Established in the year 1987, Dr. B. R. Ambedkar National Institute of Technology provides education at the undergraduate, doctoral and postgraduate level in the fields of Science, technology and engineering. Presently, as per the central government, this institute is named as Institute of National Importance. NITJ has over 12 different academic departments, which includes the Department of Biotechnology, Department of Physics and Department of Civil Engineering. Candidates seeking admission to NIT Jalandhar BTech courses must have passed Class 12 with 75% aggregate with Physics and Mathematics as compulsory subjects along with any one of the Chemistry/ Biotechnology/ Biology/ Technical Vocational subjects (for SC/ST 65% aggregate is required). CCMT Counselling registration process is conducted in an online mode. Candidates have to register for the counselling process by filling their name and GATE related details such as year of exam, registration ID, exam paper and score to generate the login details. Check below detailed step to apply for CCMT Counselling process:

1. After registration, candidates need to log in to the official website and enter their details such as parent’s name, date of birth, gender, nationality, academic qualification, bank account information and others.
2. Candidates will also be required to upload a scanned copy of the GATE scorecard. The format of the scorecard should be GIF/PNG/JPG/JPEG/BMP and the size should be between 50 KB to 200 KB.
3. Before the CCMT registrations, candidates must generate passwords. Submission of the application form will be done after all submitted details are reviewed. After the completion of registration, a unique registration number will be generated.'
4. Candidates have to pay the required registration fee through online mode (net banking/credit card/debit card) or offline mode (e-challan at any branch of SBI).

Step 6 - Choice Filling and Locking: Candidates have to select their choice of colleges and courses during the allotted time. Change, re-order and deletion of choices could be done within the choice-filling period. Candidates must fill the choice in the order of their preference. Editing of selected choices cannot be done after locking. A printout of the filled choices must be taken for future reference.

NIT Jalandhar offers MSc in three specialisations. The two-year is available in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics disciplines. Mode of study for all these courses is full-time. Moreover, admission is entrance-based. Aspirants shall also meet the eligibility criteria for the MSc course they are applying for in NIT Jalandhar.

Basis the above comparison, it can be considered that Panjab University is equally competitive for BTech as NIT Jalandhar. Since all affiliated colleges of Panjab University offer BTech are part of JAC Chandigarh counselling, it again shows its competitiveness for the Engineering programmes. 

The cutoff trend for BTech at NIT Jalandhar has been increased in the recent years. In 2021, the closing rank for BTech under General category for AIQ was 10169. In 2022, it increased to 11547.

Similarly, the cut off changed from 14659 to 16506 for OBC, 65643 to 40521 for SC, 86192 to 67395 for ST, 11756 to 13749 for EWS and 349 to 262 for PWD. This is likely to continue, as the demand grows for engineering education in India.
