
  • GATE candidates admitted to the engineering and architecture programme are eligible for GATE scholarship 2025.
  • Candidates qualified under OBC (NCL)/SC/ST/Physically handicapped and not having the authentic certificate are not eligible for AICTE scholarship through GATE. 
  • GATE 2025-26 scholarship will be given from the date of commencement of classes/date of admission (whichever is later) to completion of courses/date of submission of thesis. 
  • GATE 2025 scholarship is disbursement for a maximum of 24 months or till the completion of course or date of submission of thesis.

Has GATE Scholarship Stipend Increased to INR 18000?

No, scholarship is not yet increased or changed. However, AICTE raised a proposal of 50% hike in the GATE stipend amount for MTech applicants. Incase, Ministry of Education approves monthly GATE stipend amount will be increased from INR 12,400 to INR 18,600. 

GATE 2025-26 Scholarship Eligibility Criteria

To receive the GATE scholarship/stipend, it is important to understand and know whether the students meet the criteria or not. If a candidate belongs to the reserved category, then he/she must have the relevant documents to support the GATE Eligibility requirements. Hence, here is the list of the AICTE-approved GATE scholarship 2025 eligibility conditions -

  • Must have a valid GATE or CEED score at the time of admission to the full-time MTech or ME programme
  • The institute must be AICTE-approved to receive the GATE stipend
  • Part-time, sponsored, or distance-learning candidates are not eligible to avail the scholarship benefits
  • Applicants must have a personal savings account in their name and the bank account must be linked with Aadhar card

Other Eligibility Conditions for receiving the GATE 2026 Stipend

  • Must not be receiving any other scholarship or financial assistance from the Government of India or any other organisation.
  • Aadhaar-linked bank account in your name is mandatory.
  • Students admitted under the management quota are not eligible.

Documents Required for GATE Scholarship 2025 Application

Candidates who want to register for GATE MTech scholarship programme must have the following documents ready before applying. The documents must be in JPEG or JPG format. 

  • Scanned copy of the GATE/CEED scorecard
  • The bank account should be active with the Aadhar card. It must be linked with the Aadhar card. 
  • Only an Aadhar active Bank savings account will be considered since the PG scholarship is released through the Aadhar Bridge Payment Systems (ABPS) mode through Public Financial Management System (PFMS).
  • No frill account, Jan Dhan account, Bank account having limits on transactions/credits and joint account are permitted.
  • A scanned copy of the Aadhar card should be uploaded in JPEG or JPG format.
  • A scanned copy of a valid category certificate for SC/ST/EWS/OBC and non-creamy layer (NCL) should be uploaded.  It must be latest and should be issued by the Competent Authority.
  • Admission Letter from an AICTE-approved institution
  • Institute ID Card
  • Income Certificate (if required by the institute)
  • Declaration Form stating you are not availing other scholarships

How to apply for the GATE scholarship through AICTE?

Steps to apply for GATE exam scholarship can be checked below -

  • Visit official website of AICTE - https://www.aicte.gov.in/ OR https://portal.aicte-india.org/ or https://pgscholarship.aicte.gov.in/ (the link will be updated) once activated.
  • Create an account or log in using GATE credentials
  • Fill out necessary details and upload documents as per the specifications mentioned by the authorities.
  • Respective institute will verify the details and approve GATE 2025 scholarship

AICTE GATE Scholarship Student Login

To access GATE AICTE candidate login, students need to have their GATE student login ID and password. Login credentials will be used for following -

  • Submission of initial scholarship application.
  • Tracking of status to monitor the latest progress of their scholarship application
  • Management of student profiles, such as personal details and academic information.

Important Points regarding the GATE Scholarship 2026

Once approved, the stipend is credited monthly to your bank account. However, to continue receiving the scholarship, you must:

  • Must have a minimum of 75% attendance
  • Must have a good academic record.
  • Not allowed to take any full-time or part-time job.

If you fail to meet these conditions, the scholarship will get cancelled.

When will I receive my AICTE GATE Scholarship after ID registration?

A GATE score of 550 in mechanical engineering will fetch you a rank range of 1500 - 3000. Students with this GATE score range can opt for M.Tech at NIT Calicut, NIT Trichy, etc. 

Q:   What is the rank for 40 marks in GATE?
A: 

40 marks in GATE will approximately give a rank between 2000 to 5000 depending on the paper difficulty level and the number of registered candidates in that particular branch.  Obtaining 40 marks is mainly considered average, opening chances to a few new IITs (less popular branches) and NITs.

However, rank for 40 marks in the Graduate Aptitude in Engineering can give a different rank value for different branches and disciplines. For example, 40 marks in GATE CSE can correspond to 9000 to 10000 rank. On the other hand, 40 marks in GATE ME, can correspond to 6000 - 7100 rank. 

Advice to students who secured 40 marks in GATE exam: Better to apply in some state-level colleges or new NITs. 

Q:   How much GATE score is required for M.Tech at IIT?
A: 

A GATE score of 700 to 800 is mainly required for M.Tech admission at IIT (especially for top IITs). However, the score also depends on the IIT popularity, branch popularity, and other factors. For new IITs, a GATE score of 500 to 600 is mainly required. 

It is advised to check the past year's GATE cutoff trends before opting for counselling and admission.
