- Master in Business Administration (MBA): This is a master's degree program that can be pursued fully online. The Online MBA is a degree course offered by UGC-approved universities. Online MBA courses typically take 2 years to complete full-time or 3-4 years part-time. These two-year programmes are divided into semesters. The curriculum covers core areas like marketing, finance, strategy, operations management, etc. Online MBA degree courses are offered by universities and require a thesis or dissertation.
- Post Graduate Diploma in Management (PGDM): This postgraduate management diploma is offered online by business schools and institutes. Online PGDM is a diploma course offered by private institutes approved by the AICTE. It is equivalent to an MBA but is not a degree in terms of nomenclature. The online PGDM usually takes 2 years full-time or 3 years part-time to complete. The focus is on building practical management skills and techniques. Online PGDM programs may not require a thesis.
- Post Graduate Program (PGP): Online Post Graduate Programs (PGP) in management lead to postgraduate certificates or diplomas. The online PGP takes 1-2 years full-time or up to 3-4 years part-time. The curriculum is similar to an MBA program but does not always confer a master's degree. Online PGP is also a diploma course offered by private institutes approved by the AICTE. It is the same as the MBA degree in terms of syllabus and pedagogy but differs in nomenclature.
- Online Executive MBA/PGDM/PGP: Online executive MBA, PGDM and PGP programs are designed for working professionals. They have a shorter duration of 1-2 years with classes on weekends or evenings. The focus is on leadership, strategy and general management. Admission typically requires 3-5 years of work experience. These courses are for working professionals with work experience in managerial roles.
