What is AIBE Certificate of Practice (CoP)?
Until last year, final-year law students were not allowed to appear for the AIBE Exam. However, now they can appear given the condition that they should not have any backlogs. The AIBE Eligibility Criteria were revised, considering that many law graduates lose a year waiting for the AIBE Exam.
However, to get the COP while it is mandatory to clear AIBE Exam, it is also important to complete the Bar Council of India registration process. The registration process include filling the AIBE application form and paying the fee.
A Certificate of Practice is issued by the Bar Council of India under Section 24(1)(b) of the Advocates Act, 1961. It confirms that an individual is qualified and can practice law in any Indian Court. It is issued to those who successfully clear the AIBE exam. The BCI has made it mandatory that all advocates obtain a CoP within three years of their provisional enrollment with a State Bar Council.
