Panjab University, popularly known as PUCHD, was founded in 1882 as the University of the Panjab Lahore (in Pakistan now). It was then moved to Chandigarh in 1947, where the university was split between Pakistan and India. Panjab University Admission Process and Important Dates 2026
Panjab University Chandigarh admission 2026 is entrance-based for a majority of its courses. PUCHD entrance exams are PU CET, PU UGLAW, PU LLB Entrance Exam, and PU MET. Students are required to go through the university-conducted/ national-level entrances and then appear for the university-level selection rounds for final admission. Panjab University offers several scholarships to its students under many categories. The Aadhaar number is mandatory for the disbursement of all Government subsidies/ scholarships/ fellowships at PUCHD. Some of the Panjab University Chd scholarships 2026 are listed below:
- Scholarships for students with disabilities: Under this scheme, 2,500 scholarships are offered to eligible differently-abled students for UG and PG courses
- Merit-cum-means scholarship for SC/ST: These scholarships will be awarded to the students who have secured not less than 50% marks or equivalent grade in the previous final examination, and the annual income of whose parents/guardians from all sources does not exceed INR 2.50 LPA

Yes, Punjab University does offer Scholarships for ST/SC category. The scholarship are offered keeping the following criteria in consideration:
- Those Students belonging to OBCs so specified in relation to the state/Union Terrritory to which the applicant actually belongs, i.e. is permanently settled, who have passed the Matriculation
- Students who have secured minimum 50% or equivalent grade
- Students belonging to Scheduled Caste and special grants to girls belonging to Scheduled Castes.
Panjab University offers financial assistance or concessions to it through offering scholarships under need or merit basis. The University also provides scholarships on the basis of some eligibility requirements. In which, applicants of reserved category are allowed to receive scholarship in the category of Merit-cum-means scholarship of SC/ ST. Such scholarships are awarded to deserving students and guarantee a minimum of 50% marks or similar in any past test. Under the 'Merit-cum-means scholarship for SC/ ST' scholarship, the members of family, with an annual income of INR 2.50 LPA, are eligible to get admission.
Punjab University offers scholarships to the BCom programme students who are meritorious or belong to particular categories. Punjab University BCom scholarships are offered by the University, UGC and by various departments of the Government. Students who wish to get into the specialisations or courses offered by UIAMS are required to appear for PU MET exam and those who wish to get into UBS are required to have a valid score in CAT exam.
The affiliated colleges are:
Government Colleges: These are government financed colleges.
Private Colleges: These are colleges which are financed by the individuals or organisations.
Considered to be Universities: These are the colleges that are recognized as a university by the government of India.
The college affiliation is provided by the National Assessment and Accreditation Council.
The Panjab University accepts the GATE cutoff score for admission to the ME/ M.Tech courses. The GATE Cutoff 2023 ranged from 363 to 387 score for admission for the General category under the All India quota. The toughest and the easiest specialisation was M.E. in Electronics and Communication Engineering and M.E. in Information Technology, respectively.
Panjab University follows the seat reservation policy for the BCom programme as per the Government norms as mentioned below:

Candidates seeking admission to the BA or BA (Hons) course at Panjab University must have an aggregate of up to 60% in Class 12. This is the minimum aggregate that is needed to pursue BA (Hons) in Economics or BA (Hons) from the campus of PU. Also, for other PU-affiliated colleges offering numerous other specialisations, the requirement might also vary.
