Indian Institute of Technology Joint Admission Test for MSc 2026 ( IIT JAM )

IIT JAM 2026 Result will be released on March 20, 2026, on the official website by IIT Bombay. Candidates taken the JAM 2026 exam can now visit the official website and download their scorecard, rankcard by logging in to their registered account with the credentials, ie, username and password.
Candidates can check IIT JAM 2026 Marks vs Rank from here. IIT Bombay, along with the release of the candidate's scorecard, also announces the JAM 2026 topper's name subject-wise. This will help the candidates in estimating the probable good score.
Candidates could download their IIT JAM 2026 scorecards once it is out on the official site. Candidates can check their obtained scores and All India Ranks (AIR) in the entrance examination through the results of IIT JAM 2026. Only qualified candidates will be eligible for the IIT JAM 2026 counselling session. Based on the IIT JAM 2026 result, candidates will be eligible for admission into MSc (Two Years), MSc PhD, Joint MSc PhD, MSc.-MTech and other Post-Bachelor Degree courses offered by IISc and IITs. How IIT JAM 2026 score is Calculated?
The IIT JAM score evaluation is based upon several components associated with the exam's structure and marking scheme:
Exam Structure: IIT JAM exam has 60 questions accounting for a total of 100 marks.
Section A: Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs)
Section B: Multiple Select Questions (MSQs)
Section C: Numerical Answer Type questions. It is divided into three sections, as follows:
Marking Scheme:
Section A (MCQs): has both 1-mark and 2-mark questions. Section A has negative marking; if a 1-mark question is answered incorrectly, the candidate loses 1/3 of a mark; if 2-mark question is answered incorrectly, the candidate loses 2/3 of a mark.
Section B (MSQs): each question is worth 2 marks and no negative marking. Full marks will only be awarded when all of the correct options are selected, and none of the wrong options are selected.
Section C (NATs): has both 1-mark and 2-mark questions; however, Section C does not have negative marking. Score Evaluation is done by: 1. The final score of a candidate is the total score by combining the marks from all parts of the section. 2.

IIT JAM 2022 Cut Off
The authorities have released the IIT JAM 2022 cutoff which the candidates had to meet to qualify for the entrance examination. The qualifying cutoff was released through the IIT JAM 2022 result and candidates were able to know the scores that were required to qualify for the examination for every course and category. During the IIT JAM 2022 counselling, the admission cutoff will be prepared by the authorities after checking all of the details related to the entrance examination. However, as per the latest notification, the IIT JAM 2022 admission eligibility criteria has been relaxed and those who have passed the exam can apply for the admission process.

IIT JAM Result Tie-Break
In case there is a tie between the aggregate scores of two candidates in a test paper, the candidate with a higher ratio of positive marks than negative marks will be awarded a higher rank. In case this criteria fails to break the tie, both candidates will be awarded the same rank.
On the basis of AIRs awarded to candidates, an all-India merit list will be prepared. However, “the number of candidates included in all India merit list depends on the total number of seats available in each category (OBC-NCL, SC, ST, and PwD) in a given subject,” informs the official website.
All qualified candidates allotted AIRs will then be eligible to apply for admission in their respective courses offered at colleges accepting IIT JAM scores.
